He is good as they come imo. I wish Texas High could get him to stay in town on Friday nights. When PG went on that run of 7 straight years to the state baseball tournament he was great.

Longview and Texas High meet up this afternoon . Always a good test for not only the varsity but also the JV and freshman teams. Freshman team looked pretty good vs Marshall last week . Good size and the QB Thomas made some impressive throws. Potter will be around this season and the next but if sophomore Wrightner ends up playing on the defensive side of the ball it could work out with the freshman QB being the athlete he looked to be .

did something happen to Boardley ?

I didn’t realize something happened to Boardley. I was thought maybe they were letting the young RB get snaps during the scrimmage. MP did look small and depth also looked like it could cause a problem but then again that has seemed to be a problem for a while in Mount Pleasant.

MP had some good moments imo. QB didn’t look like he had his best stuff but it looked like some of those ints were WR running the wrong routes, tip balls etc. He was able to show off his arm on a few plays. . PG is also gonna very good this year. the hawks found another RB and were able to keep McFadden / Boardley on defense. That’ll go a long ways for them when the playoffs roll around.

2026 class is talented at Texas High. I wouldn’t be surprised to see 7/8 sophomores getting a lot of playing time this year. The RB that started as a freshman has been mentioned as one of the top RB in that class along with Raycline Guillary from Aledo and Javian Osborne from Forney. 27’ class definitely have some guys that look the part, one of the players on the line being 6’4 already as an incoming freshman.

Anxious to see what Mount Pleasant looks like tomorrow when they scrimmage Pleasant Grove. Starting QB was pretty good last year, with him back I would think the offense takes another step forward. PG has a lot of talent this year, it’ll be a good test early on .

Marshall . I do wanna see how JT comes out and plays with new staff. It seems like he has said all the right things, talent will be there at the skill positions but they still might be a few years away from being the team they once were.

It will be a small dose but I look forward to seeing Tatum at RB when Longview scrimmages Texas High and the QB from Carthage when they scrimmage LE. within district 8-5A . 3 year starter Slone at QB from Marshall, McMinn the QB from Mount Pleasant and DE Dealyn Evans from Pine Tree come to mind. Josh Green the QB from Whitehouse is another player to watch.

best Texas High teams in order in my opinion to fall short after winning it all in 2002 I think most people thought they had another really good team in 2003. Texas High went 13-1 Ryan Malletts first start in the semifinals due to qb missing the game 2006 was a very good team imo 12-1 . Beat HP 40-21 the week before and then ran into RG3 and Copperas Cove and got beat 30-27 . Ryan threw for over 3,200 yards that season. 2004 Texas High went 12-1 but Graham Harrell and Ennis had other plans. 2021 went 13-1 with a Arkansas High forfeit early in the year. Got beat 14-7 by Crosby . I don’t know about winning it all but it would have been nice to at least see them play that game with all the starters playing. 2007 9-3 another good team not sure if they would have went on to win it because of injuries but they did beat Sulphur Springs 55-21 earlier that year and they went on to win a state championship .

Lol I do think PT defense will be pretty good but I don’t know what the offense will look like. I mentioned earlier this year I thought they might make a push for a playoff spot but I also thought the same thing about Nac last year. I hope Texas High comes out a little upset with how the season ended last year. 4 players in the 26’ class picked up some offers this spring and imo the best player in that group might be Montgomery at WR and he’s yet to get a look . Lone Star week 1 should be a good test.

how many does Gilmer bring back? PG playing in Gilmer won’t be easy but they have 18/19 guys returning from last year and a lot of those are 3 year starters . It’ll be a game to watch imo. I wanna see what LE does at QB this year, they bring back all 5 on the offensive line and have some guys if they can get them the ball in space. Hadaway, London and Jones all have a D1 offer to play LB but all 3 had to run back out and play on offense most of the time last year.

His son Javari Johnson started to get some looks as a sophomore last year playing RB . Louisiana Tech , Houston and UTSA offered this spring. I’m anxious to see how they rotate him and Ball with both playing RB. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ball plays out wide at Wr or even on defense in certain situations.

Prevo is still at LE….I wanna say the wr that moved to A High was Telly Wells. Hate it for LE but like Txk mentioned they did pickup a corner who has a few offers, Auburn and Arkansas being 2 of the bigger schools .

lol Pittsburg , Van Alstyne , Gilmer , PG, Glen Rose , Wimberley. Crosby, Lone Star , Port Arthur , Mansfield Timberview , Aledo . Surely you see the difference…LV lost to the state champion 17-14 in the last minute of the game. outside of Carthage (probably could beat Crosby and Lone Star , not so sure about the rest) none of the teams the dawgs played in the playoffs last year would have made it out of the first round in 5a. @HearEmaGrowlin

Good year all around. Arkansas High imo has the best player in town. If he doesn’t get his name called in the draft I hope to see him have a good career at Arkansas .

Tom it was more than just the QB. Defensive player of the year in district (Crite) and newcomer of year (Dowden) on defense were both out…Hall at WR who had 700 yards receiving didn’t play vs Terrell either . senior QB and RB got hurt early but things just didn’t seem to work after the QB went down.
