a lot of games left to be played but they have started out pretty impressive. Ithe new staff has done a good job gettin the most out of the players when it really matters imo. Texas High went 10-0 in the regular season in 16’ the year before Stanford got there. That team had some players with one of the receivers on that team signing with Chiefs. The talent wasn’t a problem imo. A lot can happen between now and the first week of the playoffs but hopefully they keep getting better each week.

Slow start for PG on offense this year which is surprising with what returned from last season. The defense has played great in both games….pg 35-14.

A lot of games left to be played but Texas High offense has looked good early… qb Potter with a little over 600 yards passing and 7 TDs through 2 games. Johnson finished with 160 yards on the ground and right around 90 yards for Ball vs Colleyville. The defense has stepped up and made some plays in both games but also struggled , nothing consistent. might be a stretch but I think the district could win all 7 games on Friday. Kilgore won’t be easy, but I’ll take PT at home after a big win over Lindale.

The QB was a problem for Texas High most of the game….the younger players did show up when it mattered in the end . #9 Markus Hall the sophomore playing safety with the big tackle to force the field goal and Ball the sophomore running back with the big TD catch to go ahead with less than 2 minutes to go.

Stepp called it. Texas High got all they wanted . The first quarter was hard to watch going down 14-0. Getting inside the 5 in the first half and coming away with no points almost hurt them, the offense looked out of rhythm most of the game but made some plays when it mattered. Good luck Colleyville the rest of the year.

defense will have to play better but LS had 4 possessions start inside the 40. 2 being bad snaps to the punter and a fumble on kickoff return. Texas High got a little greedy and the RB ran in to the official and fumbled again right before half . 34-17 turned in to 41-31 all within 4 minutes to go, maybe less.

Texas High probably had around 7 sophomores and a freshman start vs Lone Star they looked young at times, they’ll have to be ready to play if they wanna win…Colleyville has some talent for sure. Merriman at DT finished around a dozen tackles for loss and few sacks last year if he’s back this week you’d think that helps the run defense out. Whitehouse, Longview, Lufkin, Texas High, Mount Pleasant, Lindale, Hallsville imo

Good start for JT. I hope they can win some district games. It would be nice to see 3 out of the 4 teams that make the playoffs all from etx.

agreed, the pick 6 to start the game set the tone early…imo the fumble on the kickoff return and the 2 bad snaps to the punter allowed them to close the gap a couple different times when it looked like Texas High was about to pull away… credit to Lone Star they didn’t shy away, the RB for them was hard to tackle out in space. I think the defense finished with 3 interceptions and a sack that caused a fumble. 2 sophomores and a junior that were starting for the first time in the secondary, it showed at times. I thought overall not a bad game for week 1.

Texas High played good early, at one point it was 34–14 with Texas High getting the ball back. It looked like the first game for sure. run game struggled but with a freshman and 2 sophomores on the oline that’s part of it ….the defense was without DT Merriman that started last year, hopefully he comes back soon. Tigers had some special teams problems that need to be worked on, 2 bad snaps on punts allowed Lone Star to have great field position….they were about to go into the half up 17 and then the fumble allowed another drive to start inside the 30 and Lone Star made something out of it. 1-0 is always a plus . Gotta keep getting better each week.

we’ll see what happens this year @Hogman2018 I think Texas High has a chance to win some games, but really all 4 teams in town could have a good year. I’ll be at Texas High Thursday but probably make my way over to watch Arkansas vs Watson Chapel Friday.

Texas High at around 1760 kids vs larger enrollment in just the last 3 seasons. In district Nacogdoches around 1820 kids (3-0) They beat Lake Creek , Fulshear, Texas City,in the playoffs and Tyler Legacy, Colleyville Heritage, Tyler High(2-0), Forney (2-0) in pre-district. lost to Crosby 62-42 , 14-7 and Lone Star 38-33. no the playoff record hasn’t been great 5-5 past 4/5 years but also some of the first round games have been vs pretty good teams . lol hope they can make another playoff run soon .

I don’t think you can really say they’ve underachieved with the new staff @Hogman2018 . 17’ they got beat in the first round to Highland Park by a TD. HP then won state same year. 18’ (5a D1) maybe they did, missed the playoffs for the first time in a while but had 3 close district games could have went either way. 19’ (5a D1) they beat undefeated Lufkin in the first round, had a lead at half over Frisco the 2nd rd but the QB Braxton who starts at Tulsa now took over the 2nd half, Texas lost 45-32 . 20’ Texas High got beat by Crosby in the 2nd round imo that game should have been played later in the playoffs. Crosby lost their last district game and dropped to second so it was the 2nd round. Crosby went to state that year but got beat up by Aledo. 21’ Texas High went 4 rounds deep, played Crosby again, got beat 14-7. imo would have been different if they had everyone, grades got some players. Last year in 22’ go back and look who started the year vs who played against Terrell. It happens to everyone but QB,RB,LB all out, Crite at DE got district defensive mvp last year didn’t play, Hall at WR didn’t play. Credit to Terrell they won in OT and then played into the 3rd round. QB didn’t look bad when they scrimmaged Longview Thursday, got 2 good RB’s and some good receivers. Defense looked pretty good. Lone Star has a RB in the 26’ class with some attention and got a couple good LB’s on defense , should be a good game to watch.

Is the Marshall vs Tyler Legacy scrimmage being streamed ?

I didn’t think 7th grade had a team at Arkansas before the new coach got there? I don’t think any of the sub varsity even played any games at Arkansas for a couple years so I would probably would have had my kid leave as well.

when @THSfanatic mentioned the line could be one of the better to come through I think he was spot on. Maybe not this year but within the next couple years for sure. Freshman and 2 sophomores on the O-line got beat up some in the run game but looked good pass blocking.

lol . I know Ford the freshman that started on the O line last night with the Varsity at left tackle played at the Texas middle school 7th and 8th grade.

the one in 9th grade is Qua Ford. Idk how big but he looks every bit of 6’4. His brother should be a standout on the basketball team this year.

Overall a good scrimmage imo for Texas High lining up vs Longview. LV week 1 and LV week 10 are completely different teams. I hope both make a run during the playoffs

9th grade looked good for the 2nd week in a row. A couple of players on the line stand out when it comes to the their size.

Gray and Hall at WR for Texas High looked pretty good. Hall didn’t play vs Terrell last year in the playoffs . Hopefully they can come out week to week and help the younger players throughout the year.

I don’t think you can be upset with how Texas High came out. Good scrimmage for T High. Ones went down and scored on the first series of it being live with the help of a PI . Defense had a pick and returned it back inside inside the 10 but it was blown dead and they went back to around the 50. Tatum didn’t look to be involved a whole lot but still some positivity with the young guys Texas has on both offensive line and defensive line. I think it finished 14-7 overall LV controlled and live portion
