I'm thinkin 8 played each other each year since and twice in 2020
My research this morning reveals that you are correct.
Does anyone remember the score of the 2021 game in Carthage? I attended but don’t remember the score.

Will the Lions forfeit the Carthage game?

How many times have these 2 teams met since then?

Bellville is on a collision course with Carthage and they will provide a stiffer challenge than what Wimberly offered last year.
That’s a safe statement.

I'm thinking 13 was first year can't remember honestly when they presplit but our last year in it was when we won state in 19
Carthage also played in the Division I playoffs in 2007 (Coach Surratt’s 1st year) and 2012. Lost to eventual (and defending) state champion Liberty Hill in the former and in the state semifinals to El Campo in the latter.

#1 ranked DT in the state if I’m not mistaken, they also use him at DE and move him around a good bit. I believe he also run a 4.7-4.8 40, that’s great but I’d be more interested in the 10 yard split.
Has an offer from Alabama, among others

Hard to tackle - first half into a little of the 2nd.
Easier to tackle - after he got tired from playing offense, defense a lot, and I think some special teams.I noticed he was on the kickoff team at least once, which probably means he was on it for all 6 kickoffs by PG.

Carthage averages 6 TDs (43 points) a game.
Gilmer averages giving up 5 TDs (35 points) a game.
That seems to indicate that Carthage will score at least its average Friday.

Colbert was a dude on both sides of the ball!
He did an amazing job in the 2016 playoffs at WR after playing almost exclusively on defense in the regular season.

Just my view - 2 games in The Star were wild/crazy games that in my view, Carthage didn’t play their best.
But against Waco LV, in my view, LV had just as athletic linemen but bigger and as good or better skill guys…..But Carthage played a great game(along with coaching) and won.Maybe 3 wild & crazy?
2016 state semifinal: CHS 26, China Spring 20 - 2 OTs; China Spring missed a FG on the last play of the 1st OT (or regulation) that would have won it for them
2018 regional semifinal: CHS 50, Midlothian Heritage 49 - OT; CHS had to score on the last play of regulation to send it to OT; game ended on a successful CHS 2-point conversion
2022 state semifinal: CHS 42, Glen Rose 35; Turnovers (and a great option QB) nearly did the Bulldogs in, but in the end a Glen Rose fumble opened the door to victory for the Bulldogs

But pretty successful.
Yes, as in “undefeated” at The Star

My guess is The Star in Frisco or Denton. Hopefully all 4 coaches agree on The Star and get it locked down about Monday.
If Carthage is 1 of the 2 teams playing at The Star, look for an agonizingly close game. That seems to be the only type of game CHS plays there.

The winner of this game will meet the winner of the Glen Rose-Canyon West Plains game. Canyon is more than 500 miles from either Carthage or Gilmer.
Where would that semifinal game be played if Canyon West Plains wins Region 1? Wichita Falls?

their depth at RB is insane
In the bi-district win over Liberty-Eylau, 8 RBs had carries for Carthage. I believe only 1 of them is a senior.

They (PG) are so used to getting home cooking from the officials they get their feelings hurt when they don’t get every call going their way.
if their coaching staff had not tried to make the entire game about the QB, they might have come out better. They did not utilize any of their running backs, it was just the QB Right, QB Left and QB up the middle.
Their RB has DI offers, just as the QB does. He ran exceptionally hard the few times he got to carry the ball. I join you in wondering why he didn’t get more carries…and why the big junior TE, who already has many DI offers, wasn’t thrown to more.

You said "not near as talented." I respectfully disagree. As a matter of fact, the defense may be as talented as any they've had, but they are young. When they weren't put in bad field position, they held pg in check.
There are 8 underclassmen starting on that unit - 4 juniors & 4 sophomores.

yeah I've seen a lot of their fans saying they will take Carthage down this year but just wasn't sure how they are this year vs last year. That QB graduated didn't he?
Yes

Gilmer lost to Pleasant Grove by 5 TDs. So the question is: how much have the Buckeyes improved since that beatdown?

How is Glen Rose looking this season? I have seen their scores but not actually watched them.
They lost 4 of their first 5 games…but they’re still alive.

Off the top of my head, PG #1, 2, 5, 6, 9, 18, & 75 all have either committed or hold at least one D1 offer.
Did I not see 4 of those kids in the secondary at the same time quite a bit today?

#1 Carthage vs. #3 Pleasant Grove(2 p.m, Friday @ Longview Pine Tree)

If indeed Carthage moves to Region 3 the next 2 years, perhaps these two teams will resume playing non-district games against each other. After last week’s game, it would be mighty interesting.
