  1. War of attrition, but I believe the Lobos speed at the edge will stretch them big boys out. Offense just needs to keep feeding these playmakers. Tatum, AJ, Hale, Reese are simply too much to contain for a full game, and Allen has really grown in his 3 years. Them boys for Timberview aint like them big boys from Lake Travis back in 08-09. Longview 49-14
  2. Any updates on how the O-Line is shaping up for 2019? To me, that is the biggest question mark. Don't matter how good the rest of the squad is, if the o-line is trash, it's gonna be a long day.
  3. Any chance he would just transition to full time AD (He is the AD as well right?). I really couldn't imagine him leaving Longview, but I could imagine him transitioning out of the stress (you know that man got the high blood pressure) of being a Head coach. Just a general thought.
  4. Oscar Wilson with 40 years as assistant coach at Longview. Think of all the great Running Backs to come out of there since he's been there.
  5. Yea after the Marshall and Rockwall games he had to go to the ICU for how burnt he was gettin. But seriously I think they took him out of the starting rotation after the Rockwall game I believe. He is a good corner, but would just play too aggressive and get toasted over the top.
  6. Coaching decisions are the difference. I hope that Gavin Robert's isn't done, if so then his injury is solely on Coach King for running a stupid draw play to end the first half. And only 9 passes? I mean we got what we wanted on the ground but come on. I'm confident that the team will come out ready to go, just hope it doesnt come down to a field goal.
  7. Any updates on Gavin Robert's? That stupid play right before half nearly cost us. I noticed the line struggled after half; losing a 3 year starter on the line will do that. Something to look at this week. Hats off to Tascosa for never giving up and giving us all we could handle.
  8. The only time I've seen a sign like this even come close to being true was against Mesquite Horn last year "Longview sure is fond of the L". Personally thought it was clever, but most of the time it just gets these young men fired up. It would be hilarious if they brought a sledgehammer out, ala Dallas carter in the 08 playoffs. Armadillo Tabasco aint ready.
  9. The reason I fell in love with Lobo football was because I love smashmouth football. This team is special in that they can and will play smashmouth, but can also do other things. we can talk about trying to stop the Tascosa running attack, but has anyone been able to stop Longview's running attack. I mean if they even dared to get meredith a little more involved, I can only imagine how dominate that 3 headed monster would truly be.
  10. The best defense sometimes is a potent offense. That's been the real key for Longview most of the year. Get up by a few scores early and it forces the other team out of what they want to do. If Longview hits the big plays (they will need to pull out some new stuff) then I can see the lobos forcing tascosa out of their comfort zone. If Longview has more than 1 turnover then they are gonna have a tough time.
  11. Man up the receivers, account for the other skill players, clog the gaps inside and force them to abandon the fullback dive part of the option, spy the qb, man up the pitch man, be disciplined.... easier said than done, but there's a reason not many true triple option attacks make it this far... I agree that we need a hat on the qb EVERY PLAY. I expect a few broken assignments but it is doable. Lister and writt will need to have their best games of the year And these guys are true gamers. I'm excited for another great game.
  12. "This isn't a football team that's built with a bunch of move-ins. This is a team that is Longview built. This is a community team and it started at an early age. That's what I'm so proud of. These kids have been through the program. This is Longview built and it's got a lot of pride to it."- Coach King This has always been what I've loved about Longview. Unlike a few other programs in the area (and hey, more power to those programs), we usually have kids move out in order to be able to start somewhere else. Longview has been homegrown football at its finest. Great win against a quality defense today.
  13. I see that 10 points a game, but is that because they are just so dominant? or is it because their competition was bottom of the barrel. I see they gave up 35 to North Shore and I would say Longview is around that level. I honestly don't see any team holding longview under 40 without Longview committing at least 4 turnovers. Just too much sauce.
  14. Do you know if Spring Westfield is an intimidation type of team? Where they try to get in their opponents heads early? That's one thing this Longview team hasn't really faced this year (from what I could tell) but I dont know if it would even matter. In years past it wasn't a problem (Dallas Carter 08 playoff game comes to mind).
