  1. Played there in 1990 vs. Quitman in regional beating them 50-0! I was there! My wife was a senior cheerleader that year. Only time I can recall playing at Lobo Stadium; I could be wrong. Lol
  2. I hope the same! I think a BIG game like that is deserving of a BIG stadium! Let’s get there and then talk! lol
  3. ONE WEEK AT A TIME FOR SURE! But if I find something that spotlights our Alto kids and their accomplishments I like to share. NOT getting ahead of the game but this is a nice segment about just that: taking one game at a time. GO JACKETS!! BEAT JOAQUIN!! https://www.ktre.com/2019/11/20/san-augustine-alto-collision-course-possible-reg-iii-championship/
  4. Yes sir. We’re in it to win it that’s for sure. I know y’all are too!
  5. Man, we are taking care of bidness down south. No head scratching this week.

  7. Yes sir! I remember that one, too! RAINING, COLD, AND 4 OVERTIMES. Crazy night. Hated to lose that one; heart breaker.
  8. It does feel kind of far away; stands are pretty dang tall! And of course, folks from Joaquin might feel even further away since y'all are practically on the field at home. Your fans are used to being part of the action! lol
  9. I was a little surprised we are playing in Lufkin, but glad Joaquin gets to come south this time. With the exception of SFA in 1990 (Area: Alto 57-0), the other games were north: Tatum (2007 | QFN: Alto 47-6) and Gladewater (2008 | Alto 25-13). We also met in 1955 (Bi-Dist: Alto 19-6) but I don't find where that game was played; I wasn't around at the time. I know who to ask when I see him though! Alto has a 4-game winning streak at Abe Martin: 2013: Alto 47 - Hull-Daisetta 42 2012: Alto 35 - Hull-Daisetta 28 2007: Alto 21 - Groveton 13 2006: Alto 50 - Groveton 7 Two losses: 2004: Corrigan-Camden 18 - Alto 12 (4 OTs) 1984: Groveton 14 - Alto 6 Nice venue to play in! Interesting tidbit from a fellow Jacket fan: The 2004 game vs. Corrigan-Camden was the last game to be played on grass before Lufkin switched to turf, and it was a mud bowl that night! All close games for Alto with the exception of the 2006 game over Groveton. READY TO ROLL!
  10. I’m going with Diboll by a TD. Won’t be surprised if Yoe takes it, but hoping Diboll can make a deep run.

  12. Former Alto standout Hackett scores 2 TDs in Mary Hardin Baylor win By Jay Neal [email protected] BELTON — Mikkah Hackett, a graduate of Alto High School, picked off two passes and returned them for touchdowns on Saturday when University of Mary Hardin-Baylor trounced Sul Ross State University, 77-14, in the regular-season finale for both teams. Hackett, who is listed as a 6'-1”, 200-pound linebacker, had pic sixes covering 29 and 75 yards, respectively. He also had seven tackles in the game. The Cru (10-0) are the top-ranked team in NCAA Division III. American Southwest Conference-champion Mary Hardin-Baylor will open post season play at noon Saturday by entertaining the University of the Redlands (Calif.), who will bring a 9-1 record into the contest.
  13. Track & Field! Now that's another sport Alto knows a little bit about. I know, I know.....some of it is kind of old (most recent championship in 2014 so that's within the 5 year threshold for some of you! ). But you know....history is good. We are, after all, Americans who still celebrate our BACK-TO-BACK World War Championships and quite a few before and since then!
  14. And by “they” I assume you mean Joaquin! Because we’ve been playing since 1927 and doing ok! Joaquin....well,
  15. I only remember being behind one time, and that was against Union Grove. They drove down the field and scored first. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong.
  16. To answer your question on finding a backbone, the answer is: over the last two years under the new coaching staff. More specifically, probably the offseason when the seniors of 2019 got out of the way and the seniors of 2020 took full leadership. This group is full of leaders and they have worked as hard as any group to wear the black and gold. Under the second year in a brand new system, these young men have risen to every challenge presented to them. The amount of work they have put in is to be commended and I for one could not be more proud of them. The hard work is translating into big results on the field. Our town is proud of what has been accomplished and are behind this new backbone 1000%+.
  17. Boys are confident. Not cocky. There is a difference. Now I can’t say the same for our Jacket posters, and I’m ok with that.
