  1. TK is green also. They wore Green Jerseys. Harleton wore white.
  2. Think we watched a different scrimmage! Harleton's 1's went against TK. Joaquin went against Harleton's 2's/JV mix and scored 1 TD in 12 plays
  3. Thought Hughes Springs graduated a lot, something like 18 Srs
  4. My point about basketball was they have had no success and really no excuses for why. He has 30-35 kids that don't do anything other than basketball, they don't play football, lift weights, run track, play baseball etc. All they do is basketball year round and still don't win. Just wondering if the new AD will decide to make a change. Perhaps bring back Loewe. He turned Union Grove around pretty quick
  5. Hallsville had yet another poor season in basketball. New AD going to make changes there?
  6. Smart move, give the fox the keys to the hen house!
  7. Thanks for helping me prove my point, a lot of issues at Hallsville! God forbid the guys do some work to develop better athleticism. Guess you should talk to some college guys about their lifting programs and get back with me
  8. Pretty much spot on. Coach Plunk is the winningest coach in the history of Hallsville with a 40% win record (averaged out to a 4-6 record every year). I've seen them several times over the past few years and like you said they sporadically have an athlete here and there but not enough. Plunk did the best he could with what he had. Also, way too many internal issues to overcome. When everyone is not on board & working behind the scenes to sabotage the head coach, it won't happen. From what I know about Drennon is he's a good ole boy that isn't going to go kiss the butts of the big shots, which is why he probably didn't "fit in"
  9. Ever had any dealings with addicts or alcoholics? They never think they are the problem. It's always someone else's fault. Coach Plunk was not the problem. Coach Drennon was not the problem. A LOT of issues and obstacles in Hallsville
  10. top right corner, should be a picture of an envelope. click on that and it takes you to messages
  11. Destroy, check your messages.
  12. I'm not a fan of committee's in general. Should be the Supt. alone. But that's what everyone has gone to. If it's gonna be a committee it should not include community members.
  13. Not necessarily a question but you need to know that you're gonna be able to do your job. Admin is gonna support you & give you what you need to be successful. No point in taking the job if you're being set up for failure
  14. 100% correct, and of the 2 choices- pick the young guy that is hungry to win not the old guy just trying to get a few extra years of AD salary to boost his retirement.
  15. Part B which was a part of my original statement: he's up in the years. How long do you really think he'll be there? Is he just trying to get a few more years of AD salary to set up his retirement? All things considered for long term success, find a guy that WANTS to be in Harleton for an extended period of time. Consistency is a big deal for long term success.
  16. I know Sartain, he's a good guy so im not going to talk bad about him but simply state facts. And like Parcels said "you are what your record says you are" 16 yrs as a HC in high school. 71 wins. I'm not great at math but that averages out to 4 wins per yr. 3 playoff appearances with 1 win in 16 yrs. Coaching in college where you can recruit is very different than high school where you have to build with what you have. Still went 26-34 at ETBU with zero winning seasons in 6 yrs.
  17. Refer to my prior post about an old guy with a losing record!
  18. I think you missed my point, a guy that's been a HC for 15 yrs and won 60 games is not successful. That averages out to a 4-6 record. And either an old guy that's going to be there a few yrs and retire or a young guy that's going to be there a few yrs then move up, both are not good for long term success. The school will be hiring a new AD and probably new assistants every few yrs. Schools that do that don't have continued/long term success.
  19. Always amazes me a guy will get a job and you look at his record, been a HC for 15-17 yrs and has 60-70 or so wins. That's about 4 wins per yr. Not impressive, but he's got experience (losing)!
  20. Don't hire an old guy that's just gonna be there a few yrs. Don't hire a young guy that just looking to use it as a stepping stone to get to a bigger job. Find a guy that #1 has proven he can turn around a program, even if he was a coordinator. #2 find a guy that wants to be in Harleton for an extended period, consistancy is a big deal for long term success
  21. Still not posted on THSCA job board. Could be wrong but that usually means it's a done deal, just waiting on 10 day mandatory posting.
  22. 90% of the time it's a done deal, they hire someone they know. Also always amazes me the schools recycle coaches that have horrible records but "have experience " 20 years as a head coach with 60-70 wins. Im not great at math but I believe that works out to about 3 wins per year. So they have experience losing! Schools should look more about "fit". Who fits our program? Also if it's a turnaround, find a coach that has experience turning around programs
