  4. 2.10.23 COOPER UPDATE!#22 We are coming home, hallelujah our #22 is coming home!!! This has been a whirlwind of a week. After meeting with Dr. Azariah, Cooper’s rehab doctor, it was confirmed Wednesday, February 15th would be the BIG day. Even though we have been talking about this and planning for it for months, there is still so much to be done. I have been learning how to give Cooper his meds through is peg tube, learning how to use the feeding pump, and daily care. Terry has been transferring him from the bed to chair, ect… We have tried to be as much hands on as we could knowing this day would come. We have been ordering supplies, setting up doctor visits and home therapy sessions for a couple of weeks… it adds up!! But we are super excited!! Getting him home and getting the house ready for him as been a process. Our builder, Kory Moon, and his crew are taking care of Cooper’s bathroom renovation and from what I understand, anonymous donors for the supply and materials. We have decided to rent a medical van to transport Coop in for now because it is the safest way for him. He is so tall and long he doesn’t fit in my car. We think he has grown 2” since we have been here. Ty, Jenny and many others have been taking care of the other details you don’t think about. We are so grateful for everyone!! Next steps for Cooper: Dr. Azariah shared with us the lumbar puncture trial was positive and recommended placing the shunt. He has normal pressure hydrocephalus. This was based on several responses we saw in Cooper during PT. He took 4-5 big/full steps on his first lap in the gym, he used his own weight and strength to help stand up from his chair, and he was looking all around the gym. This was all new. The next day we recreated the same scenario. Same time, same place, same activities and nothing. Since then, we have spoken with Dr. Crutchfield who has been following Cooper’s progress every step of the way after leaving Tyler. He shared with us that Cooper’s latest CT scans looked good and can see positive changes since September. His ventricles are somewhat enlarged but nothing dangerous or alarming. With this information we have decided we would stay home and schedule an appointment with Dr. Crutchfield in a few weeks. This gives Cooper time at home, in his own environment with family and friends to see what he can do on his own without placing the shunt. We will reevaluate and make the final decision then. Specific prayers: Thank God for all of the wonderful people He his had placed in our lives, along with all of the constant and faithful prayers. Cooper’s trip home is safe and uneventful. Cooper will recognize his home, his family and friends, his dogs, his room and trigger something that will make him more aware and alert. God’s will… if there is another brain surgery in the future or not. This is such a big decision and we want to make the right one. Luke12: 6 “What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins? Yet God does not forget a single one of them. 7 And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Love, The Reid’s
  5. 2.08.23 Cooper Update: I wanted to hop on and give you all a quick update on our boy. Cooper has made great progress over last few weeks. He is still feeling better over all. The Remicade infusions have helped tremendously. He does still experience stomach pain at times, but thankfully it is controlled. Cooper has been taking in some (soft) foods by mouth. He has been chewing and swallowing and tolerating this well. He does still have peg tube feedings, but we are glad he is able to chew, swallow and enjoy some soft foods by mouth. Cooper has gained 9 pounds! He is finally getting adequate nutrition and regaining some strength. As always, Cooper is working hard during therapy. He is initiating some of the exercises and movements sooner than he has in the past. This is exciting to see. When asked question's, Cooper is now answering by nodding his head "yes" or shaking his head "no". Cooper has started using his voice to make noises and trying to communicate with us. He has not found his words yet, but this is one step closer to him talking to us. Thank you all for your faithfulness and continued prayers. They mean so much to us and we are forever grateful. We have been encouraged and wanted to pass this on to you all. Cooper is knocking down barriers and we are so proud of him. As said before, this is a marathon friends... With all of our prayers and Cooper's perseverance, He will finish this race! “ In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9

  8. 1.25.23 Please Pray Specifically today for Cooper’s Remicade infusion. Pray that this is successful and that he gets relief from his stomach pain. Pray that his transition to the hospital and back to TIRR (after infusion) is smoothe and a easy transition for him. Thank you all! 14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (‭‭‭Psalms‬ ‭19‬‬:‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬)
  9. Cooper is having a good week. He is working hard during his therapy sessions Keep praying friends! Lord, look upon Cooper with eyes of mercy. May Your healing hand rest upon him, may Your life-giving powers flow into every cell of his body and into the depths of his soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring him to wholeness and strength for service in Your Kingdom. Amen. Jeremiah 33:6 - Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security.

  11. Cooper Update from his parents! 1/9/23 In the past 4 months, Cooper has been a survivor, fighter and an overcomer. His bravery and hard work encourages us each day. He is already checking off goals we set for him when we first arrived here at TIRR and I know there will be more of that to come. 2023 is off to a good start. He is sleeping well at night and staying awake during the day. He is still in need of full support by his therapist and nursing staff, but he is feeling much better and able to participate in his therapy sessions to the best of his ability at this time. He has been on the stimulation bike to build strength in his arms and legs, the total gym for leg squats and relearning the process of walking again on the vector machine. He is getting stronger in his upper torso, neck/ head and learning how control his arm and leg movements. (We are seeing this on his right side). He is able to put pressure on his ankles and feet for a long period time and learning new ways to communicate with us. He is quicker with his responses and very accurate. So… so much to be grateful for. There are angels working and moving in this place and we are truly blessed to be here. As always, we continue to ask for your prayers, not only for his recovery but for his overall health as well. We miss everyone so much and can’t wait to see you all soon!! Romans 10:36 For everything comes from Him and exists by his power and is intended for His glory. All glory to Him forever! Amen
  12. Yesterday was another good day for Cooper He had a morning speech therapy session where he answered questions (by moving his head) quickly and consistently. During his afternoon physical therapy session he worked his legs out on the “total gym“. He was able to do leg presses on commands from Libby (his physical therapist) with a very low weight. This is so encouraging to see God is faithful and Good! Thank you all for your faithful prayers Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful
  13. Cooper Update! Your prayers are working friends. Susanne shared she was almost scared to share this afraid of jinxing his progress.. KEEP PRAYING They are working and we need to stay diligent. This is from Susanne Cooper has had 2 really good days back at TIRR. He looks so much better and you can tell he is feeling better. Everyone was so glad to see him back. They have all told me how much better he looks. Poor kid was so sick. One of his therapists said, ”I got my Cooper back” that was so encouraging to hear. He has been complaining about pain in his leg when we ask him what hurts. Today Libby his PT was doing an assessment on him and we discovered we think it’s his right hip. She is going to ask for an X-ray. This makes so much sense because when we turn him over on that side he moans and grimaces in pain. Praying it’s nothing too serious and something that can be easily fixed. Libby also thought at first we wouldn’t have to recast his right foot but she decided she wants to make it perfect and we are good with that so he will have a few more days in a cast. We were worried that all of her hard work and efforts over the past few months would be lost after 2 weeks in the hospital. Terry and I worked really hard keeping them in line so he won’t have another set back. Sounds like we did a pretty good job. This weekend and Monday will be slow due to another holiday but hopefully we will get to spend it at TIRR and not the hospital. We have heard he will get his 3rd Remicade infusion around the 14th and we should probably still be here for that. He is still at his baseline as far as his motor skills and his alertness but still praying that will come in time. I have been doing a lot of research and finding new ways that can possibly help Cooper once we leave for out patient rehab. We have decided CNS in Dallas is the best place for him. Our goal is to stay with him in Dallas during the week and be home on the weekends. We know once we get him home with family and friends he will continue to make progress. Please keep the prayers coming. They are working. We still have a long ways to go but I know we will get there. God is listening and interceding. Today I have hope and I wanted to share that hope with all of you!! God is good.. All of the time! All of the time… God is good! #pray4coop The Lord shall fight for you.. Ex 14:14
  14. Cooper Update! From Susanne : We are back at TIRR tonight after a 2 week stay at children’s memorial. Cooper was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and has had 2 rounds of the Remicade infusion. He is doing much better. We still have challenges to figure out but we feel as though we are heading in the right direction. He is still not following commands or verbal at this time but we are praying to see progress now that we are able to treat this disease the best we can and focus on rehab. We are very thankful to be back and praying for a new start for Cooper. Terry and I are doing ok. The text messages, cards, phone calls, fb messages keeps our spirits up and encourages us each and everyday. We thank you all for the continued prayers for Coop and hope to see everyone soon Keep praying friends!!! Pray for Coopers progress, and that he can focus on rehab right now without stomach pain or issues.
  15. Gracious God, I call on you right now in a special way. It is through your power that Cooper was created. Every breath he takes, every morning he wakes, and every moment of every hour, Cooper lives under your power. I ask you now to touch him with that same power. For if you created him from nothing, you can certainly recreate him now. Fill him with the healing power of your spirit. Cast out anything that should not be in him. Mend all that is broken. Root out any unproductive cells. Restore any blocked pathways, heal his stomach, restore his neuro pathways, and rebuild any damaged areas. Remove all inflammation and cleanse any infection. Let the warmth of your healing love pass through Cooper’s body to make new any unhealthy areas so that his body will function the way you created it to function. Restore Cooper to full health in mind and body so that he may serve you the rest of his life. Cooper is yours Lord Heal him so that he may do your work here on earth all the days of his life
  16. Cooper Update: 12.15.22 Cooper had the colonoscopy yesterday. They did a biopsy and have started treating him for ulcerative colitis, while waiting on biopsy results. They have admitted him to Children's Memorial to treat this. The plan is to start him on steroids and a Remicade IV infusion. Cooper will most likely be at Children's for at least a week. He will be seen by a GI specialist while at Children's and they will not send him back to TIRR until they see improvement with his GI issues. The Remicade could be a long term treatment plan for the inflammation in the stomach he has been experiencing. Though this may seem like a set back, we are grateful to be in the hospital under the care of a GI specialists. Cooper cannot make progress with rehab until his stomach issues are resolved. He has lost a lot of weight. He is weak, and just cannot give full efforts in rehab. As always, we are grateful you all have been so faithful to keep praying for us. I know you are checking the page regularly for updates. Thank you all so much for your continued prayers. Specific prayer request: Wisdom for medical staff. Accurate diagnoses and treatment plan for Cooper's stomach problems. Adequate nutrition to ensure healing and weight gain. Pain relief for Cooper. Faith and strength for Cooper, Terry and Susanne. "He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength...Those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." — Isaiah 40:29,31
  17. Cooper Update: 12.12.22 Praises: Casting has been successful. This process has given him more flexibility and the stability to hold his weight. Cooper’s torso and neck muscles are getting stronger. He is able to hold his head up for a short period of time by himself. Cooper is still having stomach issues. He is scheduled for a colonoscopy tomorrow. His Stomach is our main priority right now. He is down to 115lbs. They ran blood test to see if he is malnourished. Blood came back ok. Possibly going to put him on a iv drip nutrition. Also they are going to check to see if he is having trouble breaking down the food and absorbing it. They are looking at changing his formula to one where the protein is already broken down and then his stomach won’t have to do that. Specific Prayer Requests: 1. Safe and successful colonoscopy. Pray they accurately are able to diagnose and treat Cooper’s stomach problems. 2. Pray doctors prescribe the right medication to stop his stomach pain. 3. Pray for his vision to heal and return 4. Pray for more awareness and interaction from Cooper 5. Pray for his speech to return 6. Pray for faith, peace and wisdom for the Reid’s. Pray that they continue to feel our prayers and Gods comfort during this journey Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed
  18. Hi friends! Quick update on Cooper. He had a good weekend. He has speech and physical therapy today and is getting phenol injections in his feet. These injections help with muscle spasticity. Terry & Susanne are still researching outpatient rehab centers for when Cooper leaves TIRR. Please continue to pray for Cooper. Maximum efforts and results during therapy sessions Strength and endurance for Cooper Phenol injections and other treatments to have intended effect Peace and comfort for Cooper, Terry & Susanne Wisdom for Medical staff Wisdom for Terry and Susanne when choosing a facility for Cooper's next step. Please continue to pray for Cooper. He is doing exactly what he needs to do right now to regain strength, control of function and speech. His therapy is daily and repetitive. Repetition is so important during this stage. We have said it so many times, and it is till true. This is a marathon. and with your prayers and support, Cooper will finish the race. Your prayers for Cooper and his family give them strength and comfort during this time. Thank you! 1 Corinthians 15:57-58, “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.” Knowing that the victory will come through Christ, we are called to be steadfast, and abound in the work of the Lord.
  19. Hi friends.. I wanted to give a quick update for Cooper this week. Cooper has been experiencing headaches and stomach pain. He has been able to communicate this to his doctors using signs and answering yes or no questions. His doctors are working diligently to figure out the cause of this and a treatment plan. He has been working hard in speech therapy. He even was able to have a conversation with one of his doctors. It is amazing how they are able to find ways for Cooper to communicate his needs and wants. Cooper's therapist are working on gaining flexion and mobility in his ankles so that he can eventually support his weight. Cooper is sleeping much better and we are so grateful for this. With Cooper spending a week in the hospital, he is having to work hard to makeup for time lost in rehab. Susanne and Terry are starting to research outpatient therapy centers that specialize in TBI. When the time comes for Cooper to leave TIRR (we do not know when this will be), he will continue his daily therapy through a outpatient facility. Specific Prayer Requests: Relief from headaches and stomach pain for Cooper. Muscle Relaxation and Flexibility Maximum Efforts and Outcomes for Cooper during therapy Wisdom for Cooper's Medical Team Wisdom and Peace for Terry and Susanne in choosing a outpatient therapy location Rest. peace and God's comfort for Cooper and the Reid Family Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. We see you and we feel your love. Our strength comes from the Lord and your prayers to him. Psalm 28:7-8 7 The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. 8 The LORD is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.
  20. It doesn't matter what you say, their immaturity will always turn it around, to make you think your crying about what they say. This is the only life they have, so don't let them get you caught up in their meaningless life. I'm not sure their all adults!!!
  21. Urgent Prayer Requests!!!! Susanne asked me to share with you all that a scan has shown that Cooper has suffered a stroke. They have taken him to Children’s Memorial Herman. We ask that you all start praying now. 1.Pray for the medical staff to treat Cooper swiftly and accurately. 2.Pray for minimal deficits from this. 3.Pray for the medical staff to find what is causing this (if they can), and do everything they can to prevent this from continuing. *Honestly, I’m not exactly sure what to ask you to pray for yet, other than Lord, hear us! Jesus… put your hands on Cooper there is power in HIS name I will update as I know more. Matthew 21:22 And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.”
  22. Ok, I get it that Waskom had more penalties than WR. Do you think that could be cause they committed more penalties, or is it really the refs fault. I watch this game from the sidelines (standing on the track) last night. I am sure that the refs missed penalties and called some that were questionable on both sides. People are coming on here and saying WR is overrated, and they ain't any good. I have not seen anyone on here that has said WR is this world beater. It is not WR fault that they were put in the top ten polls all year. I seen 2 teams play hard last night. I seen 2 teams let their emotions get the best of them last night, but hey we are taking about 15,16,17 year old kids here. I'm proud that WR is moving on, I'm proud of Waskom for giving everything they had last night. This forum is getting really ridiculous, when we as adults seem to always want to talk bad about teenagers. Be proud of you team and support them without having to downright destroy another team to make you feel good. I love high school football and I have always been a Smoaky.com fan. I'm almost to the point that I would ask Smoaky to do the same thing with this forum that they have done with the Friday Night App. Just my 2 cents, which really ain't worth anything. Let's go Raiders work hard next week to get passed that next round.
