  1. Sounds like some good adjustments by Shelbyville, and some nice plays from their Sr's.
  2. A lot could be learned here. Those 4 and 5 minute drives are a good thing with a score or two mixed in. Too many high scoring games and 1k combined yards for me.
  3. I'm not there, but they must be doing something right? Only down 2 scores after one half.
  4. Carthage by as many as they want. It will be hard for Center to score and even harder for them to stop Carthage. Dawgs 60 plus Riders 21. Most of the Riders points will be in garbage time.
  5. His role will grow, and I would bet a large sum that if he had the same amount of carries as Edwards he would have more yards. He is lot bigger, stronger and more explosive. He is also still very inexperienced! No telling how good he might end up being!
  6. Can't disagree with you at all. SA is loaded with athletes, but their youth has showed this season. If they can avoid costly penalties and mistakes they should be heavily favored.
  7. This is actually a big rivalry game. SA has had the upper hand over the years, but it doesn't matter. Both teams will be up for the task! Shelbyville has won the last 3 years, but I'm pretty sure that has never happened going all the way back to the 60's. SA has always been bigger numbers wise, but not in recent years. Shelbyvilles QB/ best athlete is banged up for sure, but he will play if at all possible. If he does it will be a high scoring shoot out. If he doesn't play they will have to use a different strategy. They do have some size and a lot of Sr's. They could slow things down and try to make it a physical battle instead of the finesse style they usually play. It should be a spirited game either way. I'm taking the Dragons by a score.
  8. On the subject of the refs I feel everyone's pain. I wasn't in attendance, but I've noticed the overall massive decline in officiating quality these past few years. The root of the problem is the mass shortage. It's not just refs either. It's teachers, and coaches as well. I rant on here a lot about the overall decline in small town highschool sports, but this officiating deal is a legit concern regardless if you agree with me or not on my death of the small town analogy. The officiating is great once you make it to AT&T, but what about all the other thousands of games? I say the UIL needs to fix it!! They can! Heck, I would even suggest schools factor it in their budgets to pay enough money for quality officiating. Why not? They waste millions in other areas.
  9. Wow! SA wins! I didn't expect that at all. Congrats to the young Wolves on a big win!
  10. Rams. SA is more athletic, but they make way too many crucial mistakes. They have a lot of bad turnovers and untimely defensive breakdowns. Rams by 21 plus.
  11. I know the kid very well. Have for a long time. He is a really good all around athlete and a great kid. On the being elusive part you are right. He has had a LOT of practice eluding rushers these last three years. He is actually more of a true QB than Bussey just not as fast. Bussey is one of the best athletes in the country that just happens to play QB. He will do well at receiver in college, or defensive back.
  12. Good post but I disagree. All the extracurricular activities put a tremendous strain on kids and their family's. It's too much I think. I know it's been going on for a long time but it's my opinion, and my mind can't be changed. Factor in all the social dynamics and it's even more so. I believe in extracurricular activities, but I think the whole process should be scaled back a bit. Especially before the age of 16 or even 17. I actually have a situation going on where someone in my family isn't participating in any extras this year. He is 15 years old, and has had a decent amount of success in sports. This year we are focusing on grades, exercise with full 100% rest and recovery, and good nutrition. So far the grades are up tremendously and he is in the middle of a massive growth spurt where most people thought he was done. The goal is to adjust and build up for the grind of high school sports. Focusing on the last two years. We have done the traditional way in my family multiple times over the last 50 years or so. We are all in agreement that it would be greatly beneficial to slow down a little. Again, these are opinions. To each his own, but so far we don't regret going this route. Starting next year we will see how the last two years go compared to how they did for the rest of us. We all unanimously agree that burnout and fatigue hurt our careers, and made the experience less.
  13. 3 and 4 are very much wide open. Shelbyville will probably get third, but they are very beatable. It depends on how well their remaining opponents can evaluate game film.
  14. I never said it was close. The fact is though SA was in the Timpson backfield more often than not. Just so happens Timpson has one of the top athletes in the Nation plus two other big time D1 players. Not many people have had much success trying to tackle Terry Bussy for four years now! If SA gets in Shelbyvilles backfield like that they will most likely win the game. They won't be trying to corral Mr Texas Football!
  15. Garrison is a good team. They ran the ball well, and got good pressure with their pass defense. I know a lot of people think they will beat Timpson. Or want them to, but I don't see it happening at all. I've been wrong before though.
  16. No, they don't but they put one together and played Centers freshman team during one of the bye weeks. They used several varsity players but not any of the full time starters.
  17. This is surprising. West Sabine is either way better than I thought or something is going on in SA that is a systematic issue I watched Timpson and SA and the SA big boys up front did a lot better than the score indicated. I thought they would fare well tonight.
  18. Dang! It's a long game. Shelbyville and Garrison is under a minute in the 4th. Garrison 49 Shelbyville 14.
