  1. Unfortunately most DECs dont have the intestinal fortitude to stand up and do what they know is right. They will just roll over and stamp him eligible after his 15 days from the first day of enrollment (today) is up. They dont want the hassle.
  2. Kid could live with his dad and still play at HS. Like was posted, not a issue of district.
  3. I don’t disagree. Just was posting what was going on. but i am sure the district will let him be eligible as the wont want to fight it. That is after he sits the 15 days.
  4. Kennedy’s father lives in Daingerfield and from what was told is enrolled at Daingerfield
  5. Again. You deflect to something I never said. I never said Joaquin coaches were scared or didn’t have “intestinal fortitude “. you have dont this a few times. Everyone here can read and see that.
  6. Exactly what I thought. Can’t debate the actual question just like last night when I posted exactly how the game postponement went down and who decided not to play today. you deflect into something not even related. oldest trick in the book when you have lost the debate. good luck the rest of the way.
  7. EF had Gunter scheduled for week 1 at a neutral site. Confirmed by both coaching staffs. Gunter cancelled back in Feb because they wanted a game closer. That is fact. I do business with all these east texas schools. But you want people to believe that EF was scared to play San Augustine. ok.
  8. please explain what hearsay my buddy said that was untrue? You just said thr coach told you his reasons for Not playing tomorrow. That is exactly what I posted he said. He didn’t want to play. I didn’t post any reason for him not wanting to play, just that he was ready to move on. That exactly what my buddy said. Seems you confirmed that
  9. No its not a forfiet. My friend did not at all say anything about anyone being scared to play anyone. Just the Joaquin coach was not wanting to play tomorrow and seemed to him just ready to move on. the decision to not play tonight was a mutual decision by both coaches
  10. Ef coach wanted to play tomorrow at 6. Joaquin coach said no, he didn’t want to. Buddy was standing there under the awning with EFs Ford and Joaquin’s Lawson and 3 refs in front of the locker rooms when Ford asked him to play tomorrow at 6. Lawson then said he was going to the press box to get them to make the announcement the game was canceled and not made up weather forecast is fine tomorrow, only a 10% chance always feel bad for the kids in these situations, the seniors get a game taken away. No reason not to play tomorrow. EF even plays in Thursday next week and was willing to play tomorrow. my buddy got a sense that the Joaquin coach was happy just not to play and move on. he said many other EF fans were standing there and a few Joaquin fans when Ford made the offer to play tomorrow. Said both coaches were impressed the field was still in great shape tonight after all the rain I wish it would have bern canceled in Diana tonight;)
  11. Friend there said their is no way they are playing tonight. Terrible lightning and rain and still coming.
  12. Sounded about like most people Thought. Tough hard fought game.
  13. Been flooding here in Diana for 2 days
  14. Saw him last year in a game and some video highlights of him. Jackson Illingworth from Elysian Fields is the real deal. #4, says 6'2" 205. Reading up on him he was 3rd team all state last year and had 166 tackles and 10 sacks in 2019. In Longview paper today was their defensive player of the week, opened the season with 23 tackles against Harmony.
  15. Yes, each realignment year ( every 2 years) you schedule your non district opponents in 2 year contracts, then the next realignment comes out and you do it again.
  16. Scheduling is not that easy. You have to work with the opposing coach to make sure you both have enough home games. They are 2 year contracts. So if EF would have played at home against them, next year they only would have 4 home games. You dont just call up the coach at Joaquin and tell him, we are playing and we are going to play it in EF both years. He would then tell you to go....
  17. Hard to schedule sometimes.Their Non dist has Harmony, Winona and Daingerfield other than Joaquin. Pretty salty. And Joaquin will bring it
  18. I read that they will not play their first 3 days, the first day back at school will be Sept 10th and that is a Thursday and only give them that 1 day to try and practice and that of course isnt enough.
  19. What a great country/state we live in that we get to go enjoy HS football, the bands, drill teams. While doing this, try to keep something in mind, they are kids. Also when you come home from the game and you have kids that participate in any of these activities, or just school age kids, remember that they look up to you as parents, guardians, family leaders. Dont come home and curse the coaches, band directors, drill team/cheer sponsors. If you do, you are teaching your kids those lessons. Then they go back to school and question the same people. In MY OPINION is is part of the issues we have in our country these days. Remember those people in those leadership positions have families, etc. I hear all the time, well they signed up for this and that. Yea, in a way. But they are not professionals in the sense that they dont make millions. I one time sat down with a HS coach and figured out his pay, then figured out his hours worked, then added the money he spent out of pocket for gas to pick kids up, food, etc. trust me, as many of you well know, they dont do it for the money, not even close. I am sure those numbers are close if not the same to band directors and sponsors of cheer/drill team. Remember those kids read Smoaky also, if you post the same stuff, they see it. Have a great opening night and season. I hope it can be a little more civil in the stands, the homes and online than in the past years. After what the nation has gone through the past 6 months with Covid 19, everyone deserves the respect. Thanks and Go Eagles
  20. link is in thread pinned at the top of the page
  21. There are no leaders in the Southland. bunch of cowards in the league office. Sam is shameful also. I am a grad. I quit donating after they have let Keeler continue to kill the program that was built by Coach Fritz. slowly but surely he has changed to formula that Fritz put in place that put Sam in the upper class of 1-AA. Bobby Williams has always just been a yes man at AD. Keeler had great success under the Fritz formula of adding D1 transfers and mixing them 70-30 (70 HS kids) with the HS kids. Sam never saw the kinds of success. Formula there, just dont screw it up. Instead he started wanting to limit the number of transfers and trying to build a North East academic model like Delaware. News flash, Sam aint Delaware. his liberal elitism has rubbed a ton of people at Sam wrong, former player and HS coaches around the state. He was one of the cheerleaders to not play. There is a reason they ran him off is alma mater after wining a national title with 6 years left on his contract. Ironically he sure took transfer Joe Flacco from Pitt when he was at Delaware.. Hypocrite. Back tot he laughable Southland. You have HS football, Big 12, SEC, CUSA, Sun Belt, AAC and the NFL all playing football in Texas. Houston baptist, SFA and ACU all from the Southland will play some games. So ALL 1A and 1-AA schools and a few d-2 schools are playing in Texas, EXCEPT Lamar ( yea, the had a covid outbreak, but had plenty of time to get thru the quarantine and get some games there players were asymptomatic and it was Aug 11th when it was reported they had the outbreak, being picked last in the conference can make a coach think, maybe its not safe to play and relate that to his AD and school President, unsafe for his JOB) Incarnate Word ( still dont know if they are real serious about playing bigger time football) and Sam Houston who has ZERO reason not to be playing, ZERO. Southland and Sam Houston, cowards sorry, rant over
