  1. The second two reasons wouldn't exist without the first reason that you stated, happening. So option one! There is your answer. I don't care either. My thread topic might be deceiving of my views because I'm actually glad we're getting out of this poorly ran poop hole of a conference. Just wondered what Longhorn fans on here thought of their leadership. From most of the Alumni that I have spoken to, I live in Longhorn country btw* they are not pleased at all with it.

That first reason you speak of wouldn't have happened if the other nine schools in the Big 12, including OU and aTm, hadn't agreed to allowing Texas to do it in the Big 12. There is your answer. I don't care either, but quit throwing it all on Texas because all of the other 9 teams agreed to it.

All of these are the MAJOR football violations in the past 10 years. I see almost as many Big XII schools on this list

Both conferences had 6 schools listed with one of the being repeat offenders. Of the Big 12's, 1 of them was in a NC in the last 10 years. Of the SEC's, 2 of them won NCs in the last 10 years. I guess the Big 12 schools don't know how to capitalize on the recruiting violations!!!!! Lol

  3. To UT's defense on this one... I believe that is more of a push by ESPN. Without the Horns or their recruits on TV, the network is dead. Seems that ESPN wasted $300m as of right now :)

Seems me and you agree on this. ESPN is pushing the LHN because it spent too much money.

  4. Or we're obsessed with the fact that we'll get more money, better recruits (two have already said they want to come to A&M because of the SEC talk), among other things.

But hey, if your delusions tell you that it's all about Longhorn hate, you can believe them, I guess.

One recruit just decommitted for OK state.

How much does aTm stand to get as the 13th team in the SEC???? It is an unknown. ESPN/ABC sports has already said they probably wouldn't renegotiate the SEC contract with it expiring in 2025(?).

Those aren't delusions. Every argument aTm makes comes back to them agreeing to the LHN in the Big 12, then finding out it was worth so much and not liking it.

  5. Oh, great. Now referencing fish camp or whatever else. THERE are signs of a lost argument. The Ags weren't blindsided by the network. They didn't care. They WERE blindsided by the fact that Texas was going to start showing games of recruits (something that directly violates NCAA rules) and other stuff. And yes, we all know the NCAA put a hex on that. But then Texas started trying to say, "Well we'll only show highlights!" Well, you can show a game minus a handful of plays and call it "highlights". We all know they keep pushing and pushing. Loftin even said, "We weren't prepared for how aggressive they're being with the LHN".

It all comes down to aTm running away from you know who.

First it was the Network showing HS games. NCAA ruled against it. End of story. Then ESPN went to talking about HS highlights...NCAA is still ruling on that one. Doubt it happens. That will be the end of the story.

Have you ever thought that ESPN is the one pushing this network the hardest? They do have $300million on the line. I think the LHN either does one of two things. Forces Independence, which the powers as Texas are against, or the LHN dies/restructures as a Big 12 network.

Aggies biggest problem with the network is that they didn't do it first, Texas beat them to it and it is worth $300million.

  6. Just a side note: sometimes doing what's in your best interest leads to killing the conference... Texas and A&M did what was in their best interest in the 90s and it killed the SWC. Some people can't grip that by looking out for yourself, you might be killing a conference.

Texas is looking out for themselves. A&M is looking out for themselves, partly in response to Texas doing things the way they did. Now OU and OSU are looking out for themselves after what A&M did. End of story.

The only difference is, A&M fans don't keep telling Texas fans how "bad" they will be in 3 years for whatever reason as if that should scare them into not doing it... But whatever.

Like What I say will scare aTm back into the Big 12.....LOL. I just see the writing on the wall for the Aggies. They don't see it because they are so obsessed with anti-Longhorn sentiment that leaving the conference becasue something the Longhorns have done is blinding them. They are still trying to win their first bowl game in several years. In the SEC they will be trying to get to a bowl game every year.

  7. Texas may not have made the LHN "official" when the big decided to stay together, but the knew it was going to happen or they would have left.

And I'm bit blaming Texas solely, I'm just saying Texas is just as much at fault... Your the one acting as if Texas is a golden boy trying to save the conference but everyone else is evil and tryin to ruin it.

The way I see it, this is over. Tamu is going sec, the big will split up and everyone goes where they fit in. Everyone needs to quit pointing fingers and just deal with it. Everyone is at fault.

It was known for 1-2 years the Longhorns were wanting their own network. Dodds even said he pitched it to aTm as a Lonestar Network and it was declined by the Ags. They had known it was going to happen and the other teams in the conference knew of their interest in doing so. So it wasn't like it blindsided the Ags.

I'm not acting about a golden boy, just pony up and take your own bit of the blame. but Freshman Fish Camp has told you otherwise.

Blame it on Texas..... Don't blame it on me. - Mark Chesnutt. He must have been an Aggie.

Compared to who? It seems to me all of college football is corrupt. I would love to see where this thought process comes from...

    Everybody Does it. Sure!!!

  8. I think any conference should be leery of the Longhorns. The #1 reason being that Texas will not stay down forever, and on average they will be a dominate force in any football conference.

Another concern would be that Texas just doesn't get it. The NFL has shown that the strength and fortune of a league is based on how healthy the bottom teams are. Revenue sharing has allowed small market teams to remain relevant in the NFL. The Longhorn Network is a great deal for Texas, but not the Big XII as a whole. The LHN would separate Texas even more from the lower tier schools of the Big XII. Texas should be concerned with the health of whatever conference they end up in. Not because they are good Samaritans, but because it is good business.

Is that why the NFL has just implemented a salary cap that has a minimum roster salary???

  9. I would be PO'ed. I would also be calling for everyone in the SEC's head. The SEC has been extremely fair to all of their members, Including Vandy. There has never been any public bickering about revenue share or competitive imbalances since my love fest with the SEC began. The SEC has established itself into a class of their own in college football. If they would make concessions for 1 school, no matter the size or amount of revenue it would bring in, that each school in the SEC was not capable of doing the same, would be against everything this conference has represented in the past _X_ years.

PO'd? why? It would create a level playing field for teams that have Higher academic standards and tougher admissions in you're conference. It wouldn't allow LSU to recruit guys that can't spell SEC or know the difference between Thomas Jefferson and George Jefferson. That is the reason you would be Po'd correct? I'm for equal revenue sharing, it's only right, just don't tell someone you can do something (LHN) and then cite that as the very reason you are PO'd and leaving. Makes you look like a whiny baby.

So you'd agree to Texas in the SEC with improved academic/admission standards and equal revenue???

  10. So Texas does what's best for them, the LHN, and it's ok but if Tamu OU or OSU leaves the conference because it's best for them then it's not right.

I am not saying Texas is the only school at fault, but accept their part in this please. Even some Texas mods on sites will agree that Texas cannot point fingers at ANYONE for this situation. Texas wasn't willing to save the big 12 last summer UNTIL they got the word the LHN was a go and would be big. Then they decided they wanted to stay because it was 30 mil a year better for THEM to stay in big 12 and have the LHN then go PAC without it.

I can't understand how any longhorn fan can honestly believe they are innocent and the other schools are "overreacting" or "crying." If Texas wants to make a huge deal like the LHN and get all the benefits, then be prepared to accept not everyone loves the idea. If all of your friends are driving a ford focus and CHEVY sponsors you to drive a new camero, do you really expect your friends to not be a little jealous...?

WRong!!!! The Big 12 was renewed as a 10 team conference long before UT and ESPN agreed on the $300million. At the time the conference was renewed was when the conference AGREED to let schools pursue their own sales of the third tier rights.

I'm not crying, just wanting to know why when TExas does something for their best interest it is killing the conference, but when aTm leaves it is just to better themselves. They are the team that put the Big 12 under 10 teams and voided a very good contract. Don't point the fingers at anybody when you are just as much to blame.

  11. Texas cares nothing about the Big XII. Texas only cares about what is in their best interest. Same for OU, OSU, A&M, and Baylor. Save yourself and your money or share it with your brothers? If option 2 is the answer Texas is choosing now, they are a year or 2 too late.

Texas is looking out for their best interest. But when aTm says that is what they are doing it's not killing a conference. It's just improving their situation. I'm not understanding this. How is it Texas' fault when they are the ones trying to hold the Big 12 together??? I think it is funny that aTm's future depend's on Baylor, and Texas gets the blame. I think it's funny that aTm is the one leaving/running away and TExas gets the blame.

You are a tiger fan right? I see you SEC chanters stick together. I'd stick up for them too because everybody wants a little brother to whoop up on.

  12. Texas cares nothing about the Big XII. Texas only cares about what is in their best interest. Same for OU, OSU, A&M, and Baylor. Save yourself and your money or share it with your brothers? If option 2 is the answer Texas is choosing now, they are a year or 2 too late.

Hypothetical....what would you say if the SEC offered UT an invitation with stipulations that allows Texas things they want (no partial qualifiers, raised academic standards for conference)????

  13. Then they would have been in the same boat. Texas killed the conference. Why do they want to save it? More money for them...

Why do they want to save it? Because there is a good deal on the table for the Big 12 with a new contract that aTm is leaving. Keeping it at 10 teams is a positive for any team in the Big 12. aTm is leaving so they can come out of the phone booth in a set of SEC tights and a red cape and rescue themselves, but from what? The Aggies leaving because they are mad at and hate Texas is killing the contract and the Big 12.

  14. What they did to SWC and now Big XII. According to Chip Brown, tu may be headed to ACC. Fits probally with Macks home ground. Easy wins against Duke, Wake, except hoops.

So 3 schools leave the Big 12 and it's TExas' fault the Big 12 is tumbling??? They are the one trying to actively keep it together now. OU and OSU are looking to jump ship with Texas talking to them about staying. What's that they say about Greener grass on the other side of the fence? The Aggies will find out soon enough.

The LHN is the problem most people are saying, but if OU or aTm were offered $300million for a network do you think they would've asked the Big 12's permission to accept it??? I think not.

  15. I think GG is the most gifted of the TExas QBs, but the thing he lacks is field vision and "it". Some have "it" some don't. He has lost the team also, they do not rally with him. Jaxon Shipley said the team rallied around McCoy saying that McCoy was confident in the huddle and told his team he would lead them to paydirt. They had faith in him and the offense looked more enthused when McCoy and Ash were taking the snaps.

  16. I think the LHN is dead in the water unless Texas goes independant. Pac-12 won't have it, nor will the big 10 and the SEC. They were practically begging folks to order it during the commercial breaks.

I know the Aggies and others are mad at Texas, not so much for having the network, but for what the content and games to be aired. I personally think the problem with the Network is ESPN is involved. They have a $300million investment and they want to cash in on it as much as they can. They want as many games broadcast, HS stuff aired, etc. that would appeal to the public. Their pushing of these things has caused problems and is the main problem IMO. If they network would've been locally driven/operated it wouldn't have been such a problem. It would've still been a profitable deal for UT. ESPN is out to make a buck anyway they can and they don't care if it is in UT's best interest. That is why they are still trying to pursue the HS athletics avenue. TExas should break ties with ESPN and work with the remaining big 12 teams to create a Big 12 network. It would keep a great conference alive, allow games to be aired that might not otherwise be shown and promote growth in the big 12. I am a huge Longhorn fan, but I think this is the writing on the wall. If TExas truly doesn't want to go indy, break all ties with ESPN on the network and work with the Big 12 to create a conference network.

  17. I see the longhorns rebuilding 18 freshman and 8 sophomores getting major playing time with a whole new coaching staff. i do see a group of youngsters getting VALUABLE playing time make it to a bowl and thats a great season. Brown should be a workhorse, Gray will be there next year to complete the 2 headed monster. So 7-5 would be a good year.

I would like to see Bergeron worked in there as well. He is a beast as well.

McNamara was extremely surehanded in the spring game, why hasn't he played the least bit as a possession type receiver???

  18. I personally think the defense will be better when they are blitzing as much. When they stayed in their base D they made stops. When they blitzed the kitchen sink it opened up holes in the defense. I like blitzing, just timed blitzes.

Offense seems to click a little better when Gilbert is wearing the head set. McCoy/Shipley 2.0 will be pretty good, but I don't think you sideline Ash either. He needs some snaps too.

I fully expected Shipley to step in and be the go-to guy after watching him against Carthage last fall. Man he is good.

Overall I think the team still needs tons of work and Manny Diaz doesn't have to be so aggressive. It's time for Mack to get comfortable with a bunch of young'uns playing a lot.
