  1. Matt Garza is who I would go after, lock him up for 5 years and 70 mil. If worked with Mike Maddox I think he could reach his full potential, which is scary for the league.
  2. Texas Tech's offense is a joke, our OC is an embarrassment. That's my only real opinion on the game.
  3. 27-21 UT wins, I'd suggest not hurting Potts or you'll be in real trouble however.
  4. North 1) Nebraska 2) Mizzou 3) KSU 4) ISU 5) Colorado 6) KU South 1) OU 2) Texas 3) Tech 4) A&M 5) Baylor 6) Okie St.
  5. One of these guys has proven he can hit over the past 7 season, the other is a rookie who has had 3 good games. Moreland should definitely stay with the big club but should only be playing day games to give Cantu a little break. If they continue to truly platoon then Moreland will get way more at-bats which to me seems counterproductive.
  6. Amazing Oakland is over .500 when Kurt Suzuki is there best hitter, maybe Jack Cust but that's not much better.
  7. Baylor is gonna be in a hell of a battle for 5th with O$U
  8. I really think this move puts us in great position. (With Kinsler out) With Kinsler SS Andrus.............SS Andrus 3B Young...............3B Young LF Hamilton............2B Kinsler DH Vlad................DH Vlad RF Cruz................LF Hamilton 1B Cantu..............RF Cruz C Molina...............1B Cantu 2B Arias................C Molina CF Borbon............CF Borbon That 2nd lineup is about as good as any in baseball IMO. There won't be significant OBP dropoffs like there was.
  9. I wish A&M would have been down for the Pac 10, mainly because it would have meant a lot more money for Tech and no discrepancy in the distribution of revenues. I don't love the distribution but I get why it is there, now I have to root for A&M to go to the SEC because that'd probably get Texas and Tech and OU and OSU into the Pac 10, but it would be really icky to not be in the same conference as the Aggies.
  10. FYI I'm the manager of Team Hasselhoff
  11. The Rangers have a catcher, his name is Molina and he's average by MLB standards... you can't have all-stars at every position. The Rangers have one of the worst hitting first basemen in baseball (statistically, he's got potential and he's young). The Rangers would be helping themselves a lot if they can pick up a mid-level veteran. (Ty Wigginton or Jorge Cantu).
  12. Oh don't get me wrong, I'm a Leach fan and many schools would be doing very well to hire him as head coach. Tommy Tuberville has accomplished more than Leach has in the coaching profession however and I'm excited to see how he does with Tech. Has Tuberville done more because he's had better resources or because he's better. I think it's somewhere in between as I think Tech's resources are underrated. P.S. you know why Tech couldn't recruit over the past decade? Mainly because Leach didn't create positive relationships with the Texas high school coaches (who play a huge role in the recruitment of their athletes). Tuberville is speaking at every function creating the right relationships. Even if he ends up being terrible he's going to recruit some athletes while he is here and the next coach can step in with the cupboard pretty full. However, Tubs has always done quality coaching jobs and I bet he does another one.
  13. The most extreme change possible for next season's offense is that we look like Troy with less QB runs. I promise we won't be in the I-form half the game or anything like that.
  14. Well Georgia Tech put up 222 by themselves against Cumberland, but I think the answer is the UNT vs. Navy game that finished 74-62 in 2007.
  15. I'll take Jared Weaver over all of them except Lee.
  16. Huge talent upgrade, and if he pitches to the form he did last season (1.003 WHIP) then this will be a race to the final weekend.
  17. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=troll 7-1 in this conference is a pretty darn good year, I don't understand how you can diminish the fact that most years that wins the conference or gets a BCS game. If the BCS allowed 3 representatives from one conference then Tech would have been included for sure, but they don't. Tuberville didn't get handed a great team at Auburn, but he turned them around pretty quickly. I think he can do the same thing in a lesser conference. I'm not saying Brown will run the same offense, but he learned the spread under Leach and is more than qualified to run it here. We're going to keep throwing more than we pass because that is where the strength of this team is, we're better pass blockers than run blockers. However we're going to run the ball more than last season.
  18. First off I was serious about liking your DC hire, he got it done at AF with little talent. Secondly,
  19. I think that Tech needs a little more time to prove that 2008 was or wasn't a fluke. I'm thinking it is apart of a slow but steady upward trend for Tech, last year went back down but I believe the next few years will see us at 10+ wins again, not every season but more often than 1 out of 10. Especially considering we hit that 9 win status quo last year having 3 different starting QBs. Who knows for sure though how the Tuberville era will go, I'm just assuming he'll manage to do similar things that he did in Auburn, it is a fairly, (not totally), similar situation to what Tech is in, being a secondary school in a state. Tuberville is wrangling together a top 25 recruiting class this season which is pretty good considering the fact that this is his first year in Lubbock. I'm going to also assume Neal Brown will run a similar offense to what he ran at Troy, and I assume it will be similar to what Leach did because he played WR for Leach's offense at Kentucky. James Willis will probably never bring the 2009 Alabama defense to Lubbock, but he knows what it takes to coach defense at a major level.
  20. QB sneaks were predictable lol, the offense was very basic but an ingenious way to use every portion of the field. Leach was one of the firsts to use it and an innovator of it, but so is Hal Mumme and he's coaching at McMurray last I heard. I liked Dana Holgerson's version better at Houston last season. Loved the way he used his running backs in the passing game, their top RB in receiving had 70 catches, Taurean Henderson had 88 one season at Tech but for some reason Leach didn't emphasize using the RBs anymore after a while which I didn't understand. I think it was just time to get fresh blood in their at Tech, 10 years is a long time to coach somewhere in today's college football.
  21. 1) I was referring to losing to mediocre teams like KSU and OU by 45+, and losing to Georgia and Arkansas by 25+ 2) Tech had 1 scholarship defensive end available against Houston because of injuries, and Mike Leach lost us that game by not running the ball 40+ times when we were dominating on the ground the whole first half. 3) All Big-XII DE Brandon Sharpe didn't play against A&M. 4) What the hell does Wisconsin have to do with a spread offense? 5) I doubt that we'll have a top 20 defense this season, I don't doubt that we'll have a top 20 defense at some point, (points not yardage, you have to have UT talent to be top 20 in yardage in this conference because of the spread). 6) Congrats on your first win in Lubbock in 16 years. 7) I'm done responding to your posts because you are trolling, WETSU is cool and I respect his opinions and where he is coming from although I disagree with some points.
  22. It's within reach regardless. Lee, Lewis, Wilson, Hunter...... you only run a 4 man rotation in the playoffs. When your playoff staff doesn't include an ERA over 3.52 that means you are in good shape.
  23. We've only had one shot to duplicate a 2008 type season, Tech isn't quite to the UT level of reloading yet but we did alright. A&M is going to have a decent season this season, 6-8 wins IMO, I don't think you guys are going to break through yet but it all depends on the defense. Tech had a better defense than A&M last year, but we struggled really badly against running QBs, we're still not as talented as we need to be on that side of the ball but we will be soon with Tubs recruiting. Lobos 2004 - Tuberville is a little bit more than a mediocre coach, he went undefeated in the SEC and had 5 straight top 15 season at one point.
