There has been no development by the staff at QB, WR or DB. They run good athletes out at DB and think running multiple schemes will win. The same thing will happen as last year now that they are playing teams who can throw… on offense they have rode Miller and Bryson, and have no developed anyone else to make plays. It’s the same team as last season, except worse. Staff needs to truly develop guys but it hasn’t happened at TL since the Owens years

Covid has been a major issue in ETX and Legacy both last season and now. As with multiple programs in ETX over the last year, the question comes down to, will it be addressed or not. Some programs address the positive cases wit players and coaches. Some other programs in ETX have not addressed the cases at all

Long before some of the starters came out, JT was still moving the ball at will on Lee. Before the starters came out Holt already had 350 passing yards on the starting secondary. If you take away the terrible turnovers the game is a close game even at halftime. The Lee secondary is going to give up a lot of yards and struggle vs teams who can pass. To win games going forward they have to fix that some, and be better vs the run. You will not get 6 turnovers like they had JT going forward. Sears will be out the first half of this Longview game so that hurts their secondary even more. Bryson is alright. It was an ankle. Longview will have to score and be able to throw to win this game. If all Longview tries doing is running it will be running vs running and Lee will have the advantage being able to utilize two RB’s and kill the clock

1. It’s not that serious to get worked up about kids playing high school football 2. There are multiple players who would be John Tyler living area. 3. This is not new. Going back to late 90’s and 2000’s, a wide bulk of the TL players were guys who lived in JT district. The difference back then, it was evened out by the vast amount of talent feeding into both schools. But, even in the late 90’s and early 2000’s a vast amount of players at TL were JT area players who came to TL. This is t an excuse, it’s facts. Now with that said, the TL program was in bad due to coaching. Piske and Traylor were not great coaches. Period. Willis has brought a mindset back to TL that had not been there since Owens. Also is using players in many ways to display what they are good at and meshing the pieces together. Will they beat LV, Allen, Rockwall, Heath, and a few others, most likely not. But they will get the most out of the players they have. That has been the issue at JT the last few years. The monster players you can line up and win with no matter what are not there. It comes down to developing players, putting players in positions to have success, X/O’s and coaching. The staff at JT even though nice guys, are not a great staff. Simple as that. If people step back and quit talking as fans, and watch the games over the last few years, it’s clear. It’s also clear by the college programs thoughts on each program & offers. This doesn’t mean JT can’t figure it out, but it’s going to take changes now. That’s simply sports

Agrees and yea…Thing is, both the OC’s were lucky to have so much talent that there wasn’t much actual X & O’s needed. Both are good guys, neither should be 6A coordinators. There has been no development at JT. Only chance they have is if Holt plays QB, and then they still aren’t within, 21 points. TISD wanted this though when they redid the lines.

This won’t be close. Bryson and Miller will go for 350 combined. That is basically Legacy’s entire offense. They will ride the RB’s until they play the rest of the schedule where now they have to play from behind, and then it will backfire. But Tyler High is not a player issue, it’s a coaching issue. Has been for a while. Holt should be QB full time and 0 should be RB. No reason to have one off the field while the other is QB. JT has not had a good offensive coach since Blaylock was pushed out. Rick has surrounded himself with guys who shouldn’t be 6A coordinators. Doesn’t mean they aren’t nice guys, but JT did this to themselves. Feel bad for the kids though. If Holt gets bulk of snaps at QB, they can throw on Lee’s D.

We didn’t do much vs marshall. On defense numerous deep balls were wide open and WR’s were wide open, marshall just didn’t connect on them. The offense is the same. 2 top notch RB’s, the occasional deep ball, and then screen or quick passes. As the year goes on I fully expect Sears to play QB as otherwise there isn’t a QB in the school. They need this win vs Lufkin because after that it could be 4-5 weeks before another win comes.

Lee has a P5 CB who has 22 D1 offers and hasn’t given up but 2 short catches all year and a safety who has 2 INTs and a rover who plays very well. The secondary is a very good secondary. The only big plays have been on coverage breakdowns. But they had no scrimmages either so it’s still growing together. But they’ve played really well. Have P5 and D1 guys on the DL, and secondary, and also the entire LB core has offers to play at the next level. The D has played well.
