    Good stuff.

I wouldn't be shocked to see THS go 4-0.  But 3-1 seems plausible with such a killer schedule.  TBH tho...I think Fayetteville is going to be the toughest...even though Liberty Christian won state too.  I'm just not sold that even a really good small TAPPS schools will hang with the Tigers.  I'm not sure about Arkansas HSFB either...but I think it's better than TAPPS.

I'll be thrilled with 3-1 if that's how Marshall finishes.  But I'm pretty sure they will be underdogs Vs. Tyler, Longview.....and MAYBE even Legacy.  I know enrollment doesn't mean everything....but at the end of the day Lgv and Legacy are 6A schools that are significantly bigger.  Tyler too for that matter even though they are 5AD1.  (3-1) would be sweet.  But (1-3) isn't completely out of the question.

i was at the tyler high game. there was absolutely no reason as to why Marshall didn't win that game.

i think that left a sour taste in their mouths. i think they return the favor.  the Tyler Legacy scrimmage was chippy as well towards the end. i believe they can and probably beat them as well.  Longview is always Longview that's a monster hill to climb. the Palestine Game will be interesting with new head Coach james  Reyes  on the sidelines against his Alma Mater.  Palestine mirrors Nacogdoches great athletes but struggles with consistency. that could go either way.

Longview has 4 consecutive weeks of HUGE matchups this fall.

Week 3 - vs South Oak Cliff (the big one that everyone is talking about)

Week 4 - vs Ruston, LA (this game, not enough people are talking about it. Ruston won the Louisiana 5A state championship last year and was in the state title game a year before. HC Jerrod Baugh use to be OC under King at Longview).

Week 6 - vs Rockwall (11-2 last year)

    Week 7- @ Forney (13-2 last year)

That's a tough 4 game stretch. Thank goodness for the BYE in Week 5.

A tricky Week 1 game down in Lufkin, so should be a fun schedule.

you never truly know how a lufkin longview game will turn out so that does intrigue me.

i plan on being there when the lobos take on SOC.

im sorry no disrespect to Ruston but i don't feel anything from this game. i believe Longview will win this one and i wouldn't be shocked if it was a blowout.

  3. Texas High (11-2)

@ Lufkin (5-5)LOSS Nac hasn't beaten Lufkin since 2014 matter in fact the last three wins against them have been in Nac we haven't beaten Lufkin there since 82 and it won't happen this year.
Vs. Livingston (2-9) WIN not any history with the Lions this is strictly a homer pick
@ Bryan Rudder (3-7)LOSS not much History with Rudder either. We played them during the pandemic and lost a close one. it was at their place too, Nac has a history of struggling on the road. i see them dropping this one.

we go into district play 2-2

    @ Center (7-4) LOSS

    15-5A BASEBALL STANDINGS
    Whitehouse 9-1
    Hallsville 8-2
    Mount Pleasant 6-4
    Texas HIgh 6-4
    Marshall 5-5
    Longview 4-6
    Pine Tree 2-8
    Tyler 0-10

    Game 10
    Whitehouse beat Mount Pleasant 6-0
    Hallsville beat Longview 6-1
    Texas High beat Marshall 6-2
    Pine Tree beat Tyler 5-0

MP couldn't pull another rabbit out of their hat against WH as the Wildcats shut the Tigers down in a 6-0 game.  WH remains all alone in first place with the win while MP falls into a third place tie with THS.  Hallsville also made quick work of Longview to remain only 1 game behind WH as they are all alone in second place.  Marshall fell to THS, splitting their season series...but more importantly it dropped them to fifth place and currently out of the playoff race.  Pine Tree assured themselves they will not finish in the cellar with a win over Tyler.

    TUESDAY'S GAMES
Texas High Vs. Whitehouse-  Another big game.  WH looking to stay in first.  THS looking to keep their thin lead over
Marshall for the final playoff berth.

Tyler Vs. Hallsville- Bobcats looking to remain just one game behind WH.

Marshall Vs. Longview-  This is a must win for Marshall if they play to keep pace with THS for the final playoff berth.  A loss would be devastating to their post season hopes.  Lobos are still alive too...barely.  A win would keep them in the race.

Mount Pleasant Vs. Pine Tree-  MP needs a win to keep themselves in control of their playoff hopes.  A loss to PT could throw them into a wild three way tie with THS and Marshall.

    ---------------------------------------

    15-5A SOFTBALL STANDINGS
    Whitehouse 11-1
    Mount Pleasant 10-2
    Hallsville 9-3
    Texas High 8-4
    Pine Tree 6-6
    Marshall 2-10
    Longview 1-11
    Tyler 0-12

    Game 12
    Whitehouse beat Mt Pleasant 9-0
    Hallsville beat Longview 13-3
    Texas High beat Marshall 14-2
    Pine Tree beat Tyler 16-0

WH took sole possession of first place with a big win over MP to break the tie for the district lead.  Lady Tigers settle into second place with third place Hallsville lurking just one game behind them.  Texas High appears to be firmly in control of the #4 seed with a 2 game lead over PT with 2 games left.  Marshall, Longview, and Tyler round out the standings.

questionable calls in the Marshall T-high game.

You are correct......  there should be consequences and there were consequences.

My only argument was that I don't agree that they deserve "attempted murder" charges.

Heck the guy who shot coach Kinne in Canton didn't get attempted murder charges but these kids should?

someome fill me in on that story.

yall are scrimmaging  Texas High ?

Matt stepp posted a mock 7A alignment last week....interesting stuff.  I'm not going to list his proposed districts since it's premium content....but lots of random thoughts about it and how it affects East Texas, specifically 5A.

    1.  No 7A teams in ETX.  Not even Legacy would make the cut.

    2. 6A...... Seeing Longview, Legacy, and Tyler in a East DFW district shocks no one..and it's with schools none of them are strangers to.  Longview will dominate that district more often than not.  Lufkin goes south to the Golden Triangle/NE Houston area....tough draw for LP.

    3.  5A Div I..... Texas High and Nac bump up to Div I.  Texarkana finds themselves in a similar travel situation as they had when they were last in Div I.... all DFW.  Some long drives to Dallas, south of Dallas, and the eastern portions of the metroplex.  THS would continue to dominate that district like they have their current district.  Gotta feel bad for Nac.... some long drives to places like Huntsville and Baytown...but some stiff competition for huntsville and several other annual playoff teams.

    4.  5A Div II sees the biggest shake up.  With Texarkana and Nac gone to Div I..... we see a split amongst those left in Div II.  The I-30 schools get grouped together with MP and SS going to the northern metroplex, reuniting with some old foes.  Meanwhile Marshall and Hallsville see PT move back up to 5A along with Lindale.   MP becomes an immediate playoff threat in their new district.  Marshall, Whitehouse, and Lindale look to battle for the district title more often than not...and PT has proven to be a contender of late too.

    ----------

TBH..... looking at it all..... I think most ETX schools would be happy with this alignment with the exceptions being Texas High and Nac because of travel.  I think Longview, Tyler, and Legacy would be pleased.  I think MP, Marshall, WH, and others are probably happy too.  LP is iffy.... that's a tough district...but it's better than being in the DFW.....

    Interesting stuff......

Of course....all of this is about football only.  The question is...... do we ever see split divisions in other sports?  Or would we see 7A in all sports instead?

ohhh wow. that would definitely be interesting. it's amazing that they haven't sent Nac down south for football yet but have done it for the other sports.

But earlier you said Attempted Murder and wanted him prosecuted.

I will agree with you it should be handled as a form of in school punishment but that is a long way from attempted murder...............

i said i would have sued the school and those kids.

That is from ingesting the food and having the throat swell.

If your allergy is that bad you should have a epipen close by just in case you eat the wrong item in the cafeteria.

The kids should have not done what they did but anybody who feels their action was attempted murder does not have a very good grasp on reality.

in my honest opinion they should have been kicked off the team. no excuses there is nothing you can say to justify what they did.

they knew it could harm and possibly kill the kid and they still played with his life anyway.

I believe he will do a good job at Palestine. He will have more overall talent. Lumberton lacks depth. I’ve enjoyed having him for the last 3 years. Hate to see him go, but personally don’t have a dog in the fight no more. They will throw the ball a lot. Short screens, sweeps, and then over the top. Power run game for about 12-15 carries/ game unless defense dictates 20-25 to open things up. I plan to travel now on Fridays to watch the best games in Southeast & East Texas. Might even catch a Palestine game to see what he does with them.

it will take some time but i believe he will get the ship right in palestine. they remind me of Nac.

they have the athletes to compete.  we open the season against them again so it will be interesting. the home team has lost each time.

I've been living in Kilgore for 20 years now and have missed maybe 5 or 6 games total. In the last 20 years, Kilgore has missed the playoffs one time. We are not Longview or Carthage, but it's somewhat remarkable how good a team Kilgore can roll out there year after year after year.

even when i was in high school and we went through realignment and started playing Kilgore they were always good. the offense wasn't flashy or complicated but it was hard to stop. they would basically run the ball down your throat.
