  1. I think Chapel Hill wins this one at home. Chapel Hill 27 Pleasant Grove 13
  2. IMO, this game is a mismatch. While it'll probably be hard for the Yellowjackets to get UP for this one, I still think they win easily. Elysian Fields 48 Timpson 6
  3. No disrespect to Garrison, but I can't see y'all hanging with the Mighty Eagles in this one. 'Nuff said. Tatum 55 (or as many as they allow themselves) Garrison 21 (with two of those TDs in the 4th after it's decided)
  4. I doubt that seriously. That WAS a different era. Gone are the days of 3-yards-and-a-cloud-of-dust type offenses (for the most part). We can debate it all we want, but the fact of the matter is, we'll never know for sure. No doubt that was the best defense I've ever seen, but to make today's Gilmer and Tatum squads look like Jr. High teams, that may be a stretch. Especially with the size of the players and the spread offenses of today, I honestly think that Gilmer (and possibly Tatum) could score some points and possibly beat that Tiger team of '83......IF they could stop the Tiger offense. The most overlooked part of that Daingerfield team was their offense and it would take a VERY good defense to stop it. Even though you knew what was coming from their offense, it was EXTREMELY difficult to stop. Sweep left, sweep right, trap up the middle, etc. were their bread-and-butter plays. If either of these two teams could at least slow the Tiger offense down and keep them from scoring more than 3-4 TDs, I think they probably would have a GOOD shot at beating that '83 team. These are just my opinions, and the fact is, we'll NEVER know. And if IFS and BUTS were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas, too!
  5. I'll take Shelbyville in this one. Tenaha could give them a good game if they decide to play defense. I don't see that happening........so Shelbyville 44 Tenaha 26
  6. IMO, New Boston will take this one. New Boston 26 Linden-Kildare 20
  7. Dare I say it? Pine Tree might just make the playoffs in that district. Henderson is much improved but Pine Tree has improved even more. IMO, the Pirates take this one. Pine Tree 35 Henderson 14
  8. IMO, Crockett takes this one. I don't know much about Madisonville, but Crockett has passed every test so far and look to be for real. Crockett 27 Madisonville 14
  9. Hhhmmmm. My brain tells me Bullard should win this one, but my gut tells me White Oak will win this one. Either way, it should be a good game. Okay, since my gut is BIGGER than my brain, I'll say the Roughnecks will win. White Oak 33 Bullard 27
  10. I certainly hope so. The biggest problem I've seen with the Bulldogs this year is conditioning. They are getting tired on defense way too early and haven't been able to put teams away with their inconsistency on offense. I know they don't have any depth -- very few 1A teams do -- but if their offense could keep the defense rested a little more, they could win some games.
  11. IMO, Daingerfield should win this one at home. Daingerfield 43 Hooks 20
  12. IMO, Lindale wins this one. Lindale has improved drastically while Gladewater is inconsistent at best. Lindale 36 Gladewater 23
  13. I'll have to go with the majority of the other people in this poll and say Paris will win this one. I, too, was beginning to think that Pittsburg was for real, and they may still be, but Paris is just plain better than any of the opponents the Pirates have faced thus far. Pittsburg might keep it close for a while, maybe even the whole game, but Paris is likely to win this one. Paris 44 Pittsburg 27
  14. I hope Gilmer doesn't take this one too lightly. No disrespect for the Roughriders, but the Buckeyes should win this one easily. I just hope the Buckeyes put more effort into this game than they did against Daingerfield. If they do, I don't see this game as being remotely close. If they don't.......well, Center could make it respectable (or worse, for the Buckeyes, that is). My hope is that the Buckeyes will come out with fire in their eyes and put them away early. I do know this for a fact, the Buckeyes will not intentionally run the score up. I know it looks bad when you pass in a game that is already decided, but what if that part of your game still needs work (which it does, BTW)? Do you tell your players to stop playing and not work on what needs improving, or do you work on it when you have the opportunity? Eventually, the Buckeyes will have to play ALL 4 quarters at their best in order to win.
  15. No offense, but I'll take the Panthers in a good one. I think both teams have improved on last year, but I think Spring Hill has improved more. Spring Hill 35 Winnsboro 27
  16. Longview beats John Curtis. Longview 39 John Curtis 33 Just remember, you heard it here first!
  17. Now that's impressive! They've got a dynasty over there in North Texas!
  18. Daingerfield is a tough place to play. It was alot tougher a few years ago, but is still tough.
  19. Gilmer usually brings a big crowd. A town of approximately 5,000 will usually bring that many, if not more, to games that are supposed to be a challenge, and in all playoff games. You can count on them filling any stadium they play in (if it holds 5,000 or less on the visitor side), most of the time it's standing room only. They usually get there early, too. At most stadiums, if you're not there by 6:30 for a 7:30 game, you may not get a seat.
  20. I'll have to go with Paul Pewitt in this one. Ball control is the name of the game. Three yards and a cloud of dust will control the clock and keep the Brahma defense well rested. Paul Pewitt 27 New Diana 20
  21. I don't think Sherman is as good as they were last year and I think Sulphur Springs is alot better. Even with that said, I'll have to go with Sherman at home. Sherman 35 Sulphur Springs 34
  22. 16AAA Atlanta Winnsboro Pittsburg Liberty-Eylau North Lamar 15AAA Wills Point Brownsboro Chapel Hill Mineola 14AAA Athens Brownsboro Troup Lindale Chapel Hill Van
  23. I think the three playoff teams out of this district will be New Boston, Hughes Springs, and Daingerfield. The order in which they finish will depend on who stays healthy. 1. New Boston 2. Daingerfield 3. Hughes Springs
  24. I'll have to go with Wills Point in this one. Gladewater just hasn't pulled it together yet. I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bears pull the upset though, but I still have to go with Wills Point. Wills Point 40 Gladewater 29
  25. The Tigers will bounce back in a big way. Texas High 44 Waxahachie 26
