  1. Congratulations to your son. That’s awesome! We’ll actually be able to root for the same school. #axe’em!
  2. Congratulations to Big Sandy, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 2A Team of the Week! #txhsfb #Txhsfbplayoffs 6A: Eagle Pass 5A: Texas High 4A: Pecos 3A: Bells 2A: Big Sandy 1A: Eden
  3. Ok. That’s not bigger. Haven’t heard them, so I can’t comment on the louder. Just find it hard to believe. The head official stopped our band director Thursday after the game and told him that he enjoyed us and we’re better than any 6A band he’s heard all season. (I thought that was nice of him!) Also, we’re working on 12 weeks of football games and not one complaint. Just sayin’. Lol
  4. In case you missed it: Alto, Groveton cruise to playoff victories https://www.kltv.com/video/2019/11/15/alto-groveton-cruise-playoff-victories/
  5. Alto to meet Joaquin in Area round By Jay Neal [email protected] ALTO — Next up for the 11-0 Alto Yellowjackets will be a date with the Joaquin Rams (9-2). The Class 2A, Division I, Region III battle will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Lufkin's Abe Martin Stadium. Both clubs cruised to easy victories in the Bi-district round this week. Alto blistered Cayuga, 62-0, in Jacksonville on Thursday evening, while Joaquin shutout Shelbyville, 39-0, on Friday night. The Alto-Joaquin winner will take on either Groveton or Big Sandy in the regional quarterfinal round.
  6. We’ve played at Longview HS a couple times over the years and at Spring Hill once, but not PT yet. Are y’all home?
  7. MaxPreps Top 10 - 11/17/2019 https://www.maxpreps.com/m/rankings/list.aspx?ssid=8d610ab9-220b-465b-9cf0-9f417bce6c65&statedivisionid=5aed0a63-be0f-4d66-9d2c-291266a9fe23
  8. Yes sir!! Y’all will be kicking off 30 minutes before us so I’ll be checking to see how it’s going. Y’all ever played in Pine Tree’s new stadium? We’ve never been to that one. Looks nice!
  9. Great bands but I don’t see any of the three you named as being louder (maybe bigger? I know Timpson wasn’t. Didn’t see the other two this year). Just sayin’!
  10. Man, I appreciate that. It has been a year unlike any other our school has faced. The outpouring of love and support from other schools and communities has been phenomenal. Our community has pulled together like it always has throughout our history and tried to put our best foot forward. It is hard to see kids having to travel from portable to portable and across the campus to the ag barn and band hall, field house, cafeteria etc on cold, wet days like we have had of late. I am proud the kids and staff have persevered and are experiencing the level of success that we have attained this school year. Every last one of them have had to make sacrifices, but they press on. Thanks for your kind words.
  11. This is going to be a good game. Harleton has surprised the masses for sure. I like Carlisle’s chances though. I believe y’all live to play another day.......SA!!! But we won’t get ahead of ourselves. Carlisle 24 - Harleton 14.
  12. Longtime Alto fans can agree with this %. We have had some good bands through the years; we have had terrible bands, too (in the 96 season they did not not play the National Anthem because it was.....well, it wasn’t good. That was around the rock bottom year when they did not march at all. ) In the meantime there were some good directors (Jason Turrentine now at Groveton stands out) that did a good job. Fast forward to 2012 when Thomas Williams came and began turning the program around. He changed the style similar to what it is today and got kids excited about band again. When Timothy Ektefaei came aboard in 2014 he took it to a whole other level! Mr. E started with 35 members and in a mere 3 years hit 100 members in 2017 and has sustained that. Unbelievable for a school our size. This man. Just goes to show you what leadership means in any program. I have always been of the opinion that our school could have it all, and with the leadership we have from the school board to the supt to the principals to the athletic director to the band director to the head coaches of each sport, we have IT. Quality teachers and staff with a heart for kids and unmatched perseverance to get through difficult times (i.e. 2 tornadoes and a hail storm!!) and I would say it is a great day to be a Jacket! Great day indeed.
  13. Groveton, I think. And honestly I’m kind of torn. I want BS to do well since we are District 10 brothers. But I also get excited about the possibility of an Alto-Groveton round 3 playoff game!.....you know, the whole RIVALRY thing. Lol GO WILDCATS!
