Since you are so familiar to the program as you say, I'm interested to know what you think the magic recipe is to winning in Groveton.

Some schools seem to think the answer is always running off the coach. In reality, it is usually a case of administration covering themselves and giving into pressure from people who have no idea what it takes to run a program. This is one crazy business.......

Will "sparking" the community bring back the athletes that it had back when it was a "great" place? Just wondering, because the talent level is not the same as it once was......

This is one crazy post. Everyone must be really bored if we are talking about two coaches standing on the sideline in a touch football game that was 6 months ago!!!! lol

I've been looking at scores and Cooper seems to be rolling again this year. Has anyone seen them play, and how would you compare them to last year's Cooper team (that was also really good)?

I agree, the 2010 game was a hard fought one for sure. Groveton had a hard time recovering from that loss both physically and mentally, and lost the next week to Arp in the first round. I think this Friday could be another great game as well. I hope fans from both sides come out and create a great atmosphere in Groveton Friday night!!

Lovelady has a really good team and Groveton went toe to toe with them. The district race will be much more competitive this year. I agree it is really early, but Groveton will be in the mix this year.

Agreed. Lovelady has created a winning culture over the past 20 years and they expect to win. This is a rivalry going way back. There have been some really good games between these two. I recall a Lovelady win one year and them putting the scoreboard on some t-shirts, followed the next year by a Groveton win and a late add on touchdown that did not go over real well in LL. Gotta love those small town rivalries. Good luck to both teams this Friday night.
