  1. I’m not condoning what the athlete did by any means at all!!! It’s a said situation and I feel for the girl and boy involved along with their parents and families. Do I feel their should be punishment, without a doubt! Most all of us on here have kids, boys and girls, I have put myself as a parent in the position of both of the parents that are involved with this situation. What if that was my daughter or son, what if that was your daughter or son? Kids are going to make mistakes and we have all made mistakes ourselves and we all have to live with them the rest of our lives. Should we judge a kid by one mistake, no, and the Good Lord above says that. Unfortunately in today’s society with technology, cell phones, social media and all these different apps,,, kids take for granted what the intended purpose of a cell phone should be used for. I have had discusssions with my kids what a cell phone is really intended for and if they miss use that intended use of a cell phone in the wrong way, there are consequences. I encourage parents to do the same. If you think that what happened doesn’t happen with kids in your school, in your town or community,,, you better think again!!! Unfortunately, some kids in today’s society feel they need to do stuff like this for whatever the reason may be, weather unwillingly or willingly. After reading the lawsuit, which is 1 side of the story from the girl and her parent! There are always 2 sides to a story, Side 2 : the athlete, CISD, the superintendent, the principal, the head coach, the police department, the district attorneys office and the FBI Cyber Division. All those mentioned above did an investigation within the legal limits of their powers. Some had more legal power than others by law. Do I think that CISD and it’s administrators: Supt, Principal and Head Coach, etc. conspired to cover this up, hide information, didn’t do an investigation,,, no! Why would any of those risk their reputation on this matter? I think the school did what they could do under the limits of the law. My problem with this lawsuit is this: In relation to the video and the nature of the charge, why were their not any charges file by District Attorney? Why did the FBI Cyber Divison not file any charges, they do not have to go thru the DA for them to file charges, they can file their charges in Federal Court since this was Felony Cyber related charge? Evidently they didnt do their due justice for the girl according to the law. Why is the parent not directing some blame on these law enforcement agencies. That’s a scary problem! Second, I don’t see how CISD can be held responsible for something that initially took place and happened at a house of another parent, not during school hours or on school property with the video initially being shared off campus and not during school hours. Yes, it was shared later on to kids at school and any of those that received it or shared it are just as responsible, but it initially was shared away from CISD property and school hours. If this goes to court and a judge or jury sides with girl and her parent,,, every school district in the state and country will have a lawsuit filed against them for something that happened, whatever the case may be, between kids in a school district off school property and not during school hours. Did the school investigate the matter when it was brought to their attention, yes. Was it handled the way the parent thought it should have been, evidently not, that’s why we have a lawsuit. Third, if Civil Rights have been violated, if anything, its a Right of Privacy, because of the video and nature of it and the what the girls were doing. That should be filed against the boy, not the school district. Just wondering why the second girl has not filed any charges or a lawsuit? Fourth, some of the the things listed in lawsuit are pretty far out: principal being a former bulldog football player, implementation of the counselors, teachers and administrators, coaches pay compared the Lake Travis head coach, school funding from the state. Etc.. I think there are not going to be any charges files per DA and FBI Cyber Division, or they would have already filed them by now, they have pretty much made that clear. I think the parent of the girl is mad because of that and I would be too if I was in her place. I think her Statue of Limitations was going to run out at the end of April since the crime took place in April 2016 and I guess placing blame on the school was her next best option. I think CISD did what they could in their investigation according to the law. How was CISD suppose to stop the spread of the video? They don’t own the kids cell phones, by law they really don’t have the legal authority to go thur their phones and search for content of that nature, unless they have a warrant. How does a ISD get a warrant, they can’t. As a parent, would you want a school administrator going thur your child’s phone based on a accusation that you may or may not have explicit photos or videos on it? You run into the Right of Privacy again. I don’t, only if Im present with my child and with legal counsel for something of that nature and you or your counsel is going to ask if a report hasn’t been filed with police and if so your counsel is gonna say that the police are the only ones that can go thur the phone. I think the parent is trying to get whatever money she can since there is not gonna be any charges filled by the Policing Authority. Since some on here want to jump on the Hate Carthage ISD Band Wagon because of this and the fact of who we are and that we have been so successful in football lately, I think you need to take a step back and wait and hear the other sides of the story from the athlete, CISD, Police, DA and FBI Cyber Divison if this gets to court. A lot has to take place for it to get to that point and it may be 1-2 years before that takes place. If it goes to court and they tell there side and the school and the names of people that are mentioned in lawsuit are cleared, some on here are going to be in for a big surprise when they find out that the ones that didn’t do their jobs that had the legal authority to do it. Let’s hear all the facts from both sides not just one side. On a side note, if my name was name in lawsuit and my name was cleared of any wrong doing, I’m counter suing the parent for defamation of my name. If we get to that point, there will probably be some more lawsuits CISD is a great school district and they should not be judged by the actions of kids and what they do away from the school, off school property and not during school hours. In cloisng I will state this again. I’m not condoning what the athlete did was right, it wasn’t, any sane person will agree with that. Is some punishment due, you bet. There are consequences for you actions. Should we judge the kid and hold it against him for the rest of their life, no. Should the actions of students away from an ISD school be a reflection on the school and should the school be held responsible, no. As parent if that was my daughter, I would be upset that the legal Policing Authorities didn’t file charges if they had the evidence. Sounds to me like they didnt give the girl due justice thur the legal system. Our legal system has statues set in place to prove you innocence, innocent until proven guilty, so let’s stop saying CISD is guilty of anything until we here their side and facts. Just remember before you wanna start judging or placing blame, you never know, this could be your daughter or son, your school district, your town or your community the next time it happens, and it will happen again, somewhere. I’m a tax paying citizen of this town and school district. So yes, I know who is involved and their families, it’s a small town. I know some details that are not being said in the lawsuit and they will be brought up when the time comes if it goes to court. My prayers go out and have been going out for the girl, the athlete, the parents, the families involved, now the school district and the town of Carthage.
  2. Cant believe these 2 clowns at KYKX would receive any award or be recognized by the ETCA. I guess anybody can say they have a scoreboard show from now own. Wonder if the award will be changed too “The Totally Awesome List Award”? They use to make fun of Meeks at the end of their show back years ago
  3. Yeah, but unfortunately we’re talkng about the top RB’s to come thru Carthage. Nothing against those guys, the guys on my list were above them and are game changers.
  4. I heard the attendance for Carthage and Kennedale was over 18,000 people,,, so I will use 18,000 and just use $10 for a ticket, even though some were at $15, that brings the total too $180,000. The UIL gets, I think 20% of ticket sales at the gate, that equals $36,000. So that gets us to $144,000. I’m gonna go ahead and take another 30% off of that, that brings up too $100,800. Divide that by 2 for each school and that is what they get for gate admission for state championship game,,, that $50,400 for each school. It is probably more for each school. Then you have to figure in all the other playoff game gate admission.
  5. Yeah, but y’all keep giving him raises to keep him at Tatum,,, because he utilized the system that was in place to pass Bonds and keep tax payer money in TISD. What’s the difference in keeping (saving) money and making money? That’s what I think Surratt does, make some money with a winning program all around at CISD.
  6. Keaontay Ingram, George Johns, Dwight Smith, (tie) Roscoe Tatum & Johnny Balous, Kris Briggs, (tie) Tevin Pipkin & Hunter Holland, Jason Edwards Ingram is the most complete back. Johns had vision, speed and would run over you. Smith had vision, speed and good footwork. Tatum had speed and could cut on a dime. Balous was tough to bring down and had top end speed. Briggs could tote the ball 30+ times a game and not get tired, tough and had runner Pipkin was a good runner not as fast as the others and not as good vision as others. Holland was a baller. Not blazing speed but pound for pound could get the job done in big games. Edwards was shifty, had start and top end speed.
  7. Not hardly, we give both teams credit on how they play.
  8. Wrong,,, the Men’s Basketball Coach makes more than the Football Coach and why do you think he makes that much? Winning and making the NCAA Tournament!
  9. He was given raise in February and voted on by the School Board and approved by Superintendent,,, BEFORE,,, BEFORE the funding was taken away by that Scumbag Lt. Governor Dan Pantrick at the end of the Special Session!!! We, all CISD Tax Payers and other School Districts that we’re going to POSSIBLY loose ASATAR Funding, were told that the State of Texas was going to fix the problem on Public Education Funding, related to ASATAR Funding. Is was not until May that ASATAR Funding may not continue for these school districts. As the article stated, State Public Education Funding has been going down the last 10 years, really the last 25 years. To make a long story short,,, Dan Patrick is a BIG school choice and school voucher supporter. The reason behind that is, because he own’s a Publishing Compnay that would have been awarded the contract to print the text books for them! The Lt. Governor of the State of Texas has more power the the Governor of the State of Texas. The Lt. Governor controls what bills will make it to the Senate floor to be voted on,,, he didn’t allow a Senate backed House Bill that would have fixed ASATAR Funding to Senate Floor to be voted on because the House shot down a bill that funded a School Voucher Program. Dan Patrick is a snake in the grass,,, until we vote for someone else at that position,,, we will not get the problem solved as far as Public Education Education Funding. CISD didn’t make the cuts to staff, aids, School Police Officer who was a lazy bumb anyways and teacher insurance until the summer after school was out. We had to do what we had to do considering the situation we were in. I can assure you that CISD did not want to cuts those jobs nor did I. Mrs.Ewings is nothing but an instigator like her dad and a liar. They were only protesting the elimination of the CISD Police officer and the Superintendent,,, with about 6 people protesting. They have always, so called Protested, anything and everything CISD has done the last 25 years. Those people are a bunch of hypocrit’s,,, I guarantee you they will be at AT&T Stadium on Friday cheering on Carthage and the Coaches. Do I think that Surratt is worth the salary that he has and the raise that he got,,, you darn right he is. Eagleborn, I’m kind of surprised of your comment considering that Tatum is in the same boat that we are in and that your former Superindent was paid over $200,000+ a year. Was he not worth that amount? I guess he was not a hard worker since he was making more than any other Superintendent in East Texas,,, heck, some Superintendents in DFW/Houston didn’t make that much.
  10. Gilmer has had 2 weeks to prepare for PG. I would guess that Gilmer will go as fast as they can to wear down PG Defense. I think this game will come down to which defense gets the most stops in the 2nd half. I think it comes down to the Gilmer defensive line and the PG secondary.
  11. #6 is right on the money! After game last year when they were wrapping up the broadcast, they said Gilmer won! These clowns, that is what they are, don't even need to be broadcasting high school football games. They treat it as comedy hour!
  12. Just throwing this out there. Ingram was only on the field 5 plays the entire scrimmage and touched the ball 2 times on pass plays, scoring on one of them. He never ran the ball the entire scrimmage. Things somewhat change on play calling when he is not in there. His backup ran the ball pretty good along with his younger brother other than the fumble he had, he got popped pretty good on the hit. New offensive lineman and the offensive lineman did pretty good and gave up no sacks. New QB threw ball well, had 4 TD passes. He missed a few reads and was off on some passes but he will get better as he plays and timing with receivers will improve. All receivers did very well and Bowen's and D. Ingram made some nice grads. Some new faces on defense in secondary and defensive line. The new faces wearing white helmets were either Sophmores and a few Freshman. One of the Sophmores playing DE looked pretty good. The tall receiver for Pitt is pretty good, he burned our corner on a long TD pass and out out jumped the other DB on another pass play which they scored on that drive. Other than those 2 pass plays, Pitt did not have a lot of success. There 3rd TD in live qtr was against our 2nd team D. Just like any other scrimmage. Pretty vanilla on play calling by both teams and coaches looking at other players and keeping some players limited on action. Good scrimmage for both teams.
  13. We are not the only school in East Texas that is going to have this problem.
  14. If we have to raise our tax rate, it is because we will be losing an additional $5.1 million from the State, called ASATR. Additional State Aid for Tax Reduction because the darn State of Texas and its Legislatures can't figure out a way to fund public school education along with all the money they are getting from the Rich School Districts. ASATR was started 13 years ago, so the legislatures say, would not increase property taxes in certain school districts to fund those school districts. They have had 13 YEARS to figure out a new system of funding public education and hear we are 13years later and ASATR funding has run out and they are not planning to add money to the fund in the special session. That idiot Dan Patrick and his voucher system and not getting it passed, he basically said, you dont pass the voucher system, I'm not going to bring ASATR to the floor to vote for funding.
