  1. First of all, you don't know anything about AHS. Saying that it is a ghetto school is racist and untrue. The only Facilities that need upgrading as far as athletics is the basketball gym and the press box at the remodeled football stadium (they host a bowl game there). True the enrollment has lessened over the last 45 years, but those students probably ended up at a Texas side school because that side of town is the side that is growing the fastest economically due to Texas not having a state income tax. As for Texas, other than Red River Army Depot, where are the big layoffs that are going to cause Texas High to lose 400 students to get down to 5A D2 enrollment levels? Despite those layoffs, the depot is still going strong. Their enrollment is closer to LV, REL, and TJT than it is to Marshall which just might be the next largest high school in this area of East Texas. Your posts are bunk...
  2. The PG coach tried to open up the offense the season before the championship but the results early in the season were not good. After a few games he switched back to the Wing-T because it was more suited to his players abilities. He did get a few more athletes which helped. The biggest reason for his success is what he instills in his young men outside of the sidelines. He would probably be successful wherever he coaches because of that single fact. Give him a lot of athletes and add that to the mindset that he instills...that not good news for his opponents. Hope he stays away from Marshall (dead end job).
  3. Nobody ragged on Texarkana football when in '06, I believe, LE and Arkansas High both won state titles, and Texas High made it to the state quarterfinals and lost to Copperas Cove and RG3. Who else in East Texas has had that kind of success ever for a town the overall size of Texarkana? Not Tyler, not Longview. The only other places in Texas or Arkansas that may have done that are the big, big cities. When Marshall hits 19 straight years of playoff appearances then maybe they have earned to right to talk the kind of smack you are talking after only a few years of success playing district schools that are smaller than yourself. Enjoy your roll, it won't last forever. Go Hawks! Go Texarkana football
  4. No brag about the success, just fact. Still glad he is gone. Hope he comes to Marshall. Texas High will be back!
  5. HP is the rinky dink of the Metroplex. You haven't won a championship without the help of the referees ever. At least your coach is classy but the support base is pretty much sleazy and I witnessed that personally and was the target of their stupid arrogance. BTW, Jim Mallett, then and now coached the freshman teams. The passing philosophy never changed under BN. The only thing that changed was a gradual decline of the talent coming through the program. That is a cyclical phenomena that eventually will affect every program except HP that can recruit with the best of the high schools that recruit.
  6. Wishful thinking...that is not about to happen...he would come to Maude before he would come to Marshall!!! LOL!!!!
  7. You must be a high school freshman. Norton threw it around with the best of them. He beat Matthew Stafford and HP with Ryan Mallett an actually beat HP 2 out of three times before the HP win season before last. Our record against them is better than Marshall's, all of the games were close, and we never got shut out by HP. We won our state title throwing the ball in addition to having a back that ran for 2,000+ yards. You don't know what you are talking about.
  8. HAHAHAHA!!!! My exact thoughts!!!! He would be a perfect fit!!!!
  9. Actually, FYI, I called all of East Texas a toilet area. What I see in Marshall I see in other towns in East Texas. Same old song...IMHO, I see tons of un-Christian things going on in high school athletics and you guys take it as par for the course even if you are able to see the dirt which 99% of the time you see only what you want to see.
  10. I'm always brutally honest. That is why I am sooooo disliked.
  11. Last season was the only season in the past 20 years that we have had that many losses. Over that same span of time, I know for a fact that Marshall has had many more seasons like that than we have! LOL!!!
  12. I did not say anything about "coaches like him" or necessarily meaning "black" men. that is solely your line of thought. Then again, by your reaction, my comment probably hit close to home no matter the ethnicity of the other men you referenced or their positions. BTW, Marshall had not beaten Texas High in a long, long time before Mathis got there and that win was pure luck, a fluke, no matter what your district record was. I know for a fact that all, or just about all of those losses were to Texas High.
  13. Typical Marshall...trash a good coach that produced better results than all your homeboy coaches...Mathis is better off in DeSoto anyway...he gets out of this East Texas toilet area where coaches like him rarely get HC jobs and never appreciated.
  14. Look goofball I was supporting LV but what I saw and what I have seen over the past 40 years is what I have seen. I don't need anyone to validate me and give me any creds especially a faker like you. You are nothing to me. Again, congratulations LV on your title. It was long overdue and greatly deserved. Goofoff goofball ANTI...
  15. Still hoping that LV can pull this one out but I see no defense and no discipline. I have never seen a LV defense this soft, not in 40 years, and they apply NO pressure outside of what the d-line can apply by themselves. Why does the DC call a defensive signal when the opponent is third and 15 and your dbs and safetys give them a 30 yard zone cushion? SMH??? That 3 man front is getting eaten alive by the Westbrook o-line.
  16. Looking forward to much PG success next season as well as all of the other schools in the city. There is a ton of talent here in T-Town, unfortunately it is all spread out. On the flip side, there is a lot of opportunity for more young men. Gibson is the best HC/AD and I hope that PG can retain him.
  17. This game was lost in the second quarter when the PG starting cornerback was injured and his backup got beaten two times in a row. The first time was ruled, correctly, a no catch. On the second catch, too much of a cushion was given to Whittington. He is all Cuero had and he and the running back from Aledo are the two best players that I have seen This season. Cuero had nothing else but Whittington but he is all that they needed. The third quarter was a draw and the PG defensive line wore down gradually. Cuero ran away from the big PG defensive end all the second half. I would have been nice to have had Jackson but everybody is beaten up this time of year. The difference between this years PG team and last seasons team is the depth that last seasons edition had as far as the quality and numbers on the line. Last year those linemen played both sides of the ball but when you can go 10 deep at 6'3" and 285 pounds it makes a difference. I personally am anxious to see how it all will work out at PG over the offseason at the Grove heading in to this coming August.
  18. I looked at some Cuero highlights on Maxprepp and they have some good looking athletes with very good speed. They look a lot like Liberty Eylau. They will attack PG the way Carthage did by passing down the middle of the field. On the flip side, they are suspect to all that PG is good at, they can be beaten. I still do not believe that they have played the caliber of teams nor the number of good teams that PG has played.
  19. Bring it home Lobos, you guys deserve it. I saw the team scrimmage in Texarkana and saw the talent but I did not think that you had a title run in you like we have witnessed. Bring the title to Longview!
  20. Mavchamp, you got it all wrong as usual. Texas Highs title was in the states second highest classification regardless of the "A"s. Also, John Tyler has won state titles in both the highest and second highest classes. Get it right man, I am the bible on East Texas Football...
  21. Cuero has no choice but to stack the line when they are on defense. That fact is also dictated by the base offensive formation that PG uses. As always, the play in the trenches will primarily dictate this games results. PG has the ability strike quickly or grind it out. They have played, comparatively speaking, outside of Liberty Eylau, one of the toughest schedules in the state against some very, very good athletes with tons of size, speed, and quickness. They are always well prepared and play as one unit on both sides of the ball. They will not be beaten by any team that thinks they can win by playing a half of a game. I have seen their relentlessness wear opponents down eventually. PG is not unbeatable but they should be undefeated this season. As long as the young players can stay in the moment they will be fine. The Hawks are less predictable offensively this season as compared to last season but that may be a way that the coach has used to, believe it or not, take some pressure off of his less experienced players. Cuero had better play for the blowout early, 14 point is not enough of a cushion, or they will definitely be in for a long late morning and early afternoon. Cuero had better bring a sack lunch an a Tootsie Roll Pop because it is going to be a long afternoon sucker! As for me, I will be having a colonoscopy aboard the Muthaship while watching the game as I leave droppings over Carthage and Marshall. Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, over and out!!! Beam me up Scottie!!!
