    That's Kiffin like.

Hiring Kiffin is would both a mega high and a mega low for me. In one hand, As a human being I think heโ€™s a scumbag and honestly everything I donโ€™t want in a coach. But in the other hand, heโ€™s an excellent football coach that always seem to get the most out of his team and could honestly probably dominate at a team with resources like A&M. Right nowโ€™s heโ€™s just not able to get what he needs to beat Bama and Georgia, but maybe with A&M he gets over the hump. If A&M hired him it would tell me they finally have gotten over making the good old boy hire and is ready to get down and dirty in the public perception to win some games.

    Day would require bigger

No he wouldnโ€™tโ€ฆ You guys are looking at this wrong. Itโ€™s not him leaving a great Ohio st job. Itโ€™s a situation where if he takes the A&M job, itโ€™s because he is boarder line being allowed to leave on his own terms rather than be fired next year if he lost to Michigan again.ย
    ย

Ohio st and its fans are not happy with him. It wouldnโ€™t take a ridiculous contract for him to leave. I donโ€™t think heโ€™s the guy going to be hired by A&M, but it wonโ€™t him leaving for money.ย

The contract is going to be more incentive based, we know that. Someone like Fisch is one we'd get cheap who could earn a lot more.ย

That said, dismantling Arizona State doesn't really mean much. What he did to turn them around is impressive, though.ย

I agree on all points. Heโ€™s a guy that you can hire this year at a good price but with similar results next year he might be the hottest name on the market. I personally am completely okay taking him over Day. But I think Day is a great hire as long as the contract is A&M friendly. The Ohio st boards are demanding his head, so this might be a very realistic option. The next 48 hours should be interesting for both candidates.ย

I donโ€™t want him. Etex made all the points- he was handed a made program, wins a lot of games against bad teams, canโ€™t get over the humpโ€ฆ he Lincoln 2.0.ย

A&M isnโ€™t even winning the games it should right nowโ€ฆ. Heโ€™s probably a high floor low ceiling hire but thatโ€™s progress at the moment. You donโ€™t handcuff yourself with a stupid contract again, but heโ€™s the best hire if you can get him for the right price.ย
    ย

But I am watching Fisch right now dismantle ASU and thinking if you get him at a much lower price than Day youโ€™re in a decent spot. So if the contract is right take Day, but Fisch is a very intriguing hire if they go that route.ย

IF Ryan Day comes to A&M, which is a possibility after losing to M again, what makes him different than Jimbo? Serious question because I donโ€™t know enough about the guy except OSU may want him gone just like FSU wanted Fisher out. The guy literally beats everyone but Michigan.ย

One thing is he rarely loses games he shouldnโ€™t. A&M will be as talented or more talented than all but 2 games per year most years. Even just beating the miss teams every year and getting A&M to 10-2 type seasons consistently would be a step in the right direction. If in 4-5 years Day is the same situation at A&M that he was at Ohio st where he finishes with 10-11 wins but canโ€™t win the biggest game, then we can reevaluate where to go from there. But in a 12 team playoff thatโ€™s a great spot to be.ย

You are a 7-8 win program. Why would you not change?

A lot of people think this team is just a few plays away (and a few injuries) from being 11-1. The world has convinced them that if most of the staff or all the staff leaves that the team will be decimated in the portal and it will start a rebuild mode. Thats not going to happen. A&M will lose a few guys, but the bulk of the team is going to stay. Thereโ€™s no need to hire someone and/or retain someone just to keep the roster in order.ย

35-30 with 7:20 left and you've called it game? wth smh

Yea I disagree with that take. Watching yet another 1 possession game in the 4th makes me wonder what this team is like without playing a 3rd string QB. Could Connor Weigman win this game? Could they be 11-1 with him? Iโ€™m so sick of having hurt QBs leave so much doubt in the results of a season. Hopefully with Jimbo gone we can see what itโ€™s like to start the same QB all 12 games. Havenโ€™t had that in 3 seasons.ย

The only guy who probably would not have had massive staff turnover would have been Elko.

Whoever you hire will want their own people.ย

Fisch from Arizona (who I think it will be) has worked with Durkin and a couple of the offensive assistants and calls his own plays. There are very real scenarios where he leaves most of the defensive staff in place and just brings a couple of his offensive assistants.ย

No way Day is going to take that kind of a downgrade in programs ... forget money ....

What you donโ€™t understand is these coaches view a job differently than fans view trophy cases. Thereโ€™s nothing Ohio st has that helps him win football games today that A&M doesnโ€™t have. What other coaches have won in the past does not mean a single thing to coaches and how they view jobs. People like you who canโ€™t understand that are why guys like myself and Josh Pate are so worked up that you canโ€™t understand the difference in job vs program.ย
    ย

That being said, Day will be under a slightly warm seat if he loses today. Not like they would fire him today or anything, but they are starting to put the pressure on him to beat Michigan and win a title. If he canโ€™t break through soon his seat will get warm. Ohio st doesnโ€™t settle for winning 10-11 games and not winning a title. Day and Ohio st may mutually agree a change of scenery is needed for him. I know you donโ€™t understand the dynamics of that but heโ€™s already one of the highest paid coaches in football. The smoke around this is not just his agent trying to get him a raise.ย

I did not realize LSUโ€™s defense was so bad. Ranked #103/130 in FBS - only lower D in SEC is Vanderbilt. Aggie win might be an upset to some, but I think the Aggies have the better team. LSU is fortunate this game is not in CS.ย

A&M is the better team overall. I mean if you have this type of game management all year from Jimbo that a first time HC is showing, they are likely 10-1 right now. They lost close games to Bama, Ole Miss and Tennessee that with just better clock management they win.

  11. A&M is looking at several guys and for sure some we arenโ€™t hearing about. IMO Traylor is somebody they could get any time they want. All the smoke around him is unnecessary. If they want him heโ€™s theirs. IMO he is the smokescreen for someone else. They are leaking him because if they hire him it looks like who they wanted all along. If they hire someone else Traylor getting all this attention kept the focus off their real candidate and his current job wasnโ€™t able to counter correctly.ย

I also know that A&M was not the only SEC school in their โ€œregionโ€. They battle LSU in Houston.

But they were the SEC school in Oklahomaโ€™s region which is DFW.ย
    ย

If that makes sense of what I am trying to say.ย

It does make sense what youโ€™re trying to say, I just disagree with it lol. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised when A&M still recruits top 5-10 classes even with Texas and OU in the SEC. It wasnโ€™t just the sec patch that sold kids on A&M.ย

If A&M wants Lanning then they absolutely have a chance to land him.ย

If Lanning wants in the SEC then it is a great opportunity.ย

Oregon will be a less attractive job in the Big 10.

Though out of fairness I will say A&M is a less attractive job today than it was 5 years ago too imo because of the addition of Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC.

I donโ€™t agree with that last part. Texas and OU joining the sec doesnโ€™t make the facilities downgrade, doesnโ€™t hurt a kids chances to make the league or hurt A&Ms coaching staff. The thing is A&M has been competing with Bama and Georgia for recruits the whole time. Adding Texas and OU doesnโ€™t change the difficulty of the conference and kids have shown they donโ€™t care about staying home so Bama and Georgia are still just as big of threats.ย

I like Glenn Schumann. SEC guy. Kirby Smart sings him praises all the time.ย

I have no issue with this. One thing I want is a coach thatโ€™s hungry. A first year HC is that. Hes seen how championship programs are built first hand and is not going to command 10mil a year to come like Lanning.ย
    ย

Honestly Iโ€™m not against Elijah Robinson being elevated permanently. Heโ€™s a recruiting stud and he doesnโ€™t have the arrogance yet to think he can call plays and handle HC duties. It saves a ton of money and he can keep the defensive staff in place along with most of the talent. Spend more on an offensive staff. In 3 years if the experiment fails youโ€™re not out a ton because you got him cheap and you can regather the funds to make a splash hire.ย
