Football average is probably closer to an 80$ average in the area I typically call. In your figures you forgot to factor in the part about leaving @ 3 or 4 in the evening to arrive at the field the game is to be played on 2 hours early (as is required) then getting home @ 2 in the morning...does not equal $30-35 an hour...you're gripe isn't with other sports officials....we support you in your struggle...good luck but please give figures in a realistic framework. Only 1 car gets mileage in football also...we are not racking up the mileage fees there either.

Schools want officials that perfectly define the strike zone. Always know when the runner leaves early. Can tell with laser precision whether it was safe or out on a bang-bang play at first...then do not want to pay for good officials. It is absurd. Wonder how many of those Superintendents could give up part of their car allowance and divert those funds to pay for officials that do the job well and are satisfied with the pay they get? I am a football official...we leave at 3 pm... get to ride 5 to a vehicle for as much as 150 miles one way... work a 3 hour game travel back...get home at 2 in the morning...wait 4 or five weeks and get a check for $60. I car gets mileage...no lunch money...cold showers...Only way you can do that is to love the game...good luck baseball umps with this issue

WOW!!! just looked that one up in Websters...you cant be serious?....lol Actually this was a stress related response to the current situation involving Huntington Boys Athletics. Due to pent up frustrations and anger I regressed back to my childhood days and was actually quoting a Looney Tunes character of days gone by....none other than your favorite and mine...Bugs Bunny. He was fond of saying "what a maroon." He said this regarding someone whom he thought to be...well shall we say, a moron! Apologies for any confusion. First you give permission to people to call you what we want and then take offense when someone does. Second you said very plainly if it is broken replace it. Not sure how I twisted that. How could we attract one of the guys from a ":storied:" program without the fball job being tied to AD as was the intent of the origianl post by oleredraider? See I am not anonymous like the trolls that post are...I have no problem saying where I am from. I do NOT have any interest in the head fball job. I am certain the raise would be greatly appreciated by the coaches...however, there are some good coaches in place already. Maybe a few could be added to up the number of coaches...some of them are very good at what they do.
