I think 1A-DI's Region III tournament is A LOT tougher than 2A's.

Crawford, Rosebud-Lott, Anderson-Shiro, Groveton and Joaquin. Grapeland will be without a couple of their big scorers for this scrimmage, but it should still be a fun game! Anyone else going? Starts at 11:00 p.m. - Fairfield and Diboll football fans should come on over once their game is done!

I think it would be logical to make the maximum cutoff for 1A (which I'm guessing will be 2A next year) at around 210-229. Schools like Garrison, Groveton, and Joaquin jump across the current cutoff enough already. That would bring many teams down like - Frankston (206), Crawford (210) Riesel (204), Hawkins (213), Groveton (204), Deweyville (201), Clarksville (210), Como-Pickton (213), Ore City (218), Moody (205), Bloomington (208) Johnson City (206) and **Schulenburg (212) and **Refugio (204) ---- Essentially recreating the old Class 2A -- especially since many of the old 2A's have dropped to 1A already.

Always a big game! Who wins it? **I was wrong, this is the 81st time these two teams have played each other. Grapeland leads the series 42-36-3, but the Elks have won the last three - last year's was 49-2.

Mine would have to be: 1.) Celina vs. Garrison 2001 2A State Championship game @ Waco ISD (Celina 41, Garrison 35) The Bulldogs were LOADED, and Celina was trying to keep its win streak alive and win a fourth consecutive state title. I've never felt the electric atmosphere I felt at this game anywhere since - not even at the college or pro level. 2.) Corrigan-Camden vs. McGregor 2002 Bi-district game (CC 39, McGregor 6) Going into this game, McGregor was ranked No. 1 in 2A, and the Bulldogs were being somewhat overlooked. Corrigan stomped McGregor, and went on to win the state title by beating Bangs 33-14. 3.) Grapeland vs. Kerens - Pre-district game (Yes, I know it's not on the level as my prior two) (Grapeland 42, Kerens 40) Grapeland had just dropped to 1A, and entered the game with a 2-1 record coming off a 49-6 loss to Lovelady. Kerens entered the game 3-0, and ranked in the top 15 in 2A. The Bobcats were loaded with talent, including QB Austin Bell and WR Pat Faulk. Grapeland went up 14-0 in the 1st Qrt, but Kerens took a 33-14 lead by the half. The score remained 33-14 going into the 4th Qrt, and the Sandies (led by QB Tarrence Faulk) stormed back to win the game 42-40.... It was CRAZY.

I think we should name our district Class 1A's "District of Doom"
