Seeing how Atlanta didn’t beat Gladewater at the JV or varsity levels last year I’m not sure I buy them at #3 and GW at #7 but I guess we will find out quickly as they play each other the second week of the season.

Never no we might surprise some people. I plan on Atlanta to be more balanced this year for sure. Still got a couple RBs that will be good too.

Who is in line to take over at qb?  Our oline was soft last year, I hope they are in the weight room busting their tails off this offseason.  If our oline blocks we will be tough on offense.  I hope the defense plays like they did in the playoffs and if so we will be a well rounded team.  Man I'm ready for it to get here!!!

Matt’s son I watched him play some and the boy can play. If he continues to improve we could be very dangerous. We still have Nelson and Hamilton so we will be fine at the RB position. Defense wise I believe we will start off slow again then step it up in district. I honestly believe we will be better overall this year but who knows.

Keeping the injury bug away and playing like you should will be a key for every contender but it's high school kids and you never know.  Atlanta will return all but one o lineman but we will lose all but one on the d line.  I'm not sure what we will look like a qb but have an excellent crop of rb's coming back.

In all honesty I believe the QB this year will be better as long as our Oline gives us some time. He’s  an actual QB that can throw very accurate and has a decent arm. Andy was good but he wasn’t a real QB. He would have been a better slot WR and safety if we had someone to play QB last year. If our Oline blocks we will be more balanced then we have been since 2016.

Region 2 should be ready again.  Will Malakoff match this past season or will Gladewater, Tatum, Jefferson challenge?  Can Atlanta match the success they had in the playoffs?  What about the other regions?  Man I can't wait to see how it plays out!!!

Atlanta could very well be better then last year. We will have a very accurate throwing QB I’m just not sold on our Oline yet

Good game Atlanta! You guys got some quick backs. You guys made some good adjustments on your running game in the 2nd half and finally got to see that speed that you guys were talking about. Had me worried there for a minute. Not going to lie. Lol. Atlanta couldn't stop our running game at all. Carr had a very good game coming back from being injured all season long. Seemed like he didn't miss a step at all.

Carr is a monster!!! Wish we could have had a better first half so it would have been an even better game. Great job Atlanta there was a lot of heart showed today and Atlanta is proud! Now Malakoff go represent region 2 and show Brock how we do it around here!

I like any input I can get, and it's no offense to y'all, I just felt like Gladewater would have made it to the qtr-finals anyways, and not necessarily because they had more athletes than Jefferson or Malakoff, but just how they control the clock and play football. They just grind you down, especially if you get down to them early, which I felt matched up really well against Jefferson, as it does us.

I honestly think we had the same game-plan as you guys had for us, and we weren't prepared for a team that could match or even have more talent. I don't know that though. We looked flat from the time we stepped off the bus, and Jefferson had been ready for a week. That's all I kept hearing from people in Jefferson, was how much the town was talking about that game.

When that score got to 28-7 against Jefferson, you could have stuck a fork in us. They just quit, for whatever reason. If they had done that the first week of the playoffs, we wouldn't be here now. Just one sign that these kids have at least a little different mind set than they had before. We said that the Jefferson loss would either pound them into submission, or wake them up, and I believe it did the latter.

We definitely have to start like we did against Jasper last year. Jasper was a massive, physical, and fast team. We started that game playing lights out, then got shut out in the 2nd half. We have to start and finish like that though. Drive down the field and score. That's the only way we get Malakoff's defense on their heals. Everyone must execute. We can't afford early turnovers this week. We have to fight for 4 quarters.

    I'm pumped... can you tell?

All the losses we have taken this year has helped us get to where we are at. We’ve seen it all this year so it’s pretty hard to surprise us. The Jefferson showed us that if we make mistakes against a good team you will get your butt handed to you. That’s the game that got our boys fired up. That’s what brought our intensity if continue that we alright. I’m proud of our boys and what they’ve accomplished this season.

Lost to Marlin 20-14 in 1964 in Nagadoches. And beat them 34 -0 in 2003 at Rose Stadium for class 3a d2 state championship

I wish that game was on YouTube or somewhere people don’t believe me when I say that team was the fastest meanest team I’ve ever seen at a high school level. Our secondary and LB was all sub 4.5 40s and LB we’re all good size and would knock your cleats off. Even in practice we would lay highlight type hits on each other.
