Shelbyville came back from 3 runs down last night to beat Garrison 4-3. Shelbyville remains undefeated in district while handing Garrison their first district loss. Garrison was up 3-1 late, but Shelbyville was able to score 3 runs in bottom of the 7th. The winning run scored on a squeeze play. What a game.

They will play again Friday in Garrison. I'd encourage anyone that wants to watch some really good baseball to come out.

Two of the best in the region!

Have you read the book? Are you ok with it. I would cherry pick SEVERAL pages and post them but I promise, the mods would ban me for life. Completely inappropriate. Teach the class. Don't push agendas.

I don't think there are many readers on ol smoaky.com

In 2003 when Garrison won their state championship we were one of the smallest schools in the state in that classification (now 3A DII)

They were really dang good too.

Yes, but we won our state championship at what is now 3A DII ... if we were playing down in the Pee Wee leagues we would have 4 or 5 state championships ....

I submitted the following information to the UIL. Published and sent anonymously to avoid reprisals against me or my family.

Subject: Report of Rules Violation by Coaches at Lovelady ISD

    December 1, 2023

Dear Mr. Beasley and Mr. Martinez,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention an issue that I believe requires immediate investigation. I would like to anonymously report a rules violation by football coaches at Lovelady ISD, which took place during the Summer of 2023.

I and others attended the Corrigan 7-on-7 State Qualifying Tournament on June 10, 2023, and observed at least three or four coaches from Lovelady ISD coaching on the sideline throughout the entire 7-on-7 Tournament.

This behavior raised concerns and suspicion, as it appeared to violate the UIL rules and fair play standards set for the competition. I believe it is essential to address this matter promptly to ensure the integrity of the competition and maintain a level playing field for all participants.

I have attached relevant evidence, a photograph of the coaches coaching on the sideline during a 7-on-7 tournament, that may support my observations. Additionally, I am sure that coaches and parents in attendance at the tournament may have observed the same thing.

I trust that the UIL takes such matters seriously and will conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the reported incident. Maintaining the integrity of the competition is crucial for all participants, and I appreciate your attention to this matter.

Please keep me informed of any developments in the investigation and the actions taken to address the reported incident. You can reach me at this email address, which I check frequently.

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter, and I look forward to a fair resolution.

    Sincerely,
    John Smith

The reply I received from Mr. Martinez was:

    Mr. Smith,

Thank you for sending us an email and bringing to our attention the possible UIL coaching violations. Ensuring that all our schools follow the UIL rules and guidelines is one of our top priorities. Our compliance director, Darryl Beasley, will contact Lovelady ISD to address any possible rule violations.

    Regards,

I think this is a great troll TBH. This wreaks of something you’d see in the hay day of The Old Coach.

In the event it’s not, however, I wouldn’t go to Corrigan for 7 on 7. There’s a rat involved with one of the teams and it could be a LL parent.

And, if this IS real, I hope the coaches find out who he/she is and boot the kids out of the program as well as ban them from athletic events.

I get rules being rules but for something to come out of this half a year later is beyond asinine. I shouldn’t be surprised though because this is par for our world right now.

It is usually one of your own  people who try to turn you in. Very few regular parents actually know the rules regarding what is allowed and what isn't. It's usually a disgruntled member of your own community.

Which is a shame, because if they would have spent more time playing catch with their kids or working on skills and less time googling UIL rules everybody would get along fine 🤣
