  1. ...i can promise you we're not the same person....but you're right about the Spring Hill Panthers..we're from the same area of Longview.....
  2. ....i work from computer- I just couldn't help responding to a smart remark........
  3. north of Longview and I work for a living so I dont' get to spend all day on the internet....
  4. I saw where Bo Talkington is taking over Overton....is this the same Talkington that did so well at Overton during the 80's? Then came back again in the 90's?
  5. Being on the other sidelines I have to give a vote for the 'Eyes' black/orange....doesn't hurt they march out to their own rap song and those huge kids dont' hurt the intimidation factor at all!
  6. Congratulations to Chase, Jackson, Wesley, and all the 'Necks- it's been a privilige to watch you even from the "other" side.
  7. YES- it is ONLY a hit when it preceeds the error in the play. Error ocurrs after the "hit" and usually is a throwing error(usually throwing to the wrong base trying to catch runner stretching the play another base or going home, etc).
  8. We drove over last night to watch the PG/Kennedale ballgame; the 1st thing we noticed was how PG runs on and off the field. After their at-bat the PG players RAN onto the field and were in position before Kennedale got to the dugout-this happened every inning! No wasted time waiting for cather to get gear on, (they had an extra kid in gear in dugout entire game)so in every inning the pitcher started throwing as soon as he ran to the mound. Same kid every inning RAN out with team and warmed up outfields, brought in the outfield ball, and recieved the infield ball as he ran to the dugout...EVERYTIME. Same thing coming off the field the team ran to the dugout.......... I can't say PG is the best 3A team in Texas...Bridge City, Orangfield, Robinson,Etc will have a say, but Pleasant Grove is very well coached, very well disciplined team, and very stringent in what they do on the field and that starts in practice-and starts with the coach. impressive PG-I know your fans are proud. 9. I've heard from more than one informed source(coaching friends) that sometimes politics and favoritism happens, not always, but, it does. Any anyone who follows a district very closely comes away a lot scratching their heads over the years. No different this year in 17AAA baseball....no dis-respect to those who made 1st team as there were a lot of deserving kids, there was also some you wonder where it came from if you know the stats and watched all year.....
  10. I don't think fans have any votes, just coaches . I'd heard it was strictly coaches and that's where the politics/favorites come in when kids make it over more deserving........but that's my opinion.. I agree the SH/Bennett pitcher deserved better, i'm sure other kids in district did also....
  11. I thought WO/Corrigan Camden played at Angelina college on Thursday night??
  12. If Evans was a .150 hitter I "might" call it a lucky swing. Since he's been one of the better hitters in East Texas, not just 2A, has a lot sof RBI's, some HR's, I tend to think it wasn't a lucky swing but more a mistake pitch....like down the middle. HR's aren't mistakes or lucky breaks for the batter, they are either mistake fatballs, hanging curves, or bad change ups thrown by the pitcher because he's behind in the count-or the hitter is good and strong enough to hit a bad pitch out of the park. Either way.....luck has nothing to do with it.
  13. My only argument(and may not be legit) is the 1-game even your stud pitcher can have an off day. Best 2 of 3 "seems" to me the best indicator. My friend argues "then why not in football"? Well, football and baseball are two completely different sports played in completely different ways. Just like in college and pro baseball-your trying to determine the "best" team. Just my opinion.
  14. When I saw Robinson vs Carthage in 1-game playoff I was shocked; if your the #1 team in the state and 27-2 why would you take a chance with 1 game playoff? anything can happen. And as someone who can testify- Carthage brought in a very good coach last year to continue the strong program, and he has. Last season the Carthage coach took a very good baseball team and beat a much more talented Spring Hill team for the Region 3 title because he knows his players, gets them to play hard, uses all of their abilities, and is a good tactician; he puts them in situations to excel....and if I was Robinson fans, I'd be very nervous!!!
  15. How did the PT Bond issue turn into a re-drawing of district school lines involving LISD-HISD-PTISD-WO-and MISD? Nevermind... My question- PT's football "field" appears to be in great shape-is there no option to tear down the exsting home stands and replace and couldn't that have been quicker? I know sometimes it's more cost efficient to "replace completely" than renovate, but, if you're tight for money you have to do with what you can afford or in this case what the people are will to spend.
  16. Many thanks to all the SH boys for a fine season, and a special thank you to the seniors. I've had opporutnity to watch them over the years and get to know a couple of them. I was stunned to see SH coach bench one of his team leaders in the name of "sparking" the team-and yes the kid had struggled lately(so had many others, but some will never come out of game no matter what). If there's any criticsim I have of the SH coach, it's the same thing I've heard the past few years from several parents, including some players, doesn't communicate well, not much of tatician, and isn't a good hitting coach. I thought SH would be much better than when I saw them at start of season, and they just didn't improve hitting thru the season as a team. Pulling your RBI leader in a playoff series just didn't make sense to me,evenif he isn't stuggling, and those I attended the game with agreed. Couple of dads I talked to indicated they had found the flaw in the kids swing on film(something about stance), and it had been relayed to the coach to no avail. Best of fortune to these young men, you wore the SH with honor and served your school well. May God bless you mightily in whatever you do.
  17. I was reading all the posts, when I read(3-4 notes back) about running stadium North-South I thought "I hope they don't face home towards the west"...Spring Hill's football stadium runs N-S, and home side faces the west. It's horrible watching a game while shading your eyes from the sun, not to mention burning up in August and early Sepetember games. I was hoping the SH new high school bond election would move the sides, but, there are issues with expanding the west side stadium seats-we'd lose a lot of parking/drivey thru access to the junior high...which is more important.
  18. I don't think he missed the point-he's point being coaches "play it" differently in warm up games. Your correct, kids on the field are busting their tails to win. happens in football, basketball, etc. no matter whether starters or replacements are in the game, they want to succeed. I think the point being whether Overton, White Oak, or the Longhorns, teams play different without #1 and #2 pitchers and kids in their normal spots. Both coaches wanted the kids to play well, you play like you practice, so you don't want to go into the playoffs on a bad-warm up game. I'd be surprise if Overton coach "played it" like he normally would in the regular/playoff season....both schools hopefully will have a long ride in the playoffs. Best of fortune to them both
  19. In case you haven't heard the miraculous event, Taylor Haney(SH girls athlete) and boyfriend Jordan Price(Diana pitcher) were involved in an accident last night outside Henderson. A truck clipped their vehicle that cause it to flip end-over-end. Both were taken to Longview hospital....and released last night!! Praise the Lord for His protection...truly a blessing.
  20. Any idea when the 17AAA will be posted? What's your thoughts... I can only speak to what I've seen. My thoughts on 1st couple P-Rumbelow-Bullard,Zeilinger-SH definelty get the knod on the mound, Maxey-Tatum and Bennett-SH also have been big for their teams Catcher- Bullards Langston and SH's- Fleet behind plate. Fleet grown into plate manager & throws out runners well 1B:Kid from G'water(I don't know his name) and Bullard at 1st baseman were solid 2B: Oney-SH; has been most consistent fielder, isn't flashy, makes the routine plays, very few errors SS: SH's Brown will be in mix, he's had some issues, but pretty steady. Bullards kid very solid(again, don't remember his name) and he covers lots of area 2nd-3rd 3B: SH's got two, Zelinger and Robbins; Zeilnger is most versatile fielder; has played 1st, SS, and 3rd due to his versatility-could be 1st team at any of these positions, Robbins very solid/smooth. Bullards kid,(again no name memory) has excellent range and arm strength.. OF: Lacy, Moran, Johnson-SH...haven't seen anyone with the speed these 3 have to track down shots. All 3 have gunned down at least 3-4 runners at the plate or base paths. Moran made couple sliding/diving catches, one over the shoulder vs G'water at fence; Johnson tracked down some fly shots, one nearly 40' foul(per Newspaper,at home) and Marshall on dead run at night. Noticed Bullard coach held kid up at 3rd on base hit vs trying Johnson arm, again. Lacy's size fools people, and arm...very strong arm and accurate. Couple teams tested him early in district and were thrown out. OK...next!
  21. I wouldn't put any stock into L-Hudson's loss in a "warm up" game. Those things dont' mean much, and most coaches don't throw their best pitchers more than an inning. Hey Bullard fans-you'll love the setting at NETCC, very very nice set-up. Great seats that are several feet up above the playing field, great view and sight lines from any spot on the field....there's also covered grandstands in case of rain(which we got). For those making the trip stay on Hwy 271 thru G'water, Gilmer, and Pittsburg. Turn east(right) at HWY 11 in Pittsburgh and go 5-7 miles and turn left at FM 1735. NETCC is several miles north on your left-you can't miss it. Get some snacks in Pittsburgh as their concession is almost bare, but a few items left.
