  1. Congrats LRA and good luck next week against Franklin.
  2. Haha…not sure why all the district 9 teams keep saying they “should” have beat Diboll when they didn’t. Diboll walked through WW with a backup QB and a struggling offense. WW had plenty of extra possessions to get something done but they didn’t. LRA will be a tough test for Diboll, and if Diboll wins I’m willing to bet LRA fans will congratulate and move on instead of making excuses. Good luck to all of the District 9 teams tonight!
  3. I think WW is athletic enough to hang around for awhile with Lorena, but they won’t be able to match Lorena score for score. Curious to see how the WW QB handles this stage. Shepherd has been a surprise to close out district and in the 1st round (1st playoff win since 1967). They seem to be peaking at the right time, but again it just won’t be enough against Franklin. Diboll probably has the best chance to advance out of all of the District 9 teams. These two teams met up in the 3rd round a couple of years ago (I believe the LRA QB was a Sophomore) in a classic game that Diboll won on a late FG. Of course that LRA QB is a different beast as a senior. Diboll has rode their defense all year, so that is what will dictate this game for Diboll. Against Buna the Diboll secondary got beat for some big plays a few times which I’m sure excited the LRA scouts. Should be a fun Area round!
  4. Yeah Region 3 is absolutely stacked and there will be state championship caliber games in round 1. Franklin and Columbus are the obvious favorites, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a couple of #2 or #3 seeds sitting in the regional final.
  5. I think WW has a great shot to get a win in the first round, but I do not see any team from districts 9 or 10 getting past the 2nd round. Districts 11 and 12 are just too strong this year in my opinion….but you never know.
  6. #8 got his carries but didn’t carry enough to really get going. I think they are calling plays to get the Sophomore QB use to varsity level ball. I’m sure #8 will get his time to shine soon.
  7. I wouldn’t be surprised by that at all. I think Lorena has a better defense than Yoe right now so I could see Lorena slowing Franklin down enough to get the win. Of course Porter will have to have a big game to get it done. I see Franklin and Yoe being a high scoring pickem shootout.
  8. I like Franklin in this matchup but Jasper should keep it close enough to make it interesting. SETX teams are used to the Slot T/ Wing T style offenses so Jasper shouldn’t be surprised by anything Franklin runs. Jasper will probably be slightly faster in the skill positions than Woodville or Diboll and will present a greater threat for big plays. Should be a fun game to watch.
  9. Diboll had several sophomores and the backup QB playing in the Hemphill scrimmage which is what a scrimmage is for. The starting lineup fought well against a solid Franklin team tonight.
  10. Diboll has plenty of talent this year to make some noise but they are still finalizing positioning which is what pre-district is for. Diboll played a solid 3 QRTs against Kirbyville but got a little sloppy in the 4th. I’m sure it will be all business and all hands on deck against Franklin. Hopefully Diboll can keep that Franklin run game in check to keep this game interesting.
  11. I look for Anahuac to move up. They are looking solid so far. LRA is surprising to me as I had them as a preseason favorite. It is still early though so I’m sure they will turn it around.
  12. Your right…Diboll has to control the clock and game tempo in this one. Diboll had to play keep away from LRA as well and the Diboll offense was able to put together a few 5-6 minute drives capped off with TD’s that really shortened the game and kept that LRA offense off the field. Don’t know if Diboll can keep Porter in check but hopefully they can limit the big momentum plays.
  13. Yep this is uncharted territory for Diboll football and we are grateful to be here and proud of our kids!
  14. The defense has been solid against the run (Academy had 26 total yards rushing) but the secondary was really tested Friday by a very good LRA passing attack. Up until that game the secondary has held their own so we’ll have to see how they hold up to Lorena’s passing game. Offensively Diboll is more balanced than years past but run heavy is still their go to. They have done a great job of getting playmakers the ball during this playoff run.
  15. I think East Chambers is a good team as well but I’m not sold on them winning Region 3. They just do not have a signature win under their belt. If I’m not mistaken EC will possibly see the 2nd seed of District 11 in round two. They will get tested there.
  16. East Chambers is the big dog in District 10 and they will move through Bi-District with no problem. The 2-4 seeding will be determined this week between Anahuac, Buna, Woodville, and possibly Kirbyville. All of those teams are about equal and comparable to most of the District 9 teams. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 2-2 split in the Bi-District round between Districts 9 and 10.
  17. Yes as much as I would like to see Huntington succeed, it was nice to see Elkhart get their first win after a disappointing season.
  18. Yep Elkhart beat Huntington, Trinity beat Westwood, and Coldspring beat Crockett. I went 0-3 on these pickem’s. Now Diboll and Coldspring play for the District Championship and the 1 and 2 seeds. Crockett and Trinity play for the 3 and 4 seed.
  19. I see Westwood winning this week as well to setup a win and your in with Huntington. I just do not see Trinity beating Crockett in week 11 to change that scenario.
  20. I hope I’m wrong but I just do not see any District 9 teams making it past round 2 right now. I see the winner of District 11 taking Region 3. However I wouldn’t be surprised to see East Chambers pull it out. Nothing against District 12 but Rockdale and Yoe usually find another gear during the playoffs.
  21. What an exciting game! Even if my team wasn’t playing I’d want to see this. Can’t beat a top 10 playoff matchup.
  22. Yes good job District 11!!! Coldspring hung in there to the end. Hope we fair just as well against in the 2nd round!
  23. Haha..Malakoff did not call the dogs (or tigers) off in this one. That flag plant last year really made them mad.
  24. That’s right...he also called my hometown commies for having a red light camera. Honestly I actually look forward to hearing his picks (or guesses) each week.
