MV will win this one but what is going on with the Purple Tigers?
-
I can tell you many within the community would disagree.

The game will go down as a No Contest yeah MaxPreps will show a W for Gilmer, but I guess I’d say the same thing too if the other team had all the momentum

Paris(3-3)(1-2) @ Terrell(4-2)(1-1) Friday 7:30 Kickoff
stevosev7 replied to regaleagle's topic in High School Sports
Paris blows out the 2nd half and wins 28-7. And it wasn’t even that close. Officials pre maturely blew whistles that cost Paris 2 fumble recoveries. Off setting personal foul penalties negated a third fumble recovery. Paris quit committing penalties and Terrell couldn’t stop them. -
Chisum does have a beast at RB. And just got arguably their 2nd best player back last week. Yes, the pre district schedule wasn’t the strongest, but they took care of business rather than the Chisum of old who may let the lesser teams hang around. Pewitt has history, culture, tradition on their side. Still have a couple of sophomores from the state title team who are now Seniors. Played an extremely tough pre district schedule, (which, get rid of the Celina game. It benefits no one). Overall, Pewitt will be the favorite as they should be, but if they sleep on Chisum they’ll regret it. Coming from someone raised in and around Morris Co. and now living in Paris.

Paris came out punching, but those punches went from connecting to the Bobcats jaw to hitting themselves in the face. - 2 turnovers in the red zone - Far too many free play penalties - Allowed a 50+ yard TD run on 4th down - Allowed a 94 yard TD pass when Celina was backed against their own end zone. - gave Celina a couple of short fields on a shanked punt and a fumble inside the 10

Home team has won each game the last three years. Both had fantastic week 1 showings. Each team has a blow out win in ‘18 and ‘19 while Paris won an OT thriller in ‘20. We’ll see what 2021 has to offer. Fantastic measuring stick game for both teams. Give me Paris by a touchdown.

Paris is extremely fast.

Mount Vernon vs Jim Ned State Semi Finals
stevosev7 replied to Jeepster89's topic in High School Sports
The RB for Jim Ned is definitely that dude. Over 2000 yards rushing + receiving. 1900+ of that is rushing. So as he goes, Jim Ned goes. The QB can run a little and is a good passer. 2 is a playmaker as well. But 5 is the key. as far as the silence surrounding Briles, he hosted a media day when he first got to MV and they handed out fliers when everyone got there saying he won’t answer any questions about the Baylor situation and it was pretty much left at that ever since. Now the local media covers them like they would any other team who’s having they’re success. -
Argyle. Maybe. Game will never happen though.
-
Paris played with a lot more heart in this game. Just couldn’t get a stop, so argyle only needed one or two stops to give themselves a cushion. Argyle has an outstanding offensive line and offensive philosophy. I was impressed with the QB, but 5 and 87 are absolute beasts. Definitely Saturday kids. Believe Lott the TE is only a Jr. kid looks like a potential Sunday player. Sticks out like a man amongst boys

I mean, after the snowballing happened, yea, Celina dominates up front. But Q1 was all about Paris missing tackle after tackle.
-
I wouldn’t say Celina’s OL is dominating Paris so much as Paris is scared to tackle 4. Several times they’ve been in position and just whiffed.
-
I guess no one else in this district has VIPs

Accommodation for visiting coaches is very, very poor for a $25 million dollar stadium (no, I am not a coach), but coaches had to clean the windows of the visitor press box themselves, they were so dirty. Radio also in the same room with coaches.

Doesn’t Celina have a brand new stadium?

Paris Wildcats @ Mount Pleasant Tigers Homecoming
stevosev7 replied to budmanmpfan's topic in High School Sports
Believe Jackson is a junior. But with the way he’s ran, it’s reasonable to think he’ll be an all state candidate. Hats off to MP. Score doesn’t reflect how improved they are, especially on defense. Look out for the Tigers next season. This years team is young -

Paris and it could be over by halftime -
Jefferson. North Lamar has been down for the better part of the decade and this season may be their worst.

I didn’t see an answer choice for “the two party system is an illegitimate form of governing people which both Washington and John Adams warned us against. It’s the beginning stage of divide and conquer.” So I didn’t vote.
-
I’m not sure what Terrell brings to the table but I remember they generally were very athletic yet undisciplined at times. I’ll take Paris in this game by a decent margin. 31-14

When Paris needed a drive to tie the game back up (or take the lead) Jackson just didn’t allow it he had a big tackle in the backfield and a couple of sacks down the stretch. I overheard a coach in the box say “if he’s not 6’6” with his reach he probably doesn’t make that sack.” from what i was told Landon is deciding between Texas and Texas A&M, though he has several other offers.
