Just wow. Proverbs 26:9. You are correct- This conversation is absolutely an excercise in futility.

In a round about way, I mean winning titles. Don't pass over my last statement: People despise a winner. Haters gonna hate. When you are a consistent playoff team, but don't win the big dance, fans of other teams will pull for you and advocate on these forums on your behalf. When you are getting that kind of positive energy around your team, there is not a lot of "policing" that needs to take place because most people are building you up. (Much the way people are doing with Diana this week). But when you start winning titles, you are the team to beat and so all of the "other" fans find it easier to root for the team you are playing against and therefore all the positive energy that your team used to get is going to your opponent. When that happens, your fans are like what the heck, we're the champs, why does everyone seem to be against us now? Then they start getting defensive at every remark and inevitably get into little pi$$ing contests with everyone. (There are a lot of people that get on here just to instigate said pi$$ing contests). Then you just start to see everyone's comments as negative toward your team. Once you have been on top for a while, you and your fan base will learn to roll with it and laugh along instead of arguing and being incited. I will use your last post as an example: Even though I chose my words carefully and even praised you as a person, you still became defensive when I made the statement about y'all not having done this long enough. You took that as a swipe against your team and felt the need to defend your team's honor by quoting me your resume. I and many others on here are very aware of Gunter's pedigree and respect your program. When you have become a powerhouse program, like Katy, Carthage, WOS, Gilmer, or Allen, you will no longer take my comment as a swipe and you will be able to see if for what it was. Relax, enjoy winning, cherish being on top, and don't let other people's words steal the joy you have about your football team.

Wow this should be a great game. I you would have polled every regular Smoaky poster a month ago, I don't think anyone outside of Centerville would have thought they could win a matchup with SA. After the last 3 weeks though, I think SA better bring their "A" game and a sack lunch because this one is going to be a war. I still think SA wins because they are a very complete team in all areas. Good luck to both teams and I pray that all the kids come out healthy and walk off the field knowing they played their best.

I will say that my post yesterday was not aimed at you Pax, however, my daddy taught me that when you throw a rock into a pack of dogs, the one that yelps is the only one ya hit. I do think that all of you Gunter fans get lumped in together because you guys have not been doing this long enough to "police" your own. I remember back in 2014 there were some Gilmer fans getting outlandish on the FF app against some of the Celina fans, and they got called out by the veteran Gilmer fans and told to chill out. I know that you can't control what someone else says or does, but if they are out of line and getting called out by their own, they are more likely to cut it out. You guys will get there as a fan base, if you keep winning. For the record, I enjoy most of your posts because I too have an analytical mind, your approach is a little more scientific than most of the others you get grouped in with. You just need to help guide the rookies in your fan base on a few things: 1. Winning is fun, but winners don't whine. 2. When you are a powerhouse program, act like you have been there before. 3. This ain't wrestlin, you don't have to play the heel, just cause you ain't the star. 4. It is ok if someone else thinks their team is better than yours all week long, as long as you get to serve the crow when the clock runs out. 5. Loud deer get shot. Keep doin what you do and thicken that skin up, people love an underdog and despise a winner, especially if you don't win with grace.

I have definitely noticed a BIG difference in the way the Gunter fans act this year vs last. I was pulling for you guys last year because all of your fans seemed really humble and even though you talked up your team, you didn't basically treat everyone like they were idiots. This year, if anyone doesn't just slather Gunter with all out praise, your fans are shocked and salty. I made a comment on the Celina/PG thread last week that basically asks the PG fans to NOT be like Gunter fans. Most of you (not ALL of you) are acting like you have to argue with everyone to get respect for your team and all you're are doing is making people lose respect for them because your fans are obnoxious a$$3$. Hopefully the Gunter fans will grow out of it or maybe someone will come along an humble them again. Either way, there are a lot of programs represented on Smoaky that have a long tradition of winning, and while you see them on here talking up their team, you DON'T see them being Jack wagons. Win with grace. I assure you that while the ND fans believe that they can win, and many others will be pulling for them, everyone respects what Gunter has done and can do. All Eagle8 was saying is don't ruin that respect for your team, because you don't know how to respect others.

I think Euless Trinity beating Duncanville then Midland lee makes them a shocker. I would say Longview just because every person that you heard talk outside of ET thought KC was probably going to make a run at the title this year. After watching them Saturday, I think Longview can make a serious run if they eliminate the penalties and errors. I know none of us expected Melissa to be there. Boling beating EB and getting there is pretty amazing considering how EB dominated them in district. and of course Diana, but I am really proud of those ET boys! Timpson beating Bremond to get there is surprising and I am not sure they're quite done surprising folks yet....... We shall see. Centerville is a little surprising considering how they were flying under the radar. Did anyone not from Centerville really expect them to take out Joe and BS early on? I sure didn't.

You never want to see a kid injured, but isn't it ironic how the KC fans talked all week about hitting Longview in the mouth and they seem to have kids laying on the turf consistently? Longview is choppin wood today!

The announcers on NFHS are clueless about the rules. They're all up in arms over #35 getting a personal foul for continued participation after losing his helmet. It's a rule!

I read almost every post on every current thread and I have a question: Has anyone ever actually met Lion70? Like does anyone actually "know" them? I am just curious.

I was just thinking from the way the 1st game went. I mean when a really good team takes the field ( yes I believe Carlisle is really good), they always expect to win. But when you take the field against a team that has already beaten you, there is always an inclination of doubt that creeps in. That sliver of doubt is what causes the psychological advantage because the team that won the 1st meeting, has a greater sense of confidence because they have already done it once. Whether or not SA has a psychological advantage will be evident at the first sign of adversity for Carlisle. I can assure you that if SA fumbles on their own 7 yard line in the 1st quarter, they won't be saying "oh #### we're in trouble', they will be saying "oh well, let's get it back". If Carlisle can have that mentality and confidence, this will be a battle. If they are the one's saying "oh ####", it's going to be a long night. I hope that both teams play great football and no one gets injured. Both are great programs, with really great fans. Reading all the things you guys ( Chain, Wolfman, Greezy, Jorr2carr and many other veterans) say on here is part of what makes Texas HS Football great. Good luck tonight.

The Indians could play their game of the year The Wolves could not play up to their potential Who will execute? The Wolves will I think SA's average performance is better than the Indians plus average performance. If SA plays below their average and Carlisle plays their game of the year, the Indians can win this game. I don't think that we will see any great revelations by either team that will be different from the first meeting, it will all be about who executes and imposes their will. I believe that SA has a psychological and physical advantage and therefore believe it is theirs to lose.

I was not surprised by most of these. Prosper blowing a big 1st half lead was surprising, Wall blowing an early lead and being completely shut down in the 2nd half was surprising and Franklin being dominated was surprising even though I think Teague is the best team in 3AD1.

I do believe that you could get about 20K fans to show up to see that one. 25% pulling for WOS, 25% pulling for Argyle and the other 50% would just want to see one of y'all lose. I personally hope WOS makes it to the championship game just so I can see PG beat them.
