  1. It's been longer than 2 years since I've been over here. And I doubt any OU game would make me disappear, especially since UT has won 3 of 4 and OU is a good program. A loss to the sorry ags probably would, but I doubt it was that either. I don't think I was over here for either of the last two. Lots of revisionist history. Don't really remember why I left. Don't think it really matters. Probably not going to be around too often as it is. I'll probably just pop in every now and again and check out the threads and see if there's anything I can add to a Texas thread. If it's not about Texas I doubt I'll waste the time reading it.
  2. Two weeks is a world away, but I'm more worried about OSU and Kansas right now than Tech after watching their performance today against their main rival. Ruffin better find a new defense if he wants to compete against Texas' offense. And if the A&M defense can force turnovers like they did Leach better figure something out because UT's defense is 1,000x better than anything from CS. I just hope that both teams are still undefeated and Gameday heads to Lubbock. I'm just mad that Ohio State blew out Michigan State today because if they had lost rumor had it that Gameday was just going to stay in Austin for another week. I bet Herbstreit and Fowler are mad because they'll admit that Austin is their favorite stop. They say it on the air and I've met both of them around Austin and they've said it when I've talked to them too.
  3. Too bad I'd like to be bored sometimes. Next week I'll actually get 2 days off for the first time in almost 3 months. It'll almost be like a vacation for me.
  4. If Tech plays like they did today against A&M in two weeks Leach won't have anything to complain about because the score won't even be close. They are a good team, but nowhere near as good as everyone thinks they are. Their offense is good, but Texas will have faced three offenses in a row that are as good if not better in OU, Missouri and Okie State and their defense is still a complete joke. They were letting Ryan freaking Tannehill run around in their secondary wide open. What are they going to do against Quan Cosby and Jordan Shipley? And I'm not even going to get into what I think Will Muschamp will do to those weak wide o-linemen splits. If our front four can dominate OU's offensive line they will be feasting to knock out a punk like Harrell. Yeah the echeese reference is from a poster on a couple of other boards. I also posted this on another UT site that I'm a member of that's invite only. I didn't think about changing it.
  5. What an ugly, ugly football game. If Tech is a top-10 football team that's one heck of a weak top 10. They were terrible. I thought the defense was supposed to better this year. They look just like the same sorry Tech defense of recent memory. They pretty much let a pedestrian aggy offense move the ball at will against them. And the offense looked good, but if they turn the ball over like they did today against UT or OU they are going to get blown out of the water. They did everything in their power to keep A&M in the game. Every chance they had in the 1st half or early in the 2nd after the fumbled kickoff to put the game away they turned the ball over. I guess a win is a win, but they have a lot of improving to do. I'm not really going to get into A&M too much, but their offense looked pretty good. As bad as they've played this year you have to see the improvement on offense. I think Jerrod Johnson is going to be a good QB in time, but playing behind that patchwork o-line is not helping him at all and there's no help for him on the horizon. Fran's o-line recruiting was borderline criminal and Sherman's not doing any better. I wasn't able to watch a lot of the game, but noticed Goodson got hurt. I didn't read the entire thread, but is he ok? He's their best offensive weapon and if he goes down their offense will suffer. He's a proven game-breaker. And I agree with the poster who said that they should just start scheming for UT. That's their only chance of winning that game and it's probably a longshot at that point. It wouldn't surprise me one bit for A&M to enter that game stuck on 2 wins and Sherman staring unemployment dead in the face.
  6. Wow. Unreal. To be honest this game was about as good of a performance as Texas has put up in a long time. And that includes the national title 2005 year. The defense forced Missouri 3 and out more times in the first half than the Tigers had done all season long. That in itself is just nasty impressive. The fact that Colt McCoy and the offense scored pretty much every time they touched the football just made it a blowout and quick. I don't know what the best defense Texas has had in a while, but if this one doesn't end up the best since I've been alive (born in '83) than they will be pretty darn close. The numbers might not reflect it because of late scores and early season struggles, but right now I'd put our defense up against any in the country and be perfectly happy. They flat out dominated Missouri tonight and completely took control of the game. It was a beautiful thing to watch. If we allow Will Muschamp to interview anywhere else without offering him something outrageous to stick around we are completely out of our heads. He's the best thing to happen to our program since we named Mack Brown our head coach a decade ago. And as much grief as Greg Davis has received and how many times echeese has been called out because of his defense of him you can't fault him whatsoever. He's been nearly flawless this season. I hate to say it because I think Irby is a hell of a player, but him going down might be the best thing to happen to our offense. Since we went to a base 4 WR set last week we've been pretty much unstoppable and Colt can't miss. This offense doesn't have the playmakers and doesn't have Superman at QB, but I'd put this offense up against the 2005 version and take my chances. Right now I'm just enjoying the ride because it's just fun, fun, fun. We still have a tough road ahead, but the way we're improving on offense and defense will just make us a force. Don't book your tickets to the title game just yet, but it wouldn't hurt to start looking either.
  7. Yeah I don't even post there too often anymore. Good to see so many people are still around that I remember.
  8. Clemson needs to hire Bobby Johnson from Vandy. He's done a really good job at that program and is a native South Carolinan with a home still in the state. Granted, I'm a Horn and don't want to see Muschamp leave, but if I'm an AD at a place like Tennessee or Auburn I'm looking at guys like Johnson or Brian Kelly (Cincinnati) or Lane Kiffin or Bronco Mendenhall or Chris Peterson. Current head coaches at smaller schools that are successful already. Major programs can't really afford to sit back and hope they get a hire right. They need to hire as close to a sure thing as they can, especially a place like Auburn that is going to have to deal with Saban and Alabama for a pretty long time. Of course, after saying that I'd be more than happy for Deloss Dodds and Mack to work out a Jimbo Fisher type of deal with Muschamp where he ends up taking over whenever Mack retires or Mack moves up to AD himself. As for Muschamp's recruiting, we really haven't seen a lot of it thus far this season. Most of the class was already pinpointed and getting worked on when he arrived. The two big names that he could help land are Dre Kirkpatrick from Alabama (a longshot since there's rumors going around that he already has a roommate for the Tide) and Jarvis Jones, a Georgia LB. Both of them point to Muschamp as a major reason for looking at Texas and if he can help reel either of them in he'd had made his mark as far as I'm concerned. In all honesty though, he doesn't get paid to recruit. Texas has guys like Oscar Giles, Bobby Kennedy, Major Applewhite, etc. to do the major legwork when it comes to recruiting. Muschamp makes his money building our defense into a nasty unit and shutting opponents down. For all I care he doesn't have to spend one second recruiting as long as his defense keeps getting better. But for the question, yes, he can recruit.
  9. Let's see...got in a car wreck, moved back home from Austin, got engaged and then married and now I'm a working man with little to no time on his hands. Plus, I've stuck with a couple of UT boards that I frequent and that's about it. Figured I'd come back here and see how much it's changed in the long time that I've been gone. Just from looking at the member numbers it sure looks like the site has grown like crazy. I didn't realize how early of a member that I was until I noticed those. I guess I'm the dinosaur coming back from extinction here. CSmoak, that was one heck of a game last Saturday. Absolutely unbelievable. The only reason it wasn't the best ever was because I wasn't able to go. It makes me mad because my dad was there and had a ticket for me, but I couldn't get off work. Typical. And then this week was supposed to be my vacation so I could travel to Austin and watch the Missouri game (was planning it bc UT has never lost the week after OU under Mack), but that didn't work out either. Hasn't been a good couple of weeks for me.
  10. Rhino who else is still around these days? It's been awhile since I've been here.
  11. Muschamp will be back next year unless something drastic changes. And even though I love him to death I think Tim Brewster might be the guy next in line to take over for Mack if he keeps winning at Minnesota. That guy can recruit and is quickly proving he can coach. Either way I'd be happy with Muschamp (who I think is the next Bob Stoops) or Brewster.
  12. Yep I'm trolling. That's it. I'm really trying to find out how many of the old timers are still around from back when this forum was just starting. There were a lot of good posters back then that I hope are still around. If not, then I'll probably go back into hiding so Smoaky doesn't have to get mad at me like he used to. And I'm not too worried about the #1 ranking because the scary part about it is that we're a year away. Heading into the season even Mack Brown said that he thought next year was going to be the year we competed. The fact that we're playing the way we are RIGHT NOW is awesome and should be really scary if your an aggy or OU fan.
  13. 43-21 6 minutes left. The Lobo defense got to Marshall in time for the 2nd half and Longview looks like they will beat Marshall for like the 1,000th time in a row. Is it even a rivalry anymore?
  14. English wasn't my strong suit amigo. Just like I tend to mess up on their and they're. It happens.
  15. Been a long time, but I guess I'll make an appearance every now and again to rile up all those Sooner and aggy fans out there. I guess its a good time since we just knocked off #1 OU and aggy is staring a 2 win season dead into the face right now. How many people are still around from a couple of years back when I used to be Public Enemy #1?
