  1. Agreed. What do you think the other things are?
  2. So you think winning and treating kids with respect is mutually exclusive? I went back and reviewed your posts in this thread calling other posters ignorant, how you “know I’m right”, etc. How you talk to people speaks volumes. I already know how you would answer the above question so no need to reply.
  3. Why is that not true? Being good at it well that’s a different story. At this point schools are just looking for warm bodies. You can be crappy coach but still have a positive impact on a kids life if you love on em. If winning is your number one priority then go coach college or pro. More importantly if your super’s #1 priority is your record find a different place to coach.
  4. Ill be damned, I stand corrected.
  5. Sounds like to me many have forgotten that it’s just a silly game. There is no correlation between playing football (sports in general) and success in life after football. If coaches love it then it doesn’t feel like a job, if you don’t like the hours then just teach. If it effects your family life then quit because you never get that family time back.
  6. We have too many divisions in my opinion. I would love to see them go back to one champion for each A. Would also like see them only allow the top two in each district to go to playoffs. In “everyone gets a trophy” society we live in I doubt it will ever happen.
  7. It did on me. I never watched FSSW except the State Championship games annually. Switched to youtube TV earlier this year cause got tired of getting jobbed by DirecTV every year. Didn't notice I didn’t have channel to watch games until yesterday. Its no problem just decided to go hunting instead. If UIL wants to limit viewers by making an agreement with a network that has pretty limited viewing options then thats their prerogative but they are missing out on lots of eyeballs if thats of any consideration.
  8. I guess we will see next year but I think a team like Argyle and others that are moving up will take a couple of years to be legitimate contenders. Its not just about the top end talent but having 600+ extra kids to choose from also creates substantially more depth.
  9. LBJ team speed and particularly the WR’s is at whole different level of speed then Argyle and certainly Melissa. Lear can blow the top of any defense it just if the QB has the arm and time to get it to him against SV.
  10. WFH definitely represented. Fun to watch. Definitely think it was the best two teams on that side of the bracket. Before the game I thought SV would cakewalk to finals. That clearly didn’t happen.
  11. Got some breaks against Argyle but they whipped melissa dont let the final score fool ya. I think the right team came out of region 2. SV did win the games afterall. Hirshi much better then expected but SV always closes well.
  12. If you are going to the Star you are going yo wrong place unless you want to see Stephenville versus Wichita Falls Hirshi.
  13. SV was the better and more physical team. Melissa had all the momentum until they failed on the 4th and goal. Colossal mistake not taking those points. Thats just Melissa history. Eventually they do something stupid that cost them games in the playoffs. The real regional championship was last week between SV and Argyle.
  14. Defense wins championships. Has always been true and will always be true. Going back to the Melissa game I actually think Argyle had the better defense but the Argyle offense was atrocious. Part of that was the Melissa D but my gut tells me the majority of that was Argyle just had not found their offensive legs yet. Gonna be a great game.
  15. This is Argyle’s first chance to prove against a legitimate opponent their offensive changes since getting beat by Melissa are substantial enough to win the region. SV has handled everyone they faced up to this point. Even with offensive changes I just don’t think offensively Argyle are that dynamic. Just feel like SV is going to be able to put up a few more points in this one. I think whoever wins this game will win the region. Game of the year in 4A-D1 to this point.
  16. In my opinion watching the game SV was clearly the better team and score was closer then the game actually was. This is the real regional championship. I know the Melissa faithful probably think differently but honestly they are lucky to have advanced to this week.
  17. Melissa played Kennedale last year and Kennedale was undefeated. Melissa slaughtered them. District 6 is trash. Argyle names their score tonight.
  18. I like the chats and people getting chippy. When there is anonymity is when you get the most honesty. Especially like getting behind the curtain so to speak of different programs. There are some good coaches and programs and there are some dirty, slimy dogs in the business. If people don’t like the chats they have the freedom to not enter them simple as that.
  19. I’m just saying he didn’t play last week like you claimed so you were wrong and he wasn’t his sharpest after sitting. Don’t get your panties in wad dude even you are not right all the time huh.
  20. Fennegan didn’t even dress last week. Last night he threw a pic and missed more then a handful of passes. Are we talking about the same player? QB for Melissa right? Anyway Im sure they will be fine but it gets tougher each week from here. Melissa’s defense ain’t struggling, that d-line cannot be run against between the tackles. The backend of the D has some holes though. SV is the most complete team right it looks to me. Honestly I haven’t watch Argyle since the Melissa game but they have Coach Rodgers and an amazing staff and thats worth a ton come playoffs.
  21. My gut tells me the winner of the SV/Argyle game wins this region. MH could play spoiler, LV seems to be peaking and Melissa seems a little out of sorts since the game they beat Argyle before Argyle figured out what they were offensively. Whoever wins this region will be in the state finals almost assuredly.
  22. I don’t who is playing best. Stephenville is a complete team from what I have seen. Have not seen Argyle since Melissa, did they figure something out on offense? La Vega is an enigma to me. Heritage could jump up and bite someone. Melissa is solid but revolves around one player essentially. SV and Argyle will cake walk to regional quarters to face one another. The bottom of the bracket seems a little tougher. If Melissa makes it to regional finals they are going to have to go through Heritage and La Vega. If they make it how bad will they be beat up to get there? Going to be exciting.
  23. If Finnegin goes down Melissa is in big trouble. The backup QB just ain’t gonna get it done. That D is pretty stout but have yet to met a balanced attack like Celina in the first game of the season. If a team’s goal is to run between the tackles you can forget about against the Melissa D but the backend has some holes I feel. I actually think the RB #12 for Mrlissa may be the most important peice of the offense. Kid runs hard. Not much shake and bake but its gonna take 3 to bring him down more often then not. Whoever comes out of Region 2 will have earned it big time.
  24. Looks like region 2 is a 4 team battle right now with Stephenville, Melissa, Argyle and to a lesser extent but still part of the discussion Midlo Heritage. Argyle has a great defense, probably best of those four teams but their O will need to be more explosive to make noise in playoffs. Melissa has both a good O and reasonable D but not ready to call their D elite by any stretch. The win against Argyle was good but Argyle’s O is putrid until maybe last night which I didn’t see. Stephenville seems like the most complete team right now. After throttling LV you still wonder how good they are because LV is not a good team right now. I wouldn’t sleep on Heritage just yet. They have a good QB who will score points. Defense needs to step up a little but they played Melissa tight and if not for couple of dropped TD passes that game may have turned out different. Think maybe Argyle and Melissa meet again in regional finals. Question is can Melissa duplicate its effort against Argyle or will week 6 just look like a fluke against an Argyle team still searching for an offensive identity? Too tough to call right now.
