I’ve got an interesting, ESPN type, stat for everyone that thinks Carthage might win this game. In the history of Rusk HS football the Eagles have never lost a home game to Carthage, in October, with Sitton as the head coach. Y’all might need to pump the brakes on the shut out talk since this Bulldog team is attempting to do something no other Carthage team has ever done. Just saying

This thread has been understandably slow and I believe it’s due to the outcome not being in question. After careful consideration I have decided to play the antagonist. In my opinion irrelevance is a fate worse than death. So I will try to at least make this thread relevant for entertainment purposes.

I can definitely see that second comment being a little wacky. I could read “any better offensive staff” to mean as good but not claiming THE BEST. The initial part clearly states Carthage has the better staff. It could be insulting to all of the other teams y’all play, “will not face another coaching staff better” but not the Carthage staff. There is no reason to try and prove a point on Friday because of one ill advised comment. Keep in mind that Cherokee county allows liquor to be purchased by its citizens. As the most vocal, possibly only, Rusk representative I would like to extend my sincere apologies for that post. I will take great pride in seeing “Rusk” included on the list of victims in Carthage’s ninth title tour. I would prefer it not be the one that jumps out on the list like 72-0 or something. Let’s aim for a 42- 0. That’s a win/ win situation. The Bulldogs get another shutout and their second largest margin of victory this year and the Eagles can show progress from the 51-7 score from last season. That seems really fair to me.

Y’all just keep throwing that bait out there but I’m not biting. I am fully aware of the beating headed our way. I do get a chuckle from all the coaching staff comments, Obviously that hit a nerve.

The point differential in this game will be the total number of points Carthage scores. I could see Jasper’s defense holding Carthage in the 20’s or below if they could avoid 3 and out on offense a few times. Jasper could potentially score a special team or defensive TD but I can’t see them scoring on offense. Carthage shuts down good offenses and Jasper does not have an average offense. If Carthage comes out early and scores this game will be ugly. If Jasper plays the way they are capable on defense they could keep it closer. I think Jasper’s defense will be on the field too much and Carthage will have too many opportunities not to capitalize.

That should keep him busy for a while.

Yes, I am joking. How else could I respond to your jab? We scored zero because they were drunk? Jasper was stealing our play calls? We were saving all the good plays for Carthage? It’s difficult to sugar coat that pitiful display and save face.

I don’t know if this is true but supposedly Rusk’s offensive coaching staff was in Carthage scouting on Friday and let the JH staff coach the Jasper game. That’s the only logical explanation for a staff of this caliber to produce a big fat ZERO on the scoreboard.

Obviously Carthage has Gilmer’s offense figured out. They seem to be the only team with the answer but they definitely have it. The best they could manage to score in a game last year was 14 so one less TD this year is not surprising. People are fooling themselves if they think Gilmer has “closed the gap”. Once Carthage gets things ironed out on offense, and they will, the gap will reappear. I don’t think Carthage can get to where they were last year offensively, because Courtney and Horton made them unstoppable, but they won’t need to.

That’s odd since he is also playing for Manchester HS in Georgia. Poor kid will probably wish he had kept playing for Manchester HS in Georgia if WOS meets Rusk in the playoffs. Our O-line might hurt the little guy.

Because fans get mad at the coach when kids don’t tackle and block. When fans say we were out coached or they were better prepared, ect... its because they can’t say our kids are not as good as their kids. (more often than not)

Carthage by 14. The bulldogs run their consecutive win streak to 36 before they lose another game.
