  1. Unfortunately that was the thinking back in early August already. These boys have the heart for a few wins, but not sure if they have the patience. Hopefully no injuries come out of this game and district can start on a decent note.
  2. Looking for it to be a better season than the last 2 for sure. There is one definite though, this team will be more competitive than recent ones. This crew is young and has heart. Looking forward to the year. Prediction: Prairiland wins in a close one.
  3. That's pretty remarkable, but it'll be hard for him because he only knows how to play one way & that's ALL OUT giving 110% every play!!! Prayers for him to come out of the game healthy
  4. Very true, I guess it's a matter of the play on the field not backing up the words that are spoken. I'll be the first to tell you that seeing the district being down, I felt like we had a shot at the playoffs with a 2 or 3 seed and no Mineola waiting for us in the playoffs like back to back years 3 or 4 years ago. But the product on the field makes it hard for the die-hardest of fans to run their mouth.
  5. Not much of a smack talker here, I tend to spend my time in reality and right now it's not good in SE Lamar County. Not sure why Bells & Blue Ridge people don't jump on here because they've got something to be happy about and then there's Chisum - besides the Cooper game, they've taken care of everyone in district.
  6. No, JV and Varsity used it last week. More of an RPO though than a spread, but they didn't complete any passes at the Varsity level. On JV, the QB threw a few times but was usually handing it off.
  7. Either #5 or #6 now, can't quite remember, but a smaller kid. Quick and good hands out of the backfield, also plays in the secondary.
  8. In all honesty, as long as Cooper plays consistently, then Leonard will be a cakewalk for them. Short field, mental errors, turnovers, and lack of a kicker (had to go for 2 every time) is what killed us. Y'alls overall speed should still put you over the top. I had previously heard that they were having to field a team full of freshman, but that was wrong - only the QB is a freshman, but the RB is the only returning starter at a skill position from last year.
  9. Y'all should easily handle Bells and still run away with this district. Not having a kicker definitely hurts the Patriots, having to rely on 2 point conversions every time is not what you want to have to be doing. Hopefully we can put something together against Bells Friday and get on track.
  10. I'm curious about Bells, for a small school like that to carry 30 Varsity, 30 JV, and 24 kids on both the 7th & 8th grade teams - it's almost unheard of.
  11. True, but with a young core of players, I can easily see them back near the top next year.
  12. Definite confidence boost for any of these teams to get to the playoffs. Looking at recent years, all of them could use it, even if it means being throttled by 35 points in the playoffs.
  13. Patriots by 2 TDs. Leonard is young and are struggling. Prairiland surprised some people last week against Cooper, should be a win for the Patriots.
  14. 1. Cooper 2. Chisum 3. Bells 4. Prairiland 5. Leonard 6. Blue Ridge 7. Whitewright The bottom 4 are a true toss up. WW looks horrible, BR has a running back that looks huge but not much else, Leonard is young but should beat the bottom 2 teams so it really comes down to whether or not the Patriots bring it in the Leonard game to push for that 4th seed. Bells has shown how susceptible they are to the run and Chisum is a wear you down type of team up the gut. Cooper's speed just sets them apart though.
