  1. Shelbyville is going to beat Beckville today. Ponder over Paradise. Kountze loses to Hitchcock.
  2. That district should be a battle. Jefferson, Tatum, and WR will finish top 3. Looks like MP Chapel Hill is strong in the bottom half of the region and obviously Dallas Madison is going to be good.
  3. They split up the top 2 teams based on win percentage then flip a coin to see who the top seed plays, so there's a chance that it could be White Oak and Idalou
  4. Hasn't started yet. The Idalou-Hallettsville game went into overtime.
  5. I believe that they take the 2 best records and split those teams up then they flip for who the 3rd team will play, so it could be 1 vs 3, or 1 vs 4. Regardless though, Tatum will play Melissa or Idalou both of which only have 1 loss. I know that last year Idalou surprised me by beating New Waverly but then got blown out in the championship. I'd rather play them first, just because if you win on Friday, Melissa has less than 24 hours to prepare for you.
  6. Is this official? I thought the matchups weren't set until Sunday morning
  7. Let's go Tatum, and good luck to Coach Carr
  8. It should be 2 good games. I expect Tatum to give New Waverly some problems with their ability to rotate guys like Crockett does. As far as the Crockett and White Oak game goes, this one is a toss up to me. It is two different styles of play so White Oak will need to be able to not only handle the press, which I think they will do, but they must make sure they get quality shots on each possession. Crockett needs to get the game going in a fast pace. Both teams can play at either speed but whoever can establish their tempo has the advantage. If the game comes down to free throws, then White Oak has the distinct advantage. After saying all of that, I'll take Tatum vs Crockett on Saturday for the trip to Austin.
  9. All I know is that Crockett better find a way to stop Zay McDaniel. Arp had no answer for him last night.
  10. I've heard 7:30 unless Lufkin finds another game for a double header, then the Kountze/Arp game would be at 8
  11. Assuming this is boys, they didn't play tonight, but will play Woodville on Friday.
  12. The Kountze Lions will take on the Arp Tigers in this matchup. These two have battled it out in recent years when Arp knocked off #1 Kountze in the regional final in 2006 61-57, en route to a state title. The next year Kountze got revenge by taking down the Tigers 87-82, on their way to their 3rd state title in 4 years. This year's matchup should provide another great game. The preliminary word that I heard over the weekend was that they would play in Lufkin but will provide further details when I hear a definite.
  13. Tonight's Warmup Game: Laneville 58 Arp 54 Arp played pretty good tonight even without it's best player and probably could have won but coach took his starters out and put his young players in for the last few minutes. This should have been a good test to get the Tigers ready for Kountze on Friday.
  14. 2A region 3 New Boston vs Lone Oak Daingefield vs Jefferson - Tues Feb 22, 7pm @ ETBU Troup vs Woden - Tues Feb 22, 8pm @ Tenaha New Waverly vs Anahuac - Tues Feb 22, 7:30 @ Dayton Edgewood vs Linden Kildare - Tues Feb 22, 6:30 @ Gladewater Elysian Fields vs Hughes Springs Woodville vs Sabine - Tues Feb 22, 6pm @ Rusk Kountze vs Trinity - Tues Feb 22, 7:30 @ Cleveland I got these from hoopinsider.com which is the best basketball website there is. It has all of the matchups listed and then is continuously updated with the location as the information is received.
  15. Here are some scores from the warmup/seeding games from this weekend of teams in the region. I don't put much stock into warmup games because each coach has their own style and things that they want to get accomplished. Troup 64, Miller Grove 59 Arp 56, Chapel Hill 43 New Boston 53, Broaddus 34 Grapeland 64, Central Heights 51 Coldspring 56, New Waverly 38 North Hopkins 68, Hughes Springs 62 Mexia 110, Crockett 109 3OT Anahuac 52, Jasper 36 Silsbee 95, Kountze 63 West Orange Stark 50, East Chambers 48 White Oak 65, Daingerfield 50 Woodville 51, Woden 39
  16. Arp took care of Chapel Hill tonight, 56-43, in the battle of Lake Tyler. The Tigers will play 1 more warmup game on Monday against Laneville
  17. Not sure about Crockett being a lock. Kountze already beat them this year.
  18. Yeah matchups figure into it, but you have to think that Woodville and Woden are going to be pretty even so there won't be much difference in playing either one of those. After you win that game, you either get East Chambers or Crockett. I'd much rather play East Chambers considering they don't shoot the ball as well and don't use the press as often but that's just my opinion. Goodluck to all 3 teams in the playoffs.
  19. What was the reasoning behind flipping? It seems to me that the 2nd place team has an easier route to the regional tournament than the 3rd place team, not that either is easy by any means.
  20. Does anyone know where Troup and Sabine are going to play?
  21. According to hoopinsider.com: Sabine 46 Frankston 42 Troup 69 Elkhart 67 OT This puts Troup and Sabine in, and they will have to play or flip for 2nd place
  22. No one said Arp didn't get beat for 4 quarters. Troup was the better team on the night, but that doesn't change the fact that there was a huge free throw differential. I'm glad you Troup people have come out of hibernation, we haven't seen you guys on here much to talk basketball the last few years.
  23. According to the MaxPreps site, Troup shot 39 free throws on the night. I would say Arp shot 8 to 10. In the first half, Troup committed 5 fouls while Arp was in the double bonus early in the 2nd quarter.
