  1. Yeah, tough hit, but I think it was pretty legal. He could have tried flying through the receiver which could have been much worse. Hard to analyze these things until you see the aftermath and the complete result of the hit. I would have to warn the defensive back and no flag.
  2. Question? When was the last time that Pleasant Grove had 62 hung on them? Argyle after two weeks already talking about the Championship?
  3. It sure was hot in Whitehouse last night! The Wildcats had a large crowd at Wildcat Stadium as the Royse City Bulldogs won 27-13. It was hot, but a nice night for Texas High School football. Anybody on here have thoughts on this game. Had to be some Smoaky Fans there with the home side stands were pretty full.
  4. Be great if they wanted too, but my feelings is they would want Jerry World...or maybe Globe Life. Seems that new stadium is getting a lot of playoffs this season. But without a doubt, anybody will get the best treatment playing at Donaghe Ford Field at RCISD Stadium!
  5. Lancaster schedule must have been weak. But, they do have some great talent. Longview got the jump on them and never let up. Congrats to the Lobos! Great win!
  6. I believe this falls in a big upset and by two TD's is big to knock off number 1 ... Ennis did not play well, but Timberview looked great. That's football!
  7. Carthage vs. Ennis? It would be a great game...but Ennis is very good as well. And I say Ennis, because I think they will win 5A DII. I would definitely want to attend that game, if it happened.
  8. Caddo Mills is not used to playing this deep in the season. It is hard for a team that is not a playoff contender every year to keep up that level of play. Gilmer should have won this game, no doubt, but if they played earlier, I believe it could have been a closer score. Now, if Caddo can come back with another team that is playoff bound next year, they should play better the deeper they get. Gilmer's defensive line was the difference maker, I believe. They were able to contain the CM QB more than other teams this year.
  9. I'm thinking that if Royse City can end up with more points than Frisco at the very end of the game, that Royse City will win.
  10. It's always funny how some folks analyze these games, and I'm the world's worst! For instance, if they come out strong, they will play really good and have a chance to win, but if they don't play very well and give up a ton of points, then they could possibly lose, but if they both play hard and neither team has any turnovers and the team that is expected to win, does what it is supposed to do, they could win in a close match where neither teams scores many points, but if they score more than the other team, they should win. I'm thinking the winner will play again next week, maybe...
  11. Royse City at 5-3 and Frisco at 7-1. Royse City losses to Ennis, North Forney and Whitehouse. Frisco loss to Lovejoy.
  12. I'm of the opinion that several times, the new kid on the block has something to prove. Gilmer has proved themselves time and time again and they deserve the edge in this game. The Buckeyes earned it, they have defended it, they have the recognition all over the Great State of Texas and tradition is a deal breaker when you reach this point in a season. But......(very long pause), for all of these reasons, I am going with Caddo Mills to win, upset, spoil, slip by or sneak past the Buckeyes. I'm not from Caddo Mills, however I have checked in on their progress from time to time this crazy year. I've watched them in person a couple of games and streamed the Foxes just to see how they are progressing. I've been a Gilmer Buckeye fan since way back when I was a really young whipper-snapper. They are the program of legendary status and sometimes that is very good and sometimes that is very bad. Most of the times, they use their status to their advantage and I'm banking on them using that status to try and win this game. PG was loaded with DI talent and true, they had a couple injured players, but Caddo Mills was on a mission to take the crown. That Caddo Mills community is literally so fired up, they could levitate that team for a few first downs in this, their best season ever. But don't let the 'Cinderella effect' cloud your judgement, because the Foxes coaching staff ain't gonna let that happen. Just like a Texas Aggie has their '12th. Man', so does the little 'Green Giants' of Caddo Mills. (Their school colors are green and white.) Great discipline, fundamentally sound to the extreme, talented with solid skill players that are capable of breaking the big play and very well coached. Now, this all sounds like Caddo Mills has suddenly created the best team ever. No, I've seen some very good football teams in my lifetime, but this is the kind of team that beats the teams that are better than them. Gilmer has been there, done that and should trot into Ernest Hawkins Memorial Stadium with their heads held high expecting to take this game and live to play another day. But....(very long pause, again), Caddo Mills wins my "Team of the Week" status and takes this one in another heart attack finish.... Foxes 40 Buckeyes 39 P.S. I'm too old and fat to eat too much crow, so please pluck the bird prior to any ingestion by me of that foul fowl....if need be. However, I do wish the very best of luck to both schools and congratulations on a great season!
  13. Not sure about PG, but Caddo Mills has been playing most of their players both ways all year. That includes Townley, the Caddo Mills QB, who played both ways in the game against PG. Royse City is 5A and on the verge of going 6A in the new realignment. Royse City plays their most talented players both ways. In high school football, unless you are the very elite like Allen, the game is demanding that you play your best 11, especially during the playoffs.
  14. PG has a good football squad. But if you hang your hat on one player to make it all the way, I just don't think you make it all the way. PG was trying to outcoach Caddo Mills and it was a great battle between the two head coaches. In my opinion, and I agree that my opinion and a couple of bucks will not buy you a cup of coffee, but in my opinion the team that goes to the Big Show, is the well rounded team from top to bottom. Not one great player, but several good players, like at least 8 or 9 on both sides of the ball. If one very good player goes down, then the rest take up that slack. PG was gassed at the end of the game against Caddo Mills. If the Caddo Mills QB does not get past that one player, the game is over. He then dodged and darted past three other PG players to score. It was a very athletic run by Townley, the QB, but he was able to spread the defense that was anticipating the pass. And PG does not need to hang their head, they played a very good football team and believe me, PG will be back next year and they will return a great team.
  15. Going with Caddo Mills. Everybody is looking at the CM QB as being their entire team. I think that is a mistake. Their defense, with the exception of a couple of expected PG big plays, was doing their job extremely well. If you have ever watched Melissa or Gunter at their best a few years ago, they just did everything according to the book. I know they were a different classification. Very disciplined, very under control, calm and calculating every move and knowing what is coming up next. CM coaching has the most respect among the players and they truly believe they can win regardless of the situation or the opposition. Caddo Mills 37 Gilmer 36
  16. Congratulations to both football teams. They both left it all on the field. Caddo Mills did not get any breaks in this game, it was pure adrenalin and talent that put this one in the win column for the Foxes. I've watched Caddo a few times this year and they are just a very steady football team. Great leadership, great coaching and they just do the basics with very few mistakes. Caddo Mills defense was on fire at the beginning of the game and with the score tied 14 all, you just knew that all of that PG talent was about to break loose and start scoring at will. But it just never really happened. PG is loaded with talent and they are a great team. There were some questionable calls by the referees, but those happen in every game. Overall talent has to go to PG. But I believe that stamina got the best of PG in this one. Caddo Mills just had a little more left in the tank than PG. Great game and both teams fought very hard. It was a game for the ages and one that both teams will remember for a very long time to come.
  17. LOL! It does look like it, but no, we do enjoy the playoff games and atmosphere. It really is an all out community effort and a great time to support high school athletics. We do the same for baseball, softball and basketball. Of course football draws a larger crowd and it does take much more preparation, but with every event we host, we get to meet new folks, promote the experience of playoffs and help our kids at the same time. Often folks say this sounds like a political speech, and I think that is because you just don't find many folks that still want to share some joy. Best of luck to everyone wherever they may play, but if they choose Royse City ISD Stadium, we believe we know how to make those dreams come true for every child whether football player, coach, band, cheerleaders, flag runners, drill team, student body, parents or fans. Playoff season! Best time of the year!
  18. Almost too close to call. PG has all the offensive power and so does Caddo Mills. PG O\Line are the real deal. So is Caddo Mills. PG schedule is a gauntlet of state champions, Caddo Mills is not as impressive, but still not a easy stepping stone to get to this game. Tangibles in this game have got to be on the defensive side of the ball. Leadership may be on the Caddo Mills Senior laden squad. Coaching at PG is the best anywhere and Caddo's young squad of coaches are very, very good. PG may have the best speed that Caddo has faced this season. CM has a QB that plays like a Patrick Mahomes, that can turn on a dime and then turn into a tailback for big yardage. Running game goes to PG. Passing game goes to CM. CM is very good on creating a turnover and turning that turnover into points. Man, I like the guts and stamina of Caddo Mills, but the athleticism at PG is incredible. If PG had won just one of those big games that they lost, I would automatically say PG wins this game. However, they did not finish off their opponents in their biggest games and Caddo Mills never let off the throttle when they got ahead. If Caddo can get a lead, they will win. I'm saying they will create that opportunity and win this one...Caddo Mills 44 Pleasant Grove 41. Good luck to both, because this is a game that should be played in the final.
  19. This is going to be a good one! The Texarkana Pleasant Grove Hawks (9-3) vs. the Caddo Mills Foxes (11-0)! Royse City ISD Stadium always puts on the glitz, the Ritz and the pazzazz for a playoff atmosphere, that celebrates these athletes accomplishments. This year has been a downer, but this week is going to bring up the the spirit of both communities and the entire Northeast Texas football fandom. Perennial favorite Texarkana Pleasant Grove always features some of the very best young talent in the state, and this year, Region II welcomes an amazing undefeated Caddo Mills Foxes football team that looks to challenge the Hawks long standing position of breaking out of the Region and well into the finals to challenge for another state title. Kickoff is at 2:00 p.m. Who you got?
  20. It happens to the very best. We played the number one team in the State in Class 5A DII and we got our tails handed to us. We made them mad, and you do not make Ennis mad and not pay for it in the end. Stats are deceiving sometimes, especially when you look at the final scoreboard total. Ennis had 509 total yards and Royse City had 455. We could not score in the second half, and our defense was riddled by graduation. We learned a lesson and made adjustments. Those adjustments are paying off now. Yes, we are a very good football team. We lost to an excellent football team. I've always thought that a team that progresses forward during the season will be just fine in the playoffs. Hopefully, those adjustments will make sure that we do not get beat by 53 points the next time. LOL! Once again, DO NOT MAKE ENNIS MAD!
  21. Watched about three videos of Van and based on the little bit of video that was offered I think that Van's positive points are a running back with pretty good speed, a QB that can hit his targets and works well in the pocket. O-Line looks strong, D-Line does not look quite as strong as the O-Line does. Receivers are solid. And only based on what very, very little that I was able to watch, I would grade them this way...(Like I have the credentials to give grades...LOL!) Van...(QB- A), (RB- B+), (Receivers- B+), (O-Line-B), (D-Line-C), Secondary (not enough video to grade), Special Teams (not enough video to grade), Overall grade would be in the range of a B average. And there is so much more that I do not know, such as Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator and play selection, Defensive Coordinator, Special Teams, etc. But Van always plays to win and they have a great tradition. Always a respectable and great program with awesome fans. Their opponents are very respectable and their losses come at the hands of some very good football teams. Caddo Mills... (QB-A+), (RB- B), (Receivers-A), (O-Line-B+), (D-Line-A), (Secondary-B+), (Special Teams-A), Coaching (Head-A), (O-Coordinator-A+), (D-Coordinator-A) Overall grade would be an A. Caddo Mills has been building up to this undefeated season. Three years ago, this Seniors were good sophomores and they have gelled to be a dominant football squad. They have been challenged and have played some pretty good teams this season. Aubrey and Sunnyvale were respectable opponents. Caddo Mills has good community support, much like Van. Now this undefeated season means so much to the team and to the community, that I believe gives the Foxes one of those tangibles needed. Add the extremely talented Fox QB, that I believe could play at any classification, and you might find the edge that Caddo Mills needs to win this one. Neither team can withstand turnovers. That is the big Elephant on the field, avoid him and the game is yours. Should be a good game. IF Caddo Mills can get past Van, the next week POSSIBLE matchup would be Caddo Mills vs. Texarkana Pleasant Grove, who I believe will defeat Nevada Community this week. But that is not a 'gimme' either, since the Community Braves knocked off the big top 10 opponent just last week. Great time of the year...it's playoff season and everybody plays better.
  22. Whitehouse is as solid of a team that you can find. The Royse City Bulldogs played them early in the season. We lost 22-20, but we have a very good team this year as well. Whitehouse should win this one 31-19.
  23. Gsquared and Papa G are very familiar with the playoff opportunity that can be found at Royse City ISD Stadium. Call Michael at 214-499-5391 for reservations. These Class 2A, 3A and 4A games are always welcomed. Hey we have hosted 5A and 6A games as well! Excited about some of the pairings coming up and the easy access along with a brand new Bucee's is a bonus. The Bucee's is within rock throwing distance of the stadium! Visit the Beaver Stop and the Bulldog's Home Stadium in one fail swoop!
