  1. Papers will talk about his football success, but his impact goes far beyond that. As a parent with kids in the program, this man’s work goes far beyond football. He pushed our boys to be the absolute best they could be, in life, the classroom, and on the field. Without details, my son dealt with a lot of adversity this year with things that were out of our control. Coach K was there to guide him and love him every step of the way. The reason he is retiring is absolutely heartbreaking. I’m angry and sad. This man and his wife, who is one of the best educators I have been around, are truly wonderful people, and it breaks my heart knowing the tough road that lies ahead. Their entire family has given more to our community than could ever be repaid. Coach, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for the impact you have had on my kids, their friends, and our community. We are all better people for being around you. I love you!
  2. They were good this last year. We were fortunate and able to jump on them early, and their offense isn’t really built to come from behind.
  3. Yep. They fullback they had this year is a stud, and he will be back next year
  4. QB Tanner Schafer. 31-0 as a starter. 7900 yards, 100 TD, 9 INT. 73% comp. RB Chance Cook. 2100 rush/400 rec senior year. Played at Oklahoma State. WR Cameron Copley. 3 basketball rings, 2 football rings
  5. I don’t think it’s a numbers related thing. Canadian is small, but has ran the spread pretty good. Same with Mart and Refugio. katy is huge, and they run the I and power I very well. I think it comes down to coaching and personnel.
  6. I know Cavalier had 3069 passing yards, 1500 rushing, and 67 TD this year. I have no problem with him getting it, but I am a homer!!!
  7. Hope so! Canadian has some key players to replace, but brings back all skill position players. wall was young this year as well, but I think they are too one dimensional.
  8. I can confirm. We had too many penalties, and missed opportunities. Could have sealed the game on GT final drive but our own player tipped an easy interception away from our own player. Before the final 1.5 minutes, I believe we held GT to 25 yards passing (like 2-9), and at 125 rushing. Canadian had 150 yards more offense, but too many drive stopping penalties. At least 3 false starts on 3rd and short. I think a game with Poth would have been just as ugly as the GT/Poth game. Hopefully the kids lace them up against each other next year!
  9. Yes sir. #3 deflected the the ball and 11 couldn’t adjust quick enough. after watching film this morning. The second TD GT had (pass) was an interception by 9. You can watch in slow motion and clearly see it. Reciever never had possession, our guy grabbed it on the way down. Problem is refs can’t see in slow motion. A lot of what if’s. Canadian won the game for 46.5 minutes, but the last 1.5 minutes is what counts. Tough loss, but we will be back
  10. Thanks man. Same to y’all. Both defenses came to play, and there is going to be some sore kids in the morning.
  11. What to say…….First, congrats Gunter! Go win state! Couldn’t be more proud of our boys. We had our opportunities. Slick field, bad snap on PAT, QB gets hurt, dropped pick to close out the game. This one stings. But, that is football. We shut the run game down, but couldn’t stop the pass at the end! Credit to GT players, staff, and community! Hope we see y’all next year!
  12. 190 rushing, 40 passing. That came on 2 drives though. Their first drive on game, and first drive of second half when we started subbing. Canadian never punted, and scored every possession but the last (we ran out the clock).
  13. @2Punks @GTAlumnus @blueflu safe travels today!
  14. I watched game on NFHS, and here is my 2 cents, for what it is worth. Refugio changed offense at the beginning of the year to be more physical/powerful run game. They lost a game, and the locals were getting restless. Flash forward to tonight, and that Diamond power run paid dividends. Think what you want of Herring, but he is not stupid. He knew going into this year he would NOT be able to out athlete Timpson, and he adjusted. Timpson had more athletes, Refugio was the better TEAM (coaches, players, scheme). They ran the ball down Timpsons throat, and wore them down. IF Timpson wants the ship next year, they will have to be more physical.
  15. I believe so. Canadian Sportsnet will provide audio, and they are really good as well. Unfortunately, the UIL won’t allow them both at the same source. You can play both but there is normally a few second delay between the two.
