Your memory is correct on SH.  I’d like to see our Board adjust that policy slightly in the future.  We are too large to have a shot to drop to 3A D1, but have plenty of room to grow and not bump to 4A D1.  Controlled growth.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a “locked district”? Does every school in Texas have an option as to whether to choose to be “locked” or not?

I would love to of seen how good number 64 could have been at tackle. He was the projected starter at 6’ft 4” and 308 pounds before the car wreck.
He comes in with the number two kids now.
I don’t know if he is a junior or a senior.
And don’t forget about the starting guard that went out against Kilgore.

    #64 is a senior.

This year - The 6”4 guys are 260 and under and the 300 and over guys are 6’0” or less…….go figure….lol

Two of the 260-pounders are juniors, one of whom has already committed to Baylor. The other, who several DI schools have expressed interest in, is the only Bulldog playing both ways this year.

I’m aware of that but in the playoffs against another great team if you get behind two or three scores from turnovers it’s hard to come back even if it’s Carthage. Turnovers in the playoffs don’t go well together.

I don’t disagree, and I’m certainly not proposing that CHS doesn’t need to be concerned about turning the ball over.  Just sayin’…

I hope so….Surratt had the starting defense get back up when the VA Coach started calling time outs against the 2s and 3s..I think he got the hint and stopped doing it

Perhaps we’ll have a chance to see on Friday if the Van Alstyne coach learned that night the proper coaching etiquette in such situations.

May not “run up the score” per se, but at least two chapters of the play book may be available to the 2’s and 3’s on offense vs 2 running plays like normal.

The number of different plays that are actually used from the playbook that is available to the 2’s & 3’s is likely affected by whether the opponent continues to leave its 1st team in after CHS pulls its 1st team.

What are the chances this game gets moved to Friday or Saturday?

I would guess slim to none. Stadium availability is a big issue for the 1st round games, and Pine Tree’s stadium is already booked for a 3A game tomorrow night. Also, Coach Surratt doesn’t like playing on Saturdays.

Under Coach Surratt, CHS has played in many playoff games in which the weather was worse than tonight’s is predicted to be.

I'm concerned about the psychological aspect of whether or not Spring Hill can come back after after having 70 points scored on them last week, and close to 60 the week before that! Van is a tough team and will dominate this game early if our defense doesn't get better! I hope we can win this game and move on, but we'll see!

There’s hope. Center gave up a combined 128 points during a two-game stretch last month and came back to beat Bullard the next week. (As you may recall, Bullard is the same team that last week upset Van.)

  11. Carthage is a prohibitive favorite in this one. After all, among the teams the Leopards lost to this year were Henderson, which proceeded to lose their next 8 games, and Spring Hill (sorry, PantherNation2015).

However, L-E apparently was plagued by injuries most of the season. And they seem to have played their best football of the season in their past 3 games - 2 wins and a loss to undefeated Pleasant Grove in which they were driving for a tying touchdown with only 5 minutes left in the game.

L-E always seems to have some good athletes. I’m sure that is true again this year, even though they have apparently lost some who transferred to Pleasant Grove.

CHS needs to play at a high level. It’s now single elimination and turnovers and penalties must be minimized in order to prevent an unwanted result.

As I’m confident Coach Surratt and staff will have the Bulldogs ready to play, I pick them to advance with a 35-point win this Thursday.
