Poor former baseball coach.

Johnny is a rambling man, what is the over under on how long he will stay at Gwater?
I’d imagine this is a dream job for him since it’s his hometown. Unless a really huge job opportunity rises I’d imagine he stays in GW for a while.

You’ve obviously been to one of these games. It is an intense rivalry regardless of who wins. Both teams leave feeling like they been in a fight. Neither team wants to lose to the other and even in down years either team has a chance.
Honestly, when these two get together you never know who will win. No matter what the records are.
It’s a great gym. Small, and I can’t remember what the visitor side looked like, but union grove and Hawkins gyms are very similar, but grove obviously is bigger and a few years younger.
I think a shot clock would be wise. These boys have to learn how to score on good ball movement and clock management at some point
Heard it’s a former coach from a few years ago. Very respected guy, has football background, but solid overall. Girls coaches are extremely happy that it isn’t a guy who is just worried about guys athletics.

Every other team in this district is pretty good.
I figured that much. I mean haven’t won a game. Every team is obviously better. I just didn’t know if it was coaching finally showing it lack of ability or just not enough talent from harmony.
What’s Harmonys deal this year? They aren’t always a great program, but usually aren’t this bad.

Rebuild? Coach Turner was what.... 57-13 or something like that? 3 deep what? 3 times? Semi one year? No disrespect, I know you love the Bux, but..... I get your proven HC remark but.... rebuild our program?
I agree with this! Our program hasn’t dropped off. We had a way better record and faced many of our tough opponents better this year than the past two years. Even with our worst record two years ago we went deep in playoffs. I understand wanting someone with some fire, but if you spend just a few moments on Twitter and see all the love former players have for Turner you can see that we need more guys like him. He continued to put out some talent. We are still in a really good spot. Just because we didn’t win state and continue the 5 year tradition doesn’t mean we are at a downfall. Let’s be real and understand we are doing things right and Gilmer is still a premier job. Whoever gets the position is going to be lucky, and will work their butt off to make sure they don’t get run out of town.

That's what worries me. It may not be "truly open".
Yeah, Metzel and Barr have to be the first coaches asked to lead. Lane at PT would be next I would think

IMO, hire needs to be outside the circle. Something fresh.
Gilmer changing anything would be a surprise. Gilmer prides in tradition and I would be shocked if they hired anyone without Gilmer ties or inside hire. Someone who can have that swagger and charisma of Jeff, but still run the same system is what I expect

Could Pine Tree coach be the replacement for him?
Would be a good hire
Man the 2014 Gilmer and Gladewater game was the best. Cold night but a packed stadium. Gilmer went on and won state, but nothing compares to that game.
another is a 2011 Tatum vs Harmony. I believe if I’m not mistaken this was the year that Harmony upset Tatum with a missed field goal attempt. Harmony played their best game and Tatum didn’t have Jalen Overstreet, but was still an upset. I’m from Harmony, and was watching this game in the stands, but still would be my second best game of the decade for me.

Yes, this is what I was told by a reliable source close to the situation at that time. The jump in pay helped his retirement pay, from what I understand.
Turner has too much energy. All of his players will tell you they forget he is 60. He was the offensive mind behind Traylor, and it only made sense to promote him. He also is a good guy, money has nothing to do with him taking the head coach position.

Coach Metzel is one of the best men you will ever meet.
No doubt. Metzel also pastors a church in winsborro. I just don’t see him leaving. I think turner leaving would be a bigger possibility. He was OC during the “Glory Days” of Gilmer football and Traylor always credited Turner for the offense. It was his masterpiece.
Great hire, great place, and back in Texas. Excited to see what he will do at UTSA

leach signed an extension this morning. something tells me it was because he wasnt offered another job.
Traylor in the lead for the Lamar job. i guess if he is going to leave arkansas i hope he gets a head job somewhere.
I think Wash St can read articles like us. Leach had his name in multiple jobs. It would be stupid for them to not offer Leach more money to stay.
Traylor will get a head coaching position soon. Has a promise to beat SMU for not picking him and going with Dykes at the last second. With a new Head Coach I would say most of the assistants are probably gone and Traylor is smart for trying to get his own head coaching job.

Typical Spring Hill fan, jealous as usual! Overconfidence hasn't been a problem for "most" Buckeye fans for at least the last couple of seasons, but there's always going to be those that are..., yet it seems that "most" SH fans are just jealous of Gilmer's success for the last couple of decades. I can understand that frustration because when I went to school at Gilmer we were lucky to get more than 1 win. It definitely wasn't because we didn't have the athletes. Most of the athletes in my day were walking the halls during the day, and working in the evenings.
The last time I saw an overconfident buckeye going against Spring Hill was 2010 and that was a 76-0 beat down. Confidence might be the best quality we have.

Win, lose, or draw I'm right there supporting our community every week. I just love this time of year. I might talk a little trash every now and then, but it's all in fun. Trust me I want us to Win, but when we dont...I'll be the first to congratulate the other team. Sometimes you are just out played in a chess match.
But with that being said I hope to keep our momentum going with a W this week. Them Bux's are improving weekly and just want them to stay on track. Still have a lot of games to play. This game is just as mental as physical.
Yep! Good group of guys, and they are improving a lot every week. Especially on Defense. Going to be a good game, and I can’t wait to see what our boys do to the panthers.

Should have been last year.
Should doesn’t count. Win is a win.
When is the last time Spring Hill beat Gilmer? Just curious?
Tonight Carthage and Gilmers season ends!
in High School Sports
Gilmer is already three points away from his prediction and it’s not halftime yet.
