  1. I agree! Just means I have to listen on the radio. I was sure looking forward to the game
  2. Don’t know anything about waskom except they’ve been very good in recent years. Thoughts?
  3. I didn’t see that coming. Completely different team came out of that locker room. Great job. That one was fun to watch.
  4. Does anyone know if new waverly streams their games?
  5. Newton top three team 5-1, 2-0 Newton is Newton. A very tough out. Hemphill 6-0, 2-0. Unranked, none of their opponents have a winning record, but to their credit, they have dominated every game. thoughts on the game, besides the obvious that Newton is a heavy favorite.
  6. Gotta admit I was a little nervous going into this. Hornets we’re 3-0, but those wins were all playing down. Kirbyville is not a state powerhouse, but they’re a quality team. Good size. Good speed and looked like they might dominate. But the hornet defense was outstanding and they have so many offensive weapons that they were able to double up on the Wildcats. Next week starts distract and I’m optimistic we’ll be still playing when the regular season ends. Yes Newton is king of the district, but the Hornets are looking solid and I enjoyed watching them tonight.
  7. They gave up 61 to hemphill. Mostly on the ground so I’d have to say their run defense has room to improve.
  8. I doubt it had anything to do with being scared. San Augustine and west Sabine are decades old rivalries that everybody want to see continue. Kirbyville is not a bad matchup and shelbyville was supposed to be a lot stronger. I’m not defending it but I’m quite sure it wasn’t fear. Yes Newton sometime takes a couple nondistrict losses, but they’re always playing up against strong teams.
  9. Newton does that. They’ll play most anybody. Haven’t looked at this years schedule, but for a couple years they were playing WO-S. Newton in a down year is still among the elite in their class.
  10. Yeah but sometime in the history of football they had to have lost a district game. I just don’t remember it!
  11. Until somebody in district beats them, Newton is king of the hill. Anybody know the last time Newton lost a district game?
  12. SAPACK I only got to see highlights, but that’s not the SA team I’m used to seeing.
  13. I know shelbyville is a solid team. Hemphill is probably the strongest they’ve been in a long time. How does this one play out?
  14. Texan220, don't know who you are, but I grew up in Hemphill, live here now and plan to die here. I have supported them through thick and thin, and will continue to. Justin Twine is a fine young man from a good family. I wish them nothing but success and happiness in whatever they pursue. I will continue to support the Hornets whether they're 10-0 or 0-10. I think a lot of our problems now can be traced to the school board. There have been some changes, and maybe things will get better. Either way, I support the boys who put on the green. Your continued reference to a former player adds nothing to the conversation. And last time I checked, their record last year was 1-9, so yes, Anderson-Shiro did count. It wasn't a scrimmage.
  15. I've been working out of town for the last year and haven't met the new coach, and don't know who's on his staff. I do know he comes from a program rich in tradition and knows how to win. We need to give him 100% support and help him build a prgram from the ground up. Don't know what kind of talent he has coming up, but given time and support I do believe he will return the Hornets to being a force to be reckoned with. But, we do have to be patient. The program did not get in disarray overnight, and it won't be fixed overnight, either.
  16. Looks good. Proud for the folks at SA. From somebody who's spent a lot of time in press boxes, not gonna be great visibility if the cutouts are the only place there'll be glass. Maybe somebody will figure that out before it's too late.
  17. So much for all the Elks in two predictions :)
  18. I was at the Stephenville/Kilgore game. Great ball game. Kilgore spotted them two td's but fought back to make it a game. Two crucial turnovers and a 70 yd td that got called back kept this from being a barn burner. Don't look for a four touchdown game in the finals, but Stephenville will be hard to beat. Better bring your a game and then some.
