Totally disagree. Redwater looked like a team that had won 3 games before and been told how terrible they were. The 2nd half proved that when they play like they can they are really good. The offense dominated the second half and defense played lights out. Turnover bug is 3 turnovers in a game in key moments. 7 forced turnovers in a half is the defense flying around and making plays. I was at the game. The better team for sure won. The QB is good but the are really good at RB and WR as well. The catches by #4 prove he is something you have to target. Not just the QB. QB gets loose by play design. QB will still get loose on NB. Seen them play as well and too inconsistent. Calling Redwater by 14. Redwater’s defense is legit.

I have said this as well. Detroit, with the right setup, culture, and leaders in place can win. I was told by others that it could not happen in there.

There are a lot of people who do not know how to coach athletes... Athletes are different. Some can understand the game on a different level than others. Some you have to simplify the game to its basic level to get that athlete to play at his best. Great coaches can do that. So to say he can coach athletes, that means to me, that he knows how to reach different levels of athletes for their understanding of the game. Anybody can be a sponsor to a great athlete. Even you. Getting athletes to play together is another aspect of "he can coach athletes." Look at how many schools have athletes and do not compete because of selfish play. Getting those players to play together is extremely difficult. Some coaches have the best knowledge of the game but do not know how to relate it to their players. Some have a little less knowledge but can get anyone to understand the game and play fast. Football is a game of keep it simple and play fast. If you can do those things as a coach, then you are going to be successful. Coaching athletes is a lot more difficult than most think. Teaching IQ of the sport is the most important thing a coach can do. I think this is what is meant by "he can coach athletes."

Yes. All I was saying is about the classroom. This is also why they need to hire sooner so if a new AD/HFC comes in these coaches do not sign a contract unless they want and the AD can bring in who they want. That or the Supt needs to say you can only bring 1-2 coaches. This hurts a lot of people.

Old guys should have to leave because of contract. Coaches are on a Dual Contract. They cannot do one and not the other. Once reassigned they will not get contract to teach for next year. Bigger districts get away with it because they need teachers but most small districts once coach reassigned from coaching they have to leave teaching position as well.

That very well could be true. Normally that is because of the changes the AD made. I know for a fact the Boys Basketball got reassigned. Baseball with the success he has had, I would assume he is probably just leaving. Either way, there is big change happening in LK.

Well from what it looks like, the new AD is making some big changes. New Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Baseball, and Track Coaches. Could be a good thing if he came in and did not see what he liked or he is bringing in his own guys and needed those positions. Very surprised supt let him make that many changes. Normally only the big schools gets to make changes that extreme.

But they might. That is something that nobody knows. If one program can get on track and win consistently, and with the right leader, talent will come. As I said though, culture wins more games than talent. If there is no culture/negative culture, then the program will not succeed. I do agree with you though that to prepare for any district you must have a tough non-district. Kids have to learn to compete with that to win.

I personally think Dorsey would be a great hire. Great man of Character, knows the kids, they have a high respect for him, and great coach. Would be my first choice if I was apart of the board but I do not have a say. School Boards and Supts have a mind of their own.

Yes, I believe he is. I know he was the basketball coach this past season.

I have driven through Detroit a few times on my way to Paris. If you blink you miss it. I heard they made a hire just have not heard a name. I am a believer that anywhere can be competitive in sports with the right coaching. Seen it many times. If the coach will come in and set set the culture and standards then they can be successful. Culture wins more games than talent. Then winning brings talent.

Anyone heard anything about this one?

I am very interested to see how Redwater will be under Coach Layne. I am hearing a lot of buzz around the program since he has taken over. Hopefully can be the guy to right the ship. At least be competitive and make playoffs!!

Trey Hart, who was at Redwater a few seasons ago, would be a great candidate. His two years there they went 29-32 finishing 3rd and 4th in the district. That program only won 1 district game in 3 seasons before he took over and won 14 in two seasons. Not sure if he is interested at all but would be a great hire.

It would be very tough to hire a coordinator who only scored 86 points in 10 games. Could be a great guy and would be a great hire I am not sure. I definitely think they need to go outside and find someone to come in. Young Coordinator or Assistant at a big school. Somebody willing to stick around for the kids and make the changes to get this program on the right track. JMO
