  1. Anyway, my point is that the only way Gilmer gets beat this year is if somebody can out score them. There is no defense in 3a football than can completely stop them, NOBODY. Your only hope is to slow them down and out score them, and it looks like thats gonna have to about 40-50 to do that. JMO I beg to differ on the point that nobody can stop Gilmer. Royse City's defense is very, very good. Gilmer is respected as much as any possible playoff team. I believe they will do very well in the next four weeks, but then I think thier season is over. I do not think Royse City will blow out Gilmer...if they really meet, because it will be two great offenses playing. Royse City's defense is very strong and I do not care to say much more about that. We keep speaking of Gilmer vs. Royse City. Are there any other possible playoff teams in East Texas?
  2. Canton 41 Van 28- Canton 350 yards passing- Van 275 yard rushing. Canton at home-big crowd, very annoying announcer, however great place for a football game. Canton's QB is a game breaker. Van's ground game is great, but I see the quick strike passing game having the edge. Eagles fly high this Friday night. Somebody put a muzzle on that announcer at Canton. Only one worse is at Paris North Lamar.
  3. Royse City vs Gilmer- third round at Texas Stadium- Royse City by two touchdowns and a field goal, but Gilmer gives Royse City most competition this year. Just like last season, LE won 27-21 over RC, went on to win state. Same thing, battle of quarterbacks, RC QB may be the best in the state. Just like last year. Middlebrooks, LE QB over RC QB who was a sophomore. ALERT!!! WARNING!!! CAUTION!!!! REMEMBER!!! READ INSTRUCTIONS!!! ALL PARTS NEEDED FOR COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION!!! SEE MANUAL!!!!----------------------------------------------------------------------- BOTH TEAMS MUST WIN THIER FIRST TWO PLAYOFF GAMES TO MEET EACH OTHER!!!!
  4. The Royse City Bulldogs just keep blowing them out. :whome: Morrison passes the 2000 yard mark for the season and throws three more for touchdowns. 21 total for the year. Morrison 20-30-0 and 3 TD's tonight. Four passes dropped, two dropped in the endzone. Bulldogs are 7-0 and 2-0. ^_^ Wills Point is waiting on the Bulldogs for next week's game at the "Point". :coolio: Wills Point slipped by Emory Rains 23-19 tonight and Wills Point is undefeated in District 10 -3A.
  5. Wright is a good football player. I would not consider him great. I think he might play for SFA, Texas A&M Commerce, however, that might be a stretch. Defending his talent is hard to do. If his offensive line is supposed to be so good, then he should be doing much more if he is a DI candidate. Believe me, being good enough to play for SFA is saying alot. I have seen several players of his talent level and I would recommend he begin at ETBU in Marshall and work his way up after a couple years. I would think he needs a little more polish to be a DB at the college level. I would say, tailback at a small college to begin with.
  6. Morrison, a junior quarterback, is at 1800 yards passing, thru 5 games, and 25 touchdowns total. The DI thing started last spring when he was a sophomore. UT, OU and several others are roaming the halls of RCHS now. Move over record holders, this kid is taking over. Dallas Cowboys organization and Ford Motor Company recognized this young man last Friday night as the player of the week in the State of Texas. Big ceremony, trophy, presentation...the whole works. Royse City does not get much publicity, however somebody found this kid and now they are swarming the campus.
  7. I agree SmokieCrabtree. To everybody else...I know and I realize it is way to early to consider this matchup. I am not taking anybody for granted. The old cliche' "You gotta take 'em one week at at time", still applies... I know, I know. It was a question, a for instance, a supposition, a fantasy game if you will. "IF" Royse City and LE played tomorrow night, who would win???? Smokie got the question right and I think he has the right answer. However, this game probably will never happen this season, so...I will ask this...If Royse City were to play Gilmer tomorrow night at 7:30 who would you think would win? This is just a question. Don't get yourself all involved in thinking this out and making a pyschological or philosophical analysis of what if's and why we should not do this, type of answer. I have to go with Royse City. They are one of the most complete football teams I have seen in several years. I am from the Austin area, but I get into Northeast Texas just about every week. I try to go to as many RC Bulldog football games as possible. I have been following them since last year when they lost to LE in the State Quarterfinals in Tyler.
  8. Somebody in East Texas tell me? Can the Leopards hang with Royse City? Or is it, can Royse City hang with LE? Sounds like LE handed Pitt a pretty good beating. Still hard to believe that Wright, Brown and company could be shut down two weeks in a row. Is LaMichael playing quarterback for LE?
  9. This is a hard catagory for many schools that have a good defense. The Royse City Bulldogs have several, Scotty Arterberry-linebacker, Tim Obermier- free safety, Oscar Hernandez- linebacker, Justin Rodgers- corner, Jermaine McKinney-defensive lineman.
  10. Best quarterback? Richard Morrison, Royse City Bulldogs. One of the best to ever play the game and he is just a junior.
  11. I hope this is a joke. The Canton announcer was so annoying, very one sided and loved to hear himself talk. His "CANTON EAGLES....FIRST D..OOOOOWWWWWWNNNNNNNNN! was ridiculous. When the Eagles began to fall way behind, then he be-littled the play of the visiting team, such as and you could barely hear him then....First down, touchdown, oh and extra point was good. I believe if a school district has someone handling their public address system, they should realize they are representing that school district. They should respect the visiting fans and they should also understand that those are actually children playing a game. Even though they are young men and it can be violent at times, an announcer has that responsiblity of crowd enjoyment, knowledge of the game, crowd control and support of all teams involved. I am very surprised that the Canton announcer was mentioned. Paris North Lamar had one of the worst I had heard about four years ago. He actually was ridiculling the referees for their calls and nearly incited a riot at one game. The young man must have been in his teens or early twenties, much too young to be in control of such a vital part of the game.
  12. I think you need to look at the character of the teams here. LE is looking for a win to turn around their season. Apparently they do not have the hosses they had last year. Even if they don't, they still have got to be very good. You do not lose everything in one year after winning the State Championship. On Pittsburg, they have a good team. They have played good teams and they are 4-2. Their two losses came from Carthage and Royse City. Both of these teams will go far, Royse City may win it all. Even though Pitt got thier tails handed to them last week, they have some quality skill players. They are still hungry and they are at home. It's all on the line, district play begins, coaching is great on both sides, Pitt needs to show that RC was not 41 points better, LE is the defending DI Class 3A State Champion! That being said I will go with Pitt in a wild one. Pitt 40 LE 38 :o
  13. Don't get down on the Pirates. Royse City is a great football team. Pittsburg drove on the Bulldogs defense and scored with authority. The Pirates are certainly CONTENDERS! Royse City has been only one or two games away from a State Championship for the past few years now. The Pirates have certainly improved over last years team and I really feel they will be serious CONTENDERS in this year's playoff race. The freshman quarterback, Manley I believe was his name, is a great player for his age. I believe he will compare to Middlebrooks from LE by the time he is a junior or senior. Pittsburg had 21 underclassmen (fresh, soph and juniors) playing last night. That to me, spells a bright future.
  14. Could have been more. Pittsburg plays well though and they play tough. Good defensive front.
  15. The Bulldogs fumble recovery on the opening kickoff and Royse City being able to contain Brown and Wright were just to much for Pittsburg. The Bulldogs special teams played well, but the Bulldog secondary and defense in general stepped up again. I hope that Pitt bounces back from this loss. They have a good team and I was impressed with thier defensive front. Playing both ways and trying to pass on the Bulldogs secondary also proved futal. Also trying to defend against the Bulldogs receivers is asking for too much.
  16. This match-up is building every day. I hope everyone can at least find a place to sit and enjoy the game. Royse City has outgrown their football stadium tremendously. You might squeeze 4000 into the stands, but more like a comfortable 3500 seat football stadium. One year from now Royse City will solve that problem with a new $17 million dollar, 6000 seat stadium and sports facility. As for this Friday night, this could be a classic match up or a run away. If Pittsburg beats Royse City, it would be a huge upset. I believe the wheels would have to come completely off of Royse City to lose this game. Nothing against Pittsburg, I am completely aware that they are a much improved team over last year and their 4-1 record with thier latest win over Paris is impressive. Pittsburg does have some very talented players...Wright, Brown, Farmer, etc. Well so much for talk, time for kickoff and get this thing settled.
  17. Well somewhat close. You don't want to set to close to Webb. He has these fits during every game. He is very quiet, then he gets excited, then he yells, cusses somebody, then sets back and becomes quiet again. Sort of like Torrett Syndrome, but much worse. From a distance I did catch Buckeye80 squinting, squirming and the gradually scooting away from Webb. One thing about Webb, he is a black and gold blooded Bulldog.
  18. Well, they must have arrived. It looks like your from Gilmore...I mean Gilmer and I met one of your fans at the Royse City vs. Sanger game a couple of weeks ago. Very nice young man and very supportive of his hometown. I think a lot of people are spelling Royse City and Gilmer corrrectly these days. Good luck, maybe we will meet in a few weeks.
  19. One of three places would be good. Daingerfield because of their winning tradition and past championships. Daingerfield is in the heart of Texas High School Football. They are down some this year but they will come back. Just to play against Daingerfield, especially in the playoffs is a great experience. Royse City, if they are considered East Texas, kind of on the edge. Why, because they have been proving themselves for 10 years now. Before that they were always known as a pretty good school to compete. But now, they are very good and they are on thier way to 4A. In all of their years they have adjusted well to changing classifications. Great coaching staff there now. Thier facilities, school, new football stadium being built...all first class. Tatum, because they also have a great tradition of winning. They never give up,even against Gilmer earlier. Even though Gilmer just completley beat the you know what out of them, they still kept coming back. They are just that kind of team with that kind of attitude. If you are successful at Tatum you can go anywhere you want.
  20. The Vandals' have Jermie and Brownsboro has John Settle. Have to give the edge to John Settle and his Bears. By the way, John Settle is the head coach at Brownsboro. Coach Settle wins big games. This is a big game and should be a good one. Prediction????.....Bears 36 Vandals 26
  21. My instincts are that Royse City will make a statement before District play begins. I have been saying Royse City 40 Pittsburg 14 all along. Being this is Bulldog homecoming and Royse City is rested and ready for some action, I change my prediction..... :coolio: .....Royse City 56 Pittsburg 8. And yes, those Pittsburg hot links are the best. :pirate: However, I believe it will be Bulldog football that will be smokin' this Friday night. Good Luck Pittsburg and good luck to the Royse City Bulldogs as well!
  22. ...Your welcome?.... :coolio:
  23. Must have been a great game. Congratulations on the win. Next up...Royse City.
  24. Just how good are Kendall Wright, Carlos Brown, Nick Jackson and Mark Farmer? From the write-ups, they seem to all be D-I athletes. Especially Brown and Wright seem to be the studs on both sides of the ball. What classification are these players...freshmen, soph., junior, seniors? What type of offense do the Pirates run? What does it take to beat them? A lot of questions. I 'm sure somebody will give us thier strengths and their weaknesses. This should be a good game. It is Royse City's homecoming and Coach Webb likes to bring in good competition for the homecoming games. I have to base my prediction on what I read and what I see. I have seen Royse City and they are very good. They have athletes and a bunch of them. Not many have to go two ways, as a matter of fact I cannot think of maybe one or two that play offense and defense. The Bulldog defense will knock the snot of you. The Bulldog offense will simply outrun, out-throw and out-block you for a full four quarters. I realize and know Pittsburg will and can do the same. From what I read about Pittsburg, they have several two way players and those are studs on offense as well. They sound like a good passing team but a much better rushing team. Again, based on what I have seen and what I have heard, I will stick with my prediction of Royse City 40 Pittsburg 14. Why, because Royse City has no problem playing a full four quarters and it seems that Pittsburg may be dragging a little by the end of the third. Also Royse City's receivers cannot be double covered, if you do, another great receiver will beat you. I am excited about seeing two great quarterbacks on the field Friday night. Royse City's Morrison and Pittsburg's Wright will be a very good matchup. Royse City is also very accustomed to East Texas football. At least half of thier coaching staff began thier careers in that area.
