  1. I agree....would be a great matchup and a perfect midpoint. The Hawks and the Cadets! Hope it happens!
  2. Remember the game and the playoff atmosphere surrounding two great football teams. We hope y'all come back many more times. Awesome fans!
  3. You do bring up a great point! Bucees opened this Spring and is in full operational mode. Cheap gas, great BBQ, iced drinks and some great coffee and right next door to the football stadium!
  4. Yes, we've been talking and hopefully it will develop. Had a solid double header Friday, but things happened.
  5. Thank you, we've made improvements. Larger video board, more graphics, upgrades in the pressbox, new turf, enlarged visitors lockers and an awesome stadium manager that caters to the student athletes as well as the best playoff experience possible.
  6. Gladewater....didn't y'all have a defensive lineman that was a pure stud?
  7. No, just do this every year. Texas High School Football needs support. This is something we do and we think we do it pretty well.
  8. Sorry to not be so in tune to the playoff needs of the DFW and East Texas high school football teams this year. However, I have been very interested in the season that our Royse City Bulldogs (9-3) have had this year. The season ended with facing a team out of Aledo, Texas. You all may have heard of them. We were beaten pretty bad on the scoreboard and that is where you have to win, but we are still proud of a great season and hopefully we will begin our road back to post season play for years to come. Come on Coaches, if you want convenience, want a playoff atmosphere, want professional, yet homespun Texas High School greatness, schedule your playoffs at RCISD Stadium. We love hosting the games for the kids. Just so happened that the double header we had scheduled for the day after Thanksgiving fell through because the results did not line up with the plans. It happens... Call Michael at 214-499-5391 to schedule.
  9. Because of a couple of unexpected losses, Royse City ISD Stadium is available for any playoff situation for any class. 214-499-5391 is the Royse City ISD Stadium Manager cell phone number. Just relaying information to show your players a really memorable playoff experience. Good Luck to all!
  10. Real possibility that the Royse City Bulldogs will take second place in District 8-5A DII. Denton Braswell 'possibly' third in District 7 and it would be the Bulldogs vs. the Bengals at Royse City ISD Stadium (aka Donaghue Ford Field @ Royse City ISD Stadium) (aka also as The Gateway to the East Texas Playoffs!). Sounds like a very interesting matchup. Braswell Coach Cody Moore got a pretty good start Coaching at Royse City for several years under the tutelage of, now Rockwall Coach Rodney Webb. Moore also with Webb at Mesquite Horn and Rockwall before getting the opportunity, four years ago, to start up the football program at the new school, Denton Braswell. Brilliant Offensive mind and scouting genius. He will soon be in the same category as the Sam Harrells, Rodney Webbs, G.A. Moores, Phil Danahers, etc., of Texas High School Football. He really is that good. I always have someone questioning my acknowledgement of Coach Moore, but I've grown to know many Coaches and AD's over the years and his methodology and common approach to training young men to play this game is phenomenal. There's a reason for State Championship Coach and Athletic director Joey Florence to hire Coach Moore to lead a new program at Denton ISD.
  11. I know it probably will not happen, but would love to host the PG vs. Pitt Quarterfinal next week. Really enjoy the two school districts and their fans. They like to visit and talk high school football and they like our cooking! LOL! Good luck to you both! Hope that everyone arrived hope safe from a night of rain, lightning delay, after delay after delay and then capped off by a tornado warning. Your safety was out biggest concern. We truly hope you understand how much we care. Thank you all again...Good Luck!
  12. Could be exactly how you say. Cannot blame those boys wanting to play at AT&T and The Star. I'm not that sold on Allen, it's novelty status has used itself up to me. Still an awesome place to play, if it is your first experience. I watched a few games at Allen, I just felt swallowed up and the fans spread out so much that they did not offer the support the kids deserve. That's me, because I have enjoyed my three sons all having the playoff experience. One even was a game away from a State Championship appearance. I always was impressed with fan and parental support. They all enjoy it when we are a community of Champions.
  13. Quoting the illustrious Sportswriter for all seasons, Blackie Sherrod; "Scattershooting while wondering the two coaches conversation when they were deciding where to play this game? Well, since your close to Houston and multiple huge stadiums, not really far from Kyle Field and the Marshall coach is not far from Rose, and there is SFA .... heck, let's go to Frisco"! Seriously though, Frisco is a good choice. Long drive there for both, but the drive home for one is going to be torture. Don't know much about either one. Marshall has a Pedigree for State Championships, but the present coach at Huntsville has a Pedigree for the same, plus a very hot team this year. I'm hearing so much about this Huntsville defense and since so many teams don't play defense anymore, it is the missing link on Championship quality teams. Huntsville 35 Marshall 21
  14. PG has a great, young team. Watched them last week. I don't know much about Gilmer this year. Their tradition has them playing pretty good. I know they are not having quite the success they normally have, but hey they have already played two extra games this year. I really like PG and what they can do. Speed, defense and experience from last year's Awesome team! I think PG could win it all for the next three years. PG 31 Gilmer 13. Gilmer, don't get mad. I have been known to miss a prediction or two from time to time...LOL! Seriously though, the Hawks are looking good.
  15. Just following a predictable path of playoff patterns that the Buckeyes have followed for years. They like to play in huge stadiums in the playoffs. Just their personality, I guess. I am not the coach, because, I ain't no coach and don't want to be, but If I were, I would prefer a stadium that was closer. Out of that terrible traffic. Much, much cheaper. Bring my fans all together, so they make a ton of noise that can be heard. Those big stadiums are like yelling at the bottom of the Grand Canyon! Nobody can hear you. I remember one year, Gilmer played at SMU and the town looked like they stayed home. They played Celina... I think? I went and got caught in traffic and got there at the end of the first quarter. I counted and Gilmer had a little over 800 fans there. I don't know why there were so few, other than the traffic problem. Ever since then and before, I always noticed the Buckeyes like the biggest stadiums.
  16. Saw Lorena, LE, PG and Connally. Best teams were, of course, the winners. Lorena vs. PG would be an excellent State Championship game, but they play each other before then, so that ain't happening. This week I think #6 for Pittsburg has a good game against Lorena, BUT...Lorena's team speed is mo' betta'. Actually, Pittsburg looks like a steady, tough team that will flat out run over you. If it is close in the fourth quarter, when players are hot, tired and probably gonna make a mistake. then Pittsburg could cause the most damage. However, if that Lorena speed gets going early and Lina is hitting his many targets, then the Leopards could run away with this one. I'm going to predict something in the middle and say Lorena 37 Pittsburg 21. '
  17. First time these two schools have met since 1949. There was a scrimmage in 1956 when Garland won the State Championship. Who wins, Bulldogs lost their season opener last week vs. Frisco Centennial. Frisco Centennial took advantage of great game control and controlled the ball for the entire fourth quarter.
  18. The Browns might score on a 1A sub varsity Texas team...maybe.
  19. Newton vs Gunter was a case of speed and aggressive play against discipline and courage. This time the Eagles clawed the Tigers into submission. I thought it would be hard to run against Gunter, but Newton was just too physical and their speed was just overwhelming. I can see a 2018 rematch.
  20. Micotrav’s Predictions; For What it’s worth.... Allen vs Lake Travis- Lake Travis by 6 Waco Midway vs Cy-Fair- Midway by 7 Manvel vs Highland Park- Highland Park by 14 Aledo vs College Station- Aledo by 17 Carthage vs Kennedale- Kennedale by 5 Pleasant Grove vs West Orange Stark- Pleasant Grove by 8 3A Division 1- Brock vs Rockdale- Brock by 10 (Rockdale wins State 45-29) 3A Division 2- Newton vs Gunter- Gunter by 17 Refugio vs Mart - Refugio by 9 (Mart wins State 34-21) Muenster vs Teneha- Muenster by 2 (Muenster wins State 27-20) 1A- I don't know- Strawn and Balmorhea
  21. Congratulations to a very determined Muenster football team. Also to Tenaha for maintaining a number one ranking all season, it is a shame they lost in the State Championship game, but it is a very tough thing to go 16-0. Tenaha had an awesome team, with speed and athletes galore! It was an absolute time of possession work of art. Muenster with nearly 30 minutes to 18 control. Muenster defense was awesome as well, you just don't contain Tenaha's speed and athletes unless you are almost flawless. Great tackling ability and all hats were on the ball. Three State Titles in three different sports is unheard of and I'm glad it was a small school that accomplished the feat. It is much harder to me, to be able to have that much talent is that small of a school. Big schools and pick and choose, but a couple of these boys played and have multiple rings for State Championships. That is going to be some big bragging rights for a lifetime. Congrats to both teams!
  22. I’ve heard the Defending State Champion Gunter Tigers could very well be 48-0 at the end of 2018. They are a tremendous football club. I picked them as 17 point favorites over Newton and Newton is a really good football club as well! Hate to see one lose. Gunter 34 Newton 17 And that is my most uneducated, unrealistic, non factual, pulled out of the thin air pick of the year! But it came to me in a dream.
  23. Micotrav’s Predictions; For What it’s worth.... Allen vs Lake Travis- Lake Travis by 6 Waco Midway vs Cy-Fair- Midway by 7 Manvel vs Highland Park- Highland Park by 14 Aledo vs College Station- Aledo by 17 Carthage vs Kennedale- Kennedale by 5 Pleasant Grove vs West Orange Stark- Pleasant Grove by 8 Brock vs Rockdale- Brock by 10- Rockdale Wins State in a big and emotional win! Newton vs Gunter- Gunter by 17- Newton in a landslide 40-16! Gunter was just too beat up by the 4th quarter! Refugio vs Mart - Refugio by 9 Mart Wins! Muenster vs Teneha- Muenster by 2 (Muenster wins State 27-20) I don’t think I should ever gamble! I’m terrible at picking these championships! My record so far is 1-4!
  24. Two great teams will meet this week, both are ferocious and neither is meek; The Eagles have been there and done that for sure, but the Tigers are about to show up to their second consecutive tour; Can the Eagles fly high enough to escape that Gunter D or will the Tigers prowl with precision, I guess we will have to see; After all it is the State Championship that is at stake, both teams must play their best and never take their foot off of the brake; This game is just like so many being played at AT&T, however this is the one that I prefer to see; I am just a football fan and like you I cannot wait until every fall, but until next year, Merry Christmas to everyone and Happy New Year to Y'all!
