  1. Also have family in Mabank and in Gunbarrel City on Cedar Creek Lake come to think of it. My wifes family lives there.
  2. This is simply my humble opinion and nothing else. For Tascosa, this game is State! We do see Longview as the best team remaining. You have to understand that even the most ardent Rebel fans didn't see this coming (where we are at today) and we are excited and maybe a little over zealous. Amarillo hasn't had a dog in the hunt since 1992 and West Texas in general has been about as dry as the drought we have been having over the past 20+ years. Having said that, Tascosa is proud, and we have finally proven to ourselves that we can play on this level. All three of the last teams we have played were supposed to beat us, some worse than others. Each game, we have been able to adapt and execute. We struggled early, but we are peaking at just the right time. We, like everyone else have speed on both sides of the ball, and we also play heads up, smash mouth football. No other team that we have played will be anything like Longview. Yes, most youth leagues use a formation like we use, but they don't run a triple option and the triple option is NOT a misdirection offense like the wing-T. Getting a 9 year old to read a defense is like owning a toilet made of gold...isn't going to happen, and i'm sorry, its not the same. The triple-o is NOT the greatest thing ever and it has its faults, but its what we run, and we run it well! I agree with coach Plunk here! We are not that good until we prove it. We actually may not be taking this as seriously as we should, but we are having fun!
  3. Fair enough! We will see how well the Lobos can defend against it. It won't be decided here or on any other board.
  4. And I know you're not a DFW team, i'm simply using Allen and Duncanville as examples of outstanding defenses for comparison.
  5. The only reason I haven’t mentioned it in any detail is that I think it is great and goes without saying. Every pundent from Stepp on down has talked about it and on film I’ve seen it. It goes without saying in my book. I “think” that we run the triple-o well enough to score against any team but I have also mentioned before that we will need 2-3 stops and I’m not too sure we will get that. No disrespect on your D was intended.
  6. You should! This team is real and not many areas to exploit! It will take EVERYTHING we have to win, and then, maybe a Football God will have to sneeze to move that ball an extra inch! We know what we are up against and you will get not trash talk from me!
  7. I don’t think anyone thinks it’s unstopable, it’s just very difficult in 4 days to properly train a defense to stop it, especially having never seen it. You can’t just put 9-10 in the box and call it a day. That hasn’t worked for any of the past 4 teams. You are forced into having to outscore the offense. Tascosa gets 2-3 stops and it becomes a true problem. Speed isn’t a factor as we have plenty of speed to get yardage when we need it. Two of Haltom’s fastest safety’s couldn’t catch Campbell in a full out sprint and he isn’t even our fastest ball carrier. Longview plays assignment, and they win. They miss one, well, it gets interesting...real quick!
  8. I have never been so weary of a team like I am with Longview. Everything on paper means squat when you have a team that is great! A win by Tascosa would be a HUGE upset and I know that. Truthfully, we are just happy to be here, but we now have THE GOAL in site. I hope this is a battle to the end!
