  1. Punt was kicked into the rear of the upback. The punter picked it up , rolled and passed downfield where there was a great sideline catch. The ball was snapped at the defense 44 and the farthest any linemen went was to the 43 so no foul for ineligible downfield.
  2. For someone who was at the game...I have heard and read about a missed extra point (perhaps early in the game) where the kick was almost returned for a score. Did anything like that happen and of so, can you provide some details?
  3. Great video to highlight how we all "see" differently. I do not see a helmet to helmet hit. It looks like a shoulder to helmet but I am not even sure about that from this angle.
  4. Sites were announced back in June UIL Announces Sites
  5. I'm sure the UIL will have that fixed this week...... :smirk:
  6. We have analyzed this stupid "play" frame by frame. It does not matter where his feet were. If his body breaks the plane of a line drawn through the snapper's waistline, he is in an illegal position as a "back". The "play" involved the coach screaming at the QB that the ref did not mark off enough yards. This "play" was run immmediately after an offside penalty against the defense. The QB yelled at the snapper to give him the ball as he need to give it to the ref. The snapper gave him the ball and he started walking. This is patently unsportsmanlike conduct and all refs working under NCAA rules have been instructed to flag it and similar plays as unsportsmanlike conduct. Had there been no verbal exchange between coach and sideline and had QB simply told the snapper "give me the ball" followed by snapper flipping it back to the QB (assuming QB was in legal position). Legal play
  7. Illegal snap as ball was held up momentarily by center before QB took it. Illegal formation as QB was in between center and guard at the moment the snap started. Unsportsmanlike conduct for using equipment (the ball) to deceive and make it appear the snap was not imminent.
  8. Multiple fouls (none flagged) on the play. The young officials got snookered here and let this go. Don't try it on the varsity field.
  9. So the only day "East Texans" can see tis game is on Thursday?
  10. There are no stadiums in Tyler that would work? And there are games all day on Saturday at Lobo???
  11. #1 reason why folks leave officiating is treatment by fans and coaches on the field.
  12. Just to be clear...this game was in NC where they use different rules than we use here. The play would have been legal here.
  13. What sport do you work? Speaking for FB, TASO turns out great officials. Every one of them? No, but nobody can do thayt. Do you have any idea how many Tecas HS officials have gone to the college ranks and on to NFL? I moved d.d yrs ago to the east coast. I contacted several small collegecongerences there about working in thyem. Several did not even want to see me work first. The fact I was a tx hs official was enough for them. That is the reputatiojn we have.
  14. UIL backed off on the Oct 13 deadline (for volleyball) and there is now a hearing (in Fed court) scheduled for Oct 20. If TASO prevails in the hearing , a preliminary injunction will be issued putting the reigns on UIL for now.
  15. Just received from our Dist Director: TASO Update 10/13/2010 Most of you are aware that TASO represents sports other than football. Currently we have two sports that are “deep” into their seasons, football and volleyball. Both sports are quickly approaching their playoff seasons. Usually, we are all excited and focused on the playoffs. This year we have a legitimate distraction facing us with the deadline on November 1 to register with the UIL. Why they picked this date and not after the seasons is still a mystery to me. Additionally, the UIL changed the deadline for volleyball to October 13 at 5 pm, another mystery. TASO believes it would be best for all involved to postpone registration until January 1 but the UIL has held firm with the dates stated above. Today TASO had a Temporary Restraining Order hearing set for state court but the UIL request and was granted to move the case to Federal Court. So, today there will be a hearing in federal court on TASO’s application for a temporary restraining order preventing the UIL from imposing their October 13th deadline for volleyball officials. If successful, we assume they will also ask for restraining order for the November 1 deadline for football. In the meantime, there is no benefit to registering before the court hears our TRO application, therefore TASO recommends you wait to register until further word comes out. On another issue TASO football is in the mists of an election for the leadership going forward. Each candidate has published information on themselves. Hopefully, you can come to a decision on your vote from that information. If you have any questions, I am available to help with your questions . Please remember that in the past this election was held at the state convention and only attending members to the general meeting were allowed to vote. Bill Fecci has always felt this was not fair to the members that could not attend. He has worked HARD to change this resulting in this year’s voting available to ALL members via online voting. Please cast your vote and be heard by going to the TASO website. It is not a good situation to have leaders elected by a few interested groups. VOTE – deadline is Monday October 18, 5:00 pm.
  16. And you have an unbiased viewpoint in this mess????
  17. Did you happen to see the memo your UIL sent to the coaches today? If not i am sure you can get your hands on it. They specifically tell the coaches in there that officials can still register AFTER Nov 1.
  18. Just like his claim that the UIL has observers right now evaluating football officials, this is something else he is either making up or listening to someone "in the know" who is mnisleading him
  19. UIL does not even mention this on their website yet we are just to take your word for it that it is happening? Furthermore, how in the world can current TASO officials on the field officials be involved in evaluating other ones? You don't see the conflict there?
  20. Who are the UIL football observers and what are their qualifications?
  21. And just what are these mysterious new "tools" that are in place? The only "tool" I have seen is the fellow the UIL has for some unknown reason selected to be their "leader" in officiating. Talking about someone being selected for something that he is totally unprepared for!!!!!
  22. If the Chapter (non of which I am aware of have an actual valid internal evaluation system in place) is deciding what names they will give to UIL what makes you think they will not give the same names of the guys they apparently (in your mind) send to do games now unprepared? What I asked if you had seen was the form the UIL is directing Chapters complete. They want people who are not in the "top 25%" (good luck trying to determine who IS in that top 25%) but who fit other criteria. Those folks may well be chosen by UIL to work the game you say they are unprepared for.
  23. Incorrect. No way are they going to cut their throats and not let people register after that date when we all know every sport (even those starting later in the year) needs officials
