  1. That's where you are entirely wrong and my exact point. Not all pecan pies are made the same yet they are called by the same name. The players are different, with different skill sets, the order of operation is different and there is a few special ingredients that you may have never seen in a pecan pie before. Still a pecan pie though. I can wait for you all to taste it. MMM MMM GOOOOOOOOD!
  2. Ole Claude had them boys playin some ball by the end of the year. I can't wait to see what the next few are going to look like in Marshall.
  3. That app is evidence that we should have a minimum age of 18 to own or operate a smart phone.
  4. This is absolutely the funniest post on this thread so far. Someone is going to have to go long to beat that one.
  5. I have eaten pecan pie 26 times in the last three years, but that pie the other night was better than the other pies I have eaten.
  6. Maybe from some, but the vast majority of wos fans will just say how young their team was or if the refs would or wouldn't have done _____. The excuse factory is strategically located right next to the school.
  7. That's what baffles me. Everyone on here wants to talk about wos defense, but no one seems to want to talk about how wos plans to score. I am guessing they are counting on turnovers or big plays on the special teams. I know that Graham had returns for TDs against several opponents this season and by the end of the game, those kids just wanted to fair catch everything. I also know that the PR from last week against Wimberly had to be the slowest PR for a TD that I have ever seen. That kid looked like he was stumbling through a pumpkin patch and still didn't get a hat put on him.
  8. I sat on the wos side last year and swore never again after that, but I may have to sit over there again just so I can watch the faces when PG breaks that first speed sweep off for a touchdown. Plus it will be great to hear all the wos faithful talking C-rap about their coaches when things aren't going right, the way they did last year against Sweetwater. I still need someone to sell me one of those black PG hats like Tepper wore the other day so I can sport it while I am sitting over there though.
  9. Maybe not early, but running it enough to get the safety to cheat is all it will take to be successful, cause we all know what happens then.
  10. I'll spell it out for ya since you're struggling to draw your own conclusions to what I said in the boxing reference. It doesn't matter how well a team has played against a particular style of offense or how long someone has coached against that style of offense. The individual battles will be what determines whether or not it will be successful. Your coach can have you in the right spot all night long, but it makes no difference when you're losing your individual battle.
  11. People keep saying that, but it means nothing. Check Mike Tyson's record against fighters that fought like Buster Douglas.
  12. To say that Kennedale has A LOT better kids than PG in a gross misunderstanding of what PG brings to the table. PG has 4 RBs that can take it to the house. PG runs this offense better than Kennedale and can throw the ball WAY better than Kennedale. All the wos folks wanna keep running to the Kennedale game as their hope for winning this one, but seem to have forgotten the facts: Kennedale had 4 turnovers, 2 of which were inside their own 20 and led to wos points(10). Kennedale had a terrible personal foul penalty with under 2 minutes remaining that took them from the wos 48 back to their own 37. Kennedale outgained wos 337 to 160. wos QB was 5 for 15 for 27 yards passing There are a lot of folks from East Texas that have seen both Carthage and PG play that feel like it would be a VERY close game, and unless the fan is from Carthage, most feel like PG would have a great chance of coming out on top in that matchup. Most people across the state feel like Carthage will beat Kennedale by 7+ points. What does all this mean? SQUAT! But for all of the wos folks to keep touting the Kennedale game as to why they will beat PG also means squat. I can assure you that PG will throw the ball way more than Kennedale, and do it very effectively. I can assure you that if wos's LBs and secondary are cheating outside to stop the speed sweep, PG's receiver will run right past them for an easy 6 on the play action. As far as PG needing to use deception to create big plays, whoever said that is an Einstein! PG's offense is built around deception. What makes it so difficult to defend is that they rush to the ball and do not allow the defense to get settled, then when they snap the ball they have 4 different people who may or may not have it. I can't wait to see this game play out and also to see all the crow that the 40-0 stark fans will have to eat when they get beat by a nobody program like PG.
  13. 83' Daingerfield gave up 8 points the entire season. 6 on a pick 6 (extra point blocked), and 2 on a snap over the punter's head into the end zone. They allowed an average of 1 foot per play for the season. 85' Yates or Stark would have needed 300 plays of offense to go 100 yards. BTW, their secondary was state champs in the 4X100.
  14. Offense wos will have to rely on the big play against PG because they have not demonstrated an ability to drive the field. They will also have to throw the ball, which is something they are not very good at, because the running game will be "unavailable". They will need short fields and luck to score on offense. PG has demonstrated they can move the football on every defense they have played this season. They can grind out long drives or hit a home run. They have 4 high quaility runners that may have the ball in their hand on every play. They also have a VERY underrated passing attack. I'm not saying they're Gilmer, but they are definitely well above average. Defense wos is incredible on defense, it is the foundation of their long standing success. They will have to play flawless disciplined defense and try to push PG into being uncomfortable. Should be a dog fight in the trenches and a battle of wills. PG is strong. Their front seven will have a definite advantage over the mustang o'line. I would not look for them to try to pressure the wos offense and create gaps since the QB is not as much of a threat to throw as he is to run. I think PG will play a contained pass rush and possibly spy the QB. I think the same game plan they used on the LE QB will work here even though the LE quarterback is a much better passer. My take: I believe that the game will not be a blowout, but it will not be close. If anyone watched the Carthage vs Henderson game a few weeks ago, it never really felt like Carthage was blowing Henderson out, yet the score ended up 35-0. Both of these teams are outstanding or they would not be here, but I think that PG is a perfect storm this season. Everything has come together at precisely the right time. Last time I saw wos under the pressure of feeling outmatched( 2nd half of the Gilmer game), they made a lot of mistakes and lost their composure. I think in the middle of the second quarter, wos is going to realize they are outmatched and things are going to snowball. Mistakes will turn into points for PG and a stalled offense will cause wos to try some trick plays or fake punts. wos has fought through adversity in the playoffs this season, but will not be able to rely on the 99.9 yard QB sneak or the punt return that takes 10 minutes to score in this game. 1 2 3 4 PG 7 14 14 7 42 wos 0 7 0 7 14
  15. So in 1991 do you think either of them had a coaching advantage over Jimmy Johnson and the Cowboys?
  16. When Jimmy Johnson came to the NFL and coached his first game against either Chuck Knoll or Don Shula, who do you think people at the time thought was the better coach?
  17. Don't mess with my homeboy Pax! He will beat you down with metrics and a dictionary! Pax you keep beating them up with logic and intellect!
  18. We should have a Smoaky section for all of us going up there for all the games. lol
  19. Absolutely! We have the technology, we have the procedures in place by NCAA rules. Why not make sure that a game is not won or lost on human error. I can guarantee you that the officials that called the Navasota/Argyle game in the SC would vote for IR. They have been lambasted over the last few years about that game. When in doubt, get it right.
