  1. Heres a thought madam.....maybe Grand Saline, which is good every year in softball and has one of the best coaches in East Texas in Paul Trent.....is superior to Winnsboro in this sport. I dont even follow GS sports anymore and know that much. GS girls will get even better as the season goes on and look for another "lopsided" score when they play again.
  2. As some of you know, Rush Limbaugh has called out B Hussien Obama out and challenged him to a debate on his show to debate the issues. Limbaugh is basically daring Senator Socialist (Senator, Bc he is not my president) to a debate on his show or on live primetime air. Limbaugh said either or. Obama has not responded. Rush would absoultely eat Obama alive. Obama would be exposed as everything that he really is, a pompous, arrogant, socialistic idealistic fool who has no clue how to run a country that is full of people that dont want his change and hope. Limbaugh would embarass him. All of the Hope and Change that got every fool who voted for Obama excited would be shattered and exposed as empty and just plain wrong for this country. Obama is smart enough to stay away from him. But either way, Obama loses. If he does debate rush, hes humiliated. If he doesnt, rush keeps him painted as a coward whos not smart enought to debate him. Either way, Rush wins. Opinions please.
  3. Texas Tech = sizable win for UT as Tech will be breaking in a new QB and they lost too much on O Theyll have batch, britton, swindall, and Lewis all back. They did well against UT. T-Potts is going to be fine, he will have a acouple of cupcake to feast on. Dont worry He will be better and more prepared then you think. The O line will be fine, not as good but fine. Offense will be ok. Texas main advantage will be against an inexperienced Tech secondary. That scares me. I expect Texas to win, they are just better on paper, but a blowout, no thanks. Techs offense will be more than able to keep up with Texas, but playing in Austin is tough. and Texas will be on a mission this year, like Tech was last year.
  4. I cant believe no one has mentioned Grand Saline and Van. This was a NASTY rivalry for many years. I graduated from Grand Saline and my dad from Van and he told me stories about some of the stuff that would happen before/after the games like fights and all kinds of Vandalism (pardon the pun) on both sides. One year Grand Saline snuck over to Vans field to put salt on the grass and killed the stadium grass and spelled out INDIANS, so the next year, the night before Grand Saline homecoming bonfire, Van students got wind that GS had their bonfire built the night before it was supposed to be burned, so they snuck over to GS, doused it with Gas and burned the bonfire down in the middle of the night so GS wouldnt have a bonfire. These are just some examples. My favorite is when GS started to Dominate Van in the early 80's and this started a bad rivalry between Carter Elliott and Mal Fowler two inconic coaches in their towns and programs. Some great games, as both programs were great at the time. GS dominated the 40's 80's and 90's and took the first 3 games in the 2000's. Van dominated the 60's 70's and has dominated since 2004. This rivalry is over 80 years old now.
  5. Did you even bother to read the body of the article before blowing hot air? This award was chosen by the Fans EXCLUSIVELY. Did you not read that? AT&T had nothing to do with picking the award recipient. Harrell got almost 55 percent of the vote and left everyone else in his tracks. There was no politics, no elite body of pep clubbers deciding this one. The fans got the pick, and I can guarantee you Tech doesnt have the fan base to rig this award. Face it, Harrell was numero uno in the sight of the average fan.
  6. LUBBOCK, Texas - AT&T announced the 2008 AT&T All-America Player of the Year, the only major college football award chosen exclusively by fans. Fans across the nation have made their voices heard and voted Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell as the best college football player in the nation. Receiving over 260,000 text votes, Harrell is the second Texas Tech player in a row to win the award; Michael Crabtree of TTU received the honors in 2007. Harrell won AT&T's All-America Player of the Week four times this season, the most of any player this year. Harrell passed for 4,437 yards and threw for 41 touchdowns, two touchdowns within breaking the NCAA career record and had a passer rating of 163.03. He also rushed for six touchdowns and led the Red Raiders to their first 10-0 start in 70 years, beat a No. 1 team for the first time and led TTU to a school record of No. 2 in the polls. In the AT&T Cotton Bowl, Harrell completed 36 of 58 passes for 364 yards and four touchdowns in the Red Raiders' loss to Mississippi. Harrell finished his college career with an FBS-record 134 passing touchdowns. He received 54 percent of the votes to beat out an impressive field of nominees, including University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy (20 percent), University of Florida quarterback Tim Tebow (18 percent) and University of Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford (8 percent). "AT&T congratulates Harrell on having a spectacular season and for winning the AT&T All-America Player of the Year award," said Tim McGhee, executive director of national sponsorships for AT&T's wireless unit. "We are proud to be able to deliver the technology that allows the fans voices to be heard so that they can honor the player that they choose. Our hats go off to the winner and the other nominees we are grateful to the fans who participated." Fans determined the winner by sending a text message and casting their votes for the nominees. Polls stayed open until Tuesday, Jan. 6. In addition, each vote received an entry into a sweepstakes to win a trip to the 2010 BCS National Championship game in Pasadena, California. Last year, Texas Tech freshman wide receiver Michael Crabtree was honored as the AT&T All-America Player of the Year, edging Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow of Florida, Arkansas' Darren McFadden and Virginia's Chris Long.
  7. First off, my mistake, it was Kevin Mathis, not Kevin Smith also a Dallas Cornerback that played at TAMU-C. Smith was an aggie. want to clear that up. I agree with the above, Cooper came here from SMU and hes a good smart director. I had lunch with him with some other students in the business school my senior year and he has some really good ideas about what to do. The athletics has been mediocre with the exception of Track , CC and Girls soccer and girls bball. He knows its not just the athletes but the community of the school itself. I think this was the best move for the Lions.
  8. As most of you know, I hate with every fiber of my being UT. I hate Mack Brown, I hate Bevo, I hate everything that slightly resembles burnt orange. but for the duration of this post I will put that aside. The media, without a doubt, loves the yankee hollywood esque teams. I will never forget the 06 title game after Texas beat USC, instead of going to speak to VY or Mack Daddy, they go find Matt Leinart and Pete Carroll! Not a single interview for any texas player. NOt one! This shows that the media is a bunch of northern elitists with their nose up in the air. They dont want to see southern teams succeed. And its not just in the this sport. The media was solidly against the Mavericks and Stars when they were in the finals. and they have stopped slobbering over bradford to dedicat all their saliva to tim tebow. and of course, their obessesion with USC is just outright sickening. This standard applies to just about every team. Florida, while geographically in the south, is not that way culturally for the most part. Even though Texas and the deep south produces the best players, the media just loves the so cal beach boys and the yankee ohio preps, but the southern bumpkins like Graham Harrell Colt McCoy and others have stats and success that speak for themselves. Anyone who questions that the media is so biased toward the USC, OSU, Floridas of the world is at best, foolishly ignorant, and at worst dishonest. Im glad Texas won. I despise the nose up in the air attitude of the yankees more than anything. Good Job Texas. OU is running out of time. Boomer Sooner and go Big 12
  9. I graduated from A&M Commerce last december and i can tell you that half the stuff being said here about the program is not true. Here is what i know for a fact. Scott Conley, the previous coach, has been removed because he cant win and cant find athletes disciplined enough to be a good student athlete. I had classes with a lot of football players and let me tell you, most arent worth a dollar of scholarship money. THey know they are safe to screw around and play around and scotty boy will take care of them. The football tradition at TAMU-C is actually very distinguished. There was a national championship won in 1972, and multiple bowl appearances. The hay day was in the 60's and 70's and early 90's. Since then nothing has been done. TAMUC has given some distinguished pros such as Kevin Smith, Harvey Martin, Wade Wilson, and multiple others. The program is NOT, i reapeat NOT in danger of being done away with. They are, however, about to start kicking players off the team that do not live up to the student athlete role well enough, and my Gosh there are a lot of them. The difference between this president and the previous one, is that this president has started to kick out kids and athletes who do not want to be serious students. This president aint very PC, which is what A&M Commerce needs. Also, the " nice gym" being referred to is the rec center, which is very nice. The fieldhouse, where basketball and vball is played, is old as the hills. Also, further proof that the school is not about to do away with football, the A&M system bought land just outside of town on 224 west to build a new stadium and new arena for basketball and football. ITs about time for Conley to be canned. Maybe they can bring someone in who will bring good players in and establish a disciplined program.
  10. To all SDC members, This morning while after drinking my coffee something came to my attention that disturbed me. Before I could even log on, i recieved a message saying that the term "Jack***" was not acceptable and that i had been banned for 10 days. I had no clue what this meant till checking my posts realizing that i had called my good friend immortal13 that flattering name. Except, that post was not done by me personally. I was in my college town that day and was at my friends apartment when we were reading a heated post. My friend mentioned what he thought of immortal13, also being a hardcore aggie, he saw that immortal was a big texas fan, and after a little too much sam adams (which is all it takes), he put something on there that was the post you know now of. I had no clue he posted it until this morning. I gave my friend a phone call and he said he did not know that such things will get you in trouble here. I mentioned that SDC is far more tame and restricted in what you can and cannot post than other sites. I have already cleared it up with the mods and they have been great in getting this cleared up. I do apologize for the actions of my friend and will remember to keep my name locked from now on. Crossfire
  11. are you guys kidding me?? This is going to be an absolute blood bath. Tech will blow baylor right off the field. You want "style points"? Well you got em. Texas Tech-77 Baylor-17
  12. No they lost that game becuase they could not stop a simple running attack of GS to the Left, GS to the Right, GS up the middle. That game would have gone to OT and GS would have won b/c they were not stopped the whole night. AG had to rely on one guy for that game to be close on 3 big plays. And he scooted to SS so he could win and get scouted. That was AG's best team ever, and they still couldnt make the playoffs in what was a very weak district last year.
  13. If "ifs and buts" were candy and nuts, then everyone in Austin would have a merry christmas. Texas Lost. Tech Won. Get over it. Its been almost 2 weeks now. This will be a good game, but if OU's secondary doesnt shape up, Harrell, Crab, Morris, Britton and Lewis will absolutley Eat OU alive. Techs Defense is better than OU's. IMHO. Texas Tech plays the way they did the past two weeks, I dont care if this game was played in the Oklahoma State Capital or on a Tribal Reservation Tech will win. But thats another "IF". Tech must put pressure on Sam Bradford and stuff the run, that happens, Tech will punch themselves a Ticket to the Big 12 title game.
  14. Tech and A&M are my teams so..... 1- Jordan Shipley- I love the way he plays receiver, I saw run the 200 meter dash at the state track meet my senior year and he is incredibly fast. Hes a very disciplined route runner and just solid receiver. 2-Chase Daniel- Good Quarterback. 3-Matthew Stafford- Best Pro Style QB IHMO in the nation. 4-Robert Griffith- He will make Baylor a competitor as some point in the future. 5-Lendy Holmes- A fast, hard hitting guy. Cant get any better than that. Some Past Players I rooted against but loved to watch- Nathan Vasher- He was my role model in how to play in the secondary. Great hitter and fast fast fast. Colt Brennan- System QB but a good one at that. Josh Heupel- Best QB the Big 12 had ever had till Vince Young.
  15. Texas will not be able to recover from the awful loss they incurred in Lubbock. Baylor will come in and Take one from the longhorns. HAHAHA just Kidding Texas 56 Baylor13
