  1. That’s a kid that moved in from the Houston area. Super quick and unbelievable hands. He plays with a LB mentality and will flat out smoke people when he’s blocking. A little chatty at times but a great addition to the team.
  2. Thanks! The DE #23 I think. Good looking kid and a great addition for our defense. They don’t list players size on the roster but I would guess he’s 6’1 225 and the kid can run.
  3. Eagles flying under the radar with a 4-0 start. They took Bullard behind the wood shed last night 58-22. Up 41-15 at halftime both teams agreed to a running clock the last two quarters. Rusk racked up 631 yards of offense. Owen McCown had a nice night going 30-35 467 yds, 4 TD 0 INT and ran for another score. Competition will jump up once district starts but hopefully we can give some teams a decent game.
  4. It seems like the woodville folks base some of their evaluation on the scrimmage with Rusk. I don’t think they will look at that performance in the same way once the season starts. Woodville needs to take care of the ball better on offense for sure but their defense might be better than they appeared. Rusk’s offense will be one of the best units around. The pass game will rack up the yards and points this year. They are tremendously better than last year but it will take a few games before people realize. I can’t say whether they will win their game Friday but their folks are overreacting about the last scrimmage.
  5. I guess “winning the whole thing” has more than one meaning.
  6. PG has a tough schedule but I don’t see it being any tougher than Gilmer’s. Both have Carthage. PG has Argyle and Gilmer has Lindale. The other two non district opponents for both teams are winnable games. Just my opinion
  7. Tatum and Rusk scrimmage tonight in Tatum. JV/V start around 6:00pm
  8. Personally I hate it. I think these kids (the RB decided he was going to play this year btw) are pushing or being pushed to grow up faster than is necessary. Most people will agree that you can’t predict the future and for every kid that makes this move successfully there will be many that do not. As adults we begin to realize how important it is to “live for today”. I’m not saying you shouldn’t make plans for the future but you absolutely need to enjoy the moment. Our obsession with fame and fortune is creating a generation of people who live in a fairytale world. When reality hits they are unable to cope so they either blame society or give up. Athletics after HS is NOT a sport it’s a business. NIL or not you are commodity in a multi billion industry that’s only concern is the financial bottom line. Be a kid, enjoy it, create memories. You have the rest of your life to deal with the BS of adulthood.
  9. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. They may give some suggestions to help mitigate but there will not be a repeat of 2020 with all of the mandates. The “leaders” had the benefit of the unknown last time and it doesn’t exist now. I don’t want to minimize the seriousness of the virus or the loss of loved ones but it’s not going to wipe out the planet like we were led to believe.
  10. Is the property located in the part of Arkansas that folks have teeth and the family tree forks? Asking for a friend
  11. While at the same time removing Hendo’s achievements. Don’t leave out that part
  12. Thank goodness for you d0tc0m. I was beginning to think I would have to limit my jokes to potty humor.
  13. Kilgore is the team that beat Chapel Hill in the 2010 State Championship. the punchline is with all the similarities between CH then and Rusk now I’m only predicting Kilgore to win state. is this thing on? Hello?
  14. This is something to keep an eye on: In 2009 Chapel Hill had a new coach, Thomas Sitton. They finished the season 5-5 and 4th place in their district. The winner of their district was Gilmer who beat the bulldogs 45-7 and proceeded to win the state championship with a perfect record. In 2010 Coach Sitton’s Chapel Hill team started the year not ranked in the DCTF top 25. They finished the year 13-2, won the district championship, beat Carthage 46-14, and lost in the State Championship. In 2020 Rusk had a new coach, Thomas Sitton. They finished the season 5-6, but lost the last game by forfeit and finished 4th place in their district. The winner of their district was Carthage who beat the eagles 51-7 and proceeded to win the state championship with a perfect record. In 2021 Coach Sitton’s Rusk team is starting the year not ranked in the DCTF top 25. If history is any indication of the future, and it usually is, I think it’s reasonable to forecast what will happen this year. Kilgore will win a State Championship.
  15. Whatever it is you can’t get it in Rusk, Texas. We might have one kid in whole HS that size and she doesn’t play sports.
  16. Center might not be as good without Horace and a new coaching staff settling in but they have plenty of talent. Jasper lost those monster O-linemen but they will be good again. Rusk will surprise a few people. They have a chance to be one of the better teams in 4A D2.
  17. If BSD is predicting PG big then Rusk is in great shape. BSD quote, “I think there is 1 really good team left with a couple just behind them. CC Calallen is probably the best with Argyle and Sinton not far behind. Sinton plays CC in the regional final. I don’t think reg 3 is much. Rusk #1 guy is good but that’s it. Region 2 plays about the same. No team is great, just 4 that are very similar. “
  18. Absolutely. Mason Cirkel, Junior lefty. He’s allowed 1 run in 20 innings during the playoffs. He’s a gamer.
  19. It might be the only way to replace the current image movie patrons have of Carthage.
  20. Maybe it’s different for State but the UIL guidelines don’t list an exception.
  21. Well then I guess they can roll with any of their Aces on Wednesday
  22. I would think he, Blake Mitchell, would be their “ace” and he went 7.1 innings so he’s unavailable but I think the Senior Wyatt Wiatrek is their actual #1 or one of several #1’s for Sinton. 6’3 205 righty who also is committed to LSU and throws 90. Really Really good team
  23. If they had a pitcher throw 86 or more pitches today that pitcher can’t pitch on Wednesday. I don’t know who pitched for them or how many pitches they threw.
  24. Pleasant Grove vs Stephenville 1:00 pm Rusk vs Sinton 4:00 pm
