  1. Went to the intrasquad scrimmage today and have seen a few practices. Looks like Brashear is going to try to 2 platoon once again this season. If it stays this way the under once again will be around 5 wins. Hopefully the next couple scrimmages will open his eyes up to the reality of the situation.
  2. Just a few weeks ago Joe Oliver the most resent principal retired due to a battle with cancer. Thats why they promoted the assistant to the head job. Administration (principle) is a lot less public scrutiny and if you do well the pay is just as good or better then an AD job.
  3. Unless you call retirement or moving on to a better job in another district getting run off so be it I guess. Job security is much better in administration. I'll guarantee that.
  4. Brashear is a Cameron Yoemen and if you want to stay around Cameron being a head coach is not the best way to do that. Especially if you are not very successful. The best job security is in administration so a principal job would of been an alternative for him. His wife is also employed with the district. I see his reasoning to hang on so he can catch that magic of coaching his son who he has already appointed the starter at Qb. Yoe fans hope it works out like it did for Rhoades and his son Jack who was Qb in 2010. The first appearance in the Rhoades tenure to the state finals.
  5. Well Brashear did not take the principal job. The school board promoted an existing principle on staff to the opening. Hopefully Brashear and staff are all in and working towards a successful season. That's all Yoe fans can hope for.
  6. Brownwood early in the season is still trying to get their footing. Brock wins easily.
  7. Eagles are going to be better but Franklin is a machine. The Lions by 31.
  8. There is this open sore that that needs some healing. That is the two worse losses ever (points wise) in the history of the Cameron /Rockdale rivalry the last 2 seasons. Brashear and staff has to heal that wound this season. Hopefully we see a change for the better fundamentally on the field.
  9. The highschool principal position is open now. Stay tuned.
  10. Who are you talking about? 2nd head coach? The decision about Qb was decided long before 7 on 7. There seems to be a lack of excitement around town about this upcoming season. The expectation level is not real high.
  11. No surprise that he named his son starting Qb after playing a few glorified touch football games with no 200 lbs + pass rushers coming at you. That pass rush is going to happen if nothing fundamentally changes from last season. My crystal ball shows me that he is going to name his 2 platoon line up the first scrimmage and nothing will change the rest of the season. There will be 2-4 players playing out of position and probaby the same that should be playing both ways. All we Yoe fans can do is hope the HC learned anything from last season and make the correct adjustments as the season evolves.
  12. These school boards need to hire with their head not heart. Making the playoffs is no big deal now. A below 500 team can make the playoffs. I know of a 4 - 7 team that did it last year.
  13. The 7 years Rhoades was here the "has beens" were up in the same stands every Friday night. I believe in those years social media was up and running. You never seen a thread anywhere questioning his on the field decisions and questionable coaching hires etc. If us "has beens" would have seen the same the last couple of years this thread would have already died. CISD will never have issues with attracting excellent coaches for their AD/HC position. Those coaches that have excellent resumes could care less about what is said on social media. They are looking for that opportunity to coach in a community that has the tradition, passion, pride and the commitment to put the best team that is possible out on the field.
  14. The "has beens" that are taxpayers are also the school board members that sit in those stands and they understand the game quite well. There are many and I say many of us that have been associated in one way or another with Yoemen football through the years. It's not brain surgery. It's all about the wins and losses. CISD has been very fortunate to have some very good coaches through the years.
  15. US taxpayers are going to be in those stands every Friday night. If there are no changes happening for the better on the field then this staff will no longer be there. We the taxpayers are the board members that make the hires and the decisions for the betterment of the atheletic department. Those kids that play on Saturday morning are future Yoemen with the dream of playing on Friday nights. My hat is off to the men and women who volunteer their time for those kids.
  16. Well let's say when a contingent of so called "has beens" can tell there are issues with basic fundamentals then there are problems. Us "has beens" and many more in the CISD pay the salaries of those coaches. Yes I do hope their knowledge of the game is better than the basic little league coach. The little league coaches volunteers their time and money and do an excellent job.
  17. The physical offense the Lions run, it maybe a good idea to have a couple of bi-weeks. Looked like last years playoff game the Lions looked like they were a little beat up. Good luck this upcoming season. I always admired how physically fundamental the Lions were. Maybe not always the biggest players but they came to give a 110% each snap.
  18. Good coaches schedule teams to make their team better. To expose the areas they need to improve on. To eventually prepare their team for the post season run. As former Coach Rhoades use to say steel sharpens steel. Now a days it looks like let's "steal" a victory we need some wins.
  19. Yoe Nation wants to see some improvements in fundamentals. Getting players on the field in the right positions where they can be successful. Should be no excuses with this upcoming schedule.
  20. As far as the fan base goes this is going to be a pivotal season for Brashear and staff. Irrelevance usually happens when you become complacent and think success is just going to happen. Last season is a great example. Ranked #1 going into 2017 and at the end of the season the Yoemen were irrelevant and had people scratching their head.
  21. I don't understand DCTF reasoning in putting the Yoemen at 11. Stepp said it was because of the weak district schedule. Makes no sense. With Rockdale at 3 I don't think there are anymore Locklins moving in. The weak district will benefit the Tigers also. 09 you do an excellent job with the sport page in the Hearld.
  22. Wow! I just read that Dave Campbell has the Yoemen at #11. Just proves they hardly did any research for their poll. Way overrated.
  23. With the schedule the Yoemen play this upcoming season it will be a welcome surprise if 4 teams they play will have a winning record. Weakest in over a decade. I'm just hopeful we keep the Rockdale game competitive.
  24. It's just unbelievable not to see the Yoemen in the top 10. Magazine had them #1 last year. The Yoemen just under performed last season. Fundamentals completely disappeared. Now you will not find them in the top 40. Just a damn shame.
  25. Rockdale is going to have a hard time living up to that ranking Franklin is going to be one tough out this upcoming season. Interesting poll for sure.
