  1. Wearing the opposing team's colors isn't new. The Raiders under Madden were notorious for wearing all white gloves and forearm sleeves/pads when at home because the visiting teams had to wear white. Just a way of gaming the system.
  2. per the texas high school football history website He was the head coach at Allen from 82-94. had 3 ten win seasons, but never won a title as a head coach. So based on that all his titles came as either an assistant or AD roles.
  3. Man everyone respects Franklin's dynasty. But Koff is #1 this year. Let it go.
  4. Gunter and that monster of a little QB are rolling. Tidehaven has to find someway to make him uncomfortable. Otherwise Gunter is going to steamroll to another ring.
  5. I expect this game to be another classic. Similar to Windthorst vs Mart a couple years ago. Will come down to which team makes the last big play or last big mistake to decide a champion.
  6. So either you were a coward and scared people might be mean to you for reporting something you clearly find an egregious offense, but not bad enough to do so immediately. Or you're doing a terrible job at trolling and trying to bash a coaching staff that has their program rolling in the right direction.
  7. The refusal to answer why you didn't report claimed violations during the summer and waited until December only further removes any credibility.
  8. All coaches go and help with 7 on 7. Also, would be very difficult to prove they were actually "coaching" and not just saying good job guys to the kids or monitoring behavior. Unless there is evidence of them on the field in the huddle calling the plays this is a waste of time.
  9. Bosqueville has been, and will probably continue to be, a baseball school that competes decently well across all other sports. Coach Zander got the football program to its max potential most years.
  10. I'm genuinely curious how much money people think that schools make off of playoff games. In almost every situation schools lose or barely break even up until the regional finals and semis. And even with those games you have to draw a huge crowd to offset the cost of paying for the stadium and operations. State games make more, but it is still not as large a number as people are imagining. The larger 5A and 6A schools that can bring in thousands of fans obviously make money. But then you're talking about maybe 20-30ish schools who have large dedicated fanbases that travel well enough.
  11. Frost has one of the most interesting and dangerous set ups in the state. During baseball the concession stand and anyone in line is in real danger of catching a line drive foul ball to the head. Sad part is it would only be foul by about 3-4 feet as well.
  12. I'm not one for coach bashing, but this guy clearly is not cut out to lead a program. Before the season starts you set your expectations for the parents and the kids. What will and what will not be tolerated. If you cannot handle the chirping from the stands either, then you're just asking for problems. The parents are not faultless in this situation either, but a veteran HC knows to set boundaries to avoid situations like this.
  13. Asking a question about blatant cheating and being shocked people have a strong reaction to it? It is near impossible to fudge any numbers being reported, see Alto. Then the repercussions for getting caught are not worth it, again see Alto. If you think it happens, prove it. Otherwise asking the question shows obvious ignorance to how the process works and/or jealousy of a great program.
  14. Let's be real. Beating Carthage any given year has nothing to do with rankings, strength of schedule, or data points. Its if you can survive into the 4th quarter and give yourself a chance. Glen Rose did everything they could last year and fell just shy. The one thing you can guarantee is playoff time Carthage will not beat themselves and will make you play as flawlessly as you can to even have a chance.
  15. Kids do not play because they have far more options. You can see that a negative if you want, but even back in the day there were plenty of kids that played who never sniffed a practice rep or the field and would have been better off playing soccer or in robotics club. Football is in its golden era right now. At every level of the game you can see multiple variations of how the game can be played if you know what you are looking for. This does not mean the game is softer than back in the day by any means though. There are just more coaches with the awareness that running lead 30+ times a game with kids who are not lead blockers is not a viable way of winning a game. Within the next 25 years we will see the death of small school football 2AD1 and below as we know it. Programs that field 20 or so players in total will be forced to decide between traditionally playing 11 man ball and dropping to 6 man. I can see a scenario where the 6 man Divisions grow by and the 2A Division cutoff numbers grow considerably. We've already seen the beginning of it with Burkeville accepting its move to 6 man after years of struggling to field a competitive squad.
  16. JH kids can be allowed to play up on JV or varsity if they turn 15 on or before Sep 1 of that school year. However, they then also begin their 4 years of high school eligibility. Meaning, if they play on jv or varsity as an 8th grader their senior year they would become ineligible as they would have played for 4 years at the high school level.
  17. Very close to the story I was told as well. Anyone that works in education knows that it is next to impossible to "accidentally" turn in the wrong the number. It gets checked and rechecked multiple times. Also to add, last year Alto was senior heavy and they were still willing to grind out a season with no pay off at the end. These younger kids missed out on what would have been a playoff run and extra practices. Now they are being thrown through another season with no playoffs and are in a very competitive district.
  18. Beckville by 40+. Bearcats are rolling.
  19. What is going on is the 2nd year of no chance at the playoffs. There is nothing to play for besides "pride" and that only lasts for so long. This is a prime example of why admin in any profession need to pay attention to the details and not "miscount".
  20. PP HS - would be a good game with PP WO - would lose to PP and HS but keep it respectable imo LK - losing by 2-3 scores at least to all 3
  21. If Joaquin keeps their offense more open and move #7 around like they did against Tenaha their slot T is dangerous. Defense is leaving a lot to ask for so far though. Give me the Rams after a bye week to prepare.
  22. Against teams like Mart that's all it often takes. Good teams make you play mistake free ball.
  23. Munday is in the same boat as Electra up in the Texoma area. Dwindling numbers and nothing to keep or bring in families. Wasn't that long ago both schools were regularly highly competitive and Munday produced 2 monster athletes and winning state. Heck didn't they upset Muenster like 5 years ago in the third round?
  24. You mean rules implemented to improve player safety? The bigger, stronger, faster teams have always been the ones who win. Now its just less likely little johnny doesn't get killed attempting to throw a bad cut block on a bigger kid. The game is still violent and physical. We just teach improved techniques to keep kids healthy. If you don't think the teams winning state are physical go and visit Shiner, Mart, SOC or any other winning program. They are physical and impose their will on who they play.
  25. Electra is a dying town, older population and no reason for young families to move in. Less than 100 left in the high school and most, if not all of the talent has moved to closer to Wichita Falls. They need to drop down to 6 man and they'd significantly more competitive.
