China Spring will be very good again this year. We were concerned about our QB graduating but then the new move-in helped those concerns. It will be tough moving up to Division 1 and #1 Stephenville in our district (as well as #8 La Vega). CS will be a tough out.

What a magical season it was! China Spring fans will talk about this one for a long time. Love those Cougars!

China Spring faced Lorena in the 2nd game of the year. I’m sure Gilmer is not the same team they were in week 2. China Spring will have the best defense Gilmer has seen this year and I have no doubt, Gilmer will be the best offense CS has seen. There’s a reason they are both in the championship! They’re good! Come on Friday!

I feel confident in picking China Spring although I am biased. I see some folks talking about speed from WOS. I think you might want to remember that China Spring has speed as well. I can guarantee WOS will not have faced a defense any better than what they will see Friday night.

#11 Faulkner is one I mentioned in a previous post. He is a stud and finally getting looks from Div 1 programs. Committed to Lamar but that could change.

Where?

I will not gloat. But this is a program defining win. To beat the best is an incredible honor. A day we Cougar fans will never forget!

It's not a fan favorite and I don't think it's what the school thought it would look like when it was ordered. My understanding next year will be a huge CS inflatable.

I will say this, the Carthage players on offense will need to have their heads on a swivel. Exline and Faulkner will come for them...

China Spring’s defense is very good. Don’t forget get that fact. Most points scored against this team have come in true garbage time. Just like last year, we are well aware that this will take an almost perfect game to beat Carthage.

This China Spring team is vastly improved especially on defense. The move-ins have also helped in the line. We know defeating Carthage will take an almost perfect game but that’s why they play the game!

Yes, China Spring will be up to the task...

Having played Gatesville in district, Carthage should have no problems putting the 2nd team in after half. Gatesville has some good players but they suffer from a lack of players and many go both ways. They are a scrappy bunch but just get worn out by the halftime.

You never, ever discount Carthage. I think that's a given. I will say this, China Spring is talented on both sides of the ball. All but one game this year has the 1st team been in during the 4th quarter. The defense completely shut down Salado last week and other than Lorena, who is state ranked in 3A Division 1, no one has come close to keeping up with CS. I think it would be a fantastic game.

They are a pretty special group this year.

Let's be honest, I'm not sure there are many teams in 5A-2 that could beat Carthage.. Maybe Aledo. It was an amazing season for our Cougars and I look forward to an even better 2021! And Carthage fans, enjoy this time as it won't last forever. As a Brownwood graduate.. I know what I speak.
