  1. This issue needs to be put on the state ballot as a proposition. Hold public hearings and actually see the language. I think there is a bit of "the sky is falling" in this thread, understandable due to how the state functions. I don't see the impact on smaller communities due to lack of private options. School districts are losing kids now, realignment numbers support this. Thus they must adjust budgets. Urban districts are growing and are most likely affected by school choice. I don't see a mass migration to private schools due to limited extracurricular opportunities or enrollment guidelines. Now if the state takes the position that if you take state funds - you have to follow state guidelines. Overall it's a kick back to the wealthier parents which are most likely being politically courted.
  2. Carthel was Ivey's guy so I wouldn't be surprised on a near future change there. Basketball programs need a kick in the butt, seeing some decline there. W VB and Bowling are now the marquee programs. Track is respectable. Everything else nobody seems to care.
  3. Win a civil suit against the kid(s) and school. That might support a criminal charge. Doesn't appear anyone on either side wants to do much.
  4. KLTV reports Ivey to Louisiana Tech....... Not surprised with the wheels starting to come off in the programs. I'm sure the UT transition had something to do with it too.
  5. If true, I applaud Angel on "breaking the cycle".
  6. They'll go with what causes the least disruption, history of doing it. Football probably won't factor much.
  7. Might this be what you reference? Hello 3 & 7
  8. Definitely would like to know the interview list at a minimum
  9. Called school board meeting for the 15th................
  10. I think UT-SFA wants better than a 60% win percentage.
  11. I don't know Surratt or Ivey other than where their names are associated with. Sounds like another J Pearce experiment, short lived. Probably more established and proven college level candidates available when the time comes.
  12. Marshall's hands are all over the baseball improvements. No reason to touch Dillard , several others will be untouchable.
  13. Recycling , typical move by Palestine. Marshall will have him a yes man. I guess Angel doesn't want another R Clark experiment.
  14. I'm sure Saban will have significant input on "who". He knows who has the right stuff.
  15. It will take someone with a unique ability to "walk a thin line" between player participation and discipline to have football success. Past history demonstrates this. That ability should be the focus of those responsible for hiring. Palestine also has a history of retaining staff, the new person may find that to be an issue unless hired from within. This could become a revolving door job. Curious to know the hiring timeline.
  16. Football staff has become a "farm system" for those trying to climb the college job ladder.
  17. In this scenario Thorndale in 14 looks to be traveling some distance in a few games. Last couple of cycles have put some schools in bad travel situations (3A and down).
  18. UIL site has an extensive breakdown, look under championship schedule
  19. " I'm afraid the strain was more than he could bear" - Doc Holiday, Tombstone
  20. "Pride goeth before a fall" You post hard for your team all year and rightly so........but maybe show some humility in this moment
  21. Well earned and M staff is deserving of the championship
