  1. Coach Metzel was at Pine Tree with Tim Russell in 2004 so it's just his 7th. Thank God he came back here.

  3. I keep seeing this offense called the Wing T by posters. The teams being mentioned in this thread, Liberty Hill and Bellville, call it the Slot T. I am guessing they know what to call what they're running. Can anybody tell me the difference between the Wing T and Slot T?
  4. Gilmer vs Glen Rose will be at Children's Health Stadium in Prosper. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8. Not yet known who is home team.
  5. I still can't believe what happened. When Carthage tied it up, I was certain they would go on and win in overtime. This feels like a fluke event. That's because Carthage has such a dynasty going. Gotta congratulate all the players and coaches on both sides. They'll remember this the rest of their lives. I know I will and I was a mere spectator.
  6. Well, the 2020 game at AT&T Stadium wasn't good from my perspective. The first quarter mostly went well. I'll give you that.
  7. Jeff Rash on this week's Coach's Show said he has since been told that that was false and Peterson is a good kid with no discipline problems.
  8. They lost to Jordan Whittington. Maybe the best individual performance in a state championship game ever.
  9. NFHS Network has too many problems to be trusted with this on a monopoly basis. YouTube is WAY more reliable for streaming.
  10. Gilmer defense is not what it was in early October. I wouldn't say the flag is back to being black, but it's been getting darker every week since the Pleasant Grove debacle.
  11. I believe this is the first time in history that Gilmer (848) is larger than Carthage.
  12. 2018 team was WAY worse than this one and Gilmer still eked out a 20-18 win at Panther Stadium. Too bad ETSN is no longer with us: https://etsn.fm/gilmer-holds-off-spring-hill-20-18-to-open-district/
  13. There's almost always plenty of room on the home side in Gilmer. Some of our opponents travel so well that their stands are packed, though. This was the case with Chapel Hill and Lindale this season. So be sure and sit on the home side if you start coming to our games.
  14. Ahem ... 2006 ... Coach Pat Brady.
  15. If you mean 9 state championships, they already achieved that in 2022.
  16. Not sure the Carthage people agree with that. They plan on taking down the Hawks in round 3.
  17. I doubt it. They'd have to lower the cutoff number. Latest enrollment at GHS was reported to be 865. The cutoff number from last time was 879. These numbers usually move up.
  18. So I asked Google Bard LLM about this. My reading of this is they have until 10:30 or so tonight to resume the game or it will be considered a tie. The Texas Association of Sports Officials (TASO) has a rule called the "suspended game" rule that determines the outcome of a game that is not completed. The rule states that the game must be resumed from the point where it was suspended, and the team that is ahead at the end of the time remaining in the game wins. However, if the game cannot be resumed within 48 hours of the time it was suspended, the game is declared a tie. Here are some examples of how the suspended game rule would be applied: If a game is suspended with 5 minutes left in the fourth quarter and the home team is ahead 14-10, the game would be resumed from the 5-minute mark of the fourth quarter with the home team still ahead. If the home team scores a touchdown and converts the extra point, they would win the game by a score of 21-10. If a game is suspended with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter and the visiting team is ahead 7-6, the game would be declared a tie. The game cannot be resumed within 48 hours of the time it was suspended, so the final score would remain 7-6. The suspended game rule is designed to ensure that both teams have an equal opportunity to win the game. It also prevents teams from intentionally trying to get a game suspended in order to gain an advantage.
  19. I have just confirmed that the officials told Coach Metzel that the game would go in the win column for Gilmer. So argue with them if you don't like it. No one likes the abbreviation of the game, but it is what it is.
